I quite like the layout, basically a room with a stage at the front, a bar to the right, toilets to the back. Theres a stair case near the toilets which leads you onto a balcony that surrounds the whole room - brilliant for seeing bands! Its quite a small place so at gigs no matter where abouts you stand you should get a pretty decent view (unless if your short like me) I wore heels with the idea that a few extra inches would help me to see over people.but then people started moshing and I realised I'd chosen the worst shoes in the world for the night! It was still fun. But ladies - dont wear heels!!! (guys dont wear them either) :P

Makes for a unique night out because there are no places like it in Hanley. The stage is very central, and the sound always seems good regardless on the music type. Lighting is never very exciting, but for a good night out and a variety of music if you're not into pop, then you'd be hard pushed to find a better night out.

Admittedly as i come to realise this is the best there is to offer, i;m starting to like it more! The door staff can be a bit, abrupt, as can the toilet staff as mentioned by another reviewer. Bar staff can be ok, but equally they can be rude and condescending if they decide they dont like you from what i've seen. There is also often a slightly uneasy atmosphere, which can be prmopted by literally a glance in the wrong direction. i do find the people in this place a little touchy!

Mondays are student night in Hanley and Liquid offers cheap drinks, entry for students and a good selection of music that students, and non-students alike, should enjoy. I've found the music in both Envy (Top-floor, Indy, bit of Rock) and Liquid (Middle-floor, Dance and Floor-fillers, bit of Pop) to my taste, and JJ's (Bottom-floor) more Urban music, bass-lines etc. which I enjoy from time to time, but not constantly. In this sense, there is something for everyone who enjoys clubbing. Fair warning, some of the toilet attendants are er rather in your face? They do get your attention, put it that way. There is some seating to be had, but mostly I come here to dance. Don't come here expecting to be able to sit-down and chat. I've never seen any trouble kick-off inside, or outside of Liquid, despite a heavy security presence as mentioned above. On a Friday or Saturday, I suppose you might find it to be a dangerous area, but on a Monday night I have never seen any, let alone experienced any. So don't feel put off in that respect :) 4-stars. More seating required, toilets need re-doing and entry prices never seem to be the same whenever I go. Which would help me budget more carefully!

The shop is quite small of which if there is alot of peple in its hard to get buy with a pushchair but its always clean and tidy . The staff are smartly dressed and have always got a smile on there face and if there is a certain thing you cant find thay will help you find it . They do great gifts for new borns in there and you get served very quickly of whiis tf your in a rush
