About 6 years ago, I had a painful hip injury (I have Psoriatic RA). While I had received several steroid injections for previous injuries from him, this injury was bad. When I called his office, I requested an appointment ASAP for an injection. That same day, Dr Alissa called me personally, to schedule an after-hours injection. I was shocked that a doctor had personally called me and that he went out of his away to accommodate me. After his practice grew, he began to use P.A.'s, which I didn't mind as I found them very helpful. If I am having an issues, Dr. Alissa will talk to me. One of the PA's actually recommended a change in my medication that was very helpful. They are always very thorough and listen well. Occasionally, Dr Alisa will pop in just to say hello and to see that I have what need. Nurse Deborah is a doll and very personable. While the office staff is not the friendliest, they do their jobs well. Once, years ago, the staff had overlooked me as I sat in the waiting room. When I finally asked if I had been overlooked, they apologized profusely, especially Nurse Deborah. I appreciated the fact that they were accountable for their mistake and I feel that mistakes happen occassionally. However, they treated me royally for the rest of the year! Also, if you run out of medication absentmindedly, you should call the doctor's office and they will work with you to get your prescription filled. The staff denies filling the prescription from your pharmacy, if you have not been for your regular check-up. My pharmacy usually calls the office for a refill, but I usually follow up with the office to address the hold up.

I am not sure if it is a staffing shortage or if staff keeps leaving because of the doctor, but…read moreforget getting records sent to a PCP, I have been trying for months. The appt itself was good, Dr. Chada appeared to take me seriously, excellent bedside-manner. She ran a slew of tests which was great, the not-so-great part is it took about an hour for her office to send the orders for the draws. I had to go back over twice to see what the issues were, no one ever could say. Two tests came back with massive warnings on them and then I was blown off entirely and told that the tests did not mean anything. The comments on the tests were not sophisticated in nature and only appeared after a month when I said "WTF is up". Almost seemed more like office staff trying to cover up missing calling me. I was highly annoyed with the assumption of diabetes and high cholesterol, BTW all came back with flying colors (check Quest). I am overweight because I hurt literally from head-to-toe and I am under an insane amount of stress, not because I sit around and eat bon-bons all day, but thanks for perpetuating the myth. My main issue is that at the appt in August, DR. Chada diagnosed fibromyalgia and said she would send the diagnosis and recommended prescriptions to PCP, that was in August, it is now December and I have made multiple requests and guess what my PCP still does not have? Rheumatologists are in high demand because there are not many of them, my guess is if she diagnosis you with a rheumatological issue she is likely excellent, if it is too iffy (ie low results on tests) then she is not going to have time for you. I am giving her the benefit of the doubt on a comment she made in respect to "not a great gene pool to start from"; I have said the same myself, but it still did not sit well the way it was said, almost felt more like a comment on the fact that I appear entirely of European descent. I have been called a "ghost" in the past (look it up, it is derogatory) and the tone and posture came a bit too close to past incidents for my comfort. She would have gotten a great review, but the inability to get the records to my PCP dictates a bad score, just maybe this review will result in those results going over.

Don't bother trying to schedule, she's entirely to busy to see new patients.read more

My father has several doctors, and Dr. Osgood has been one of the best we've visited. In the early years, he would often escort us from the waiting room, as his techs were busy with other tasks. He would "check us in" and was always professional. He is willing to listen and takes the time to care for his patients. He never appears to be in a hurry to get you out of his office. He also runs on time, which is unheard of in many doctors' offices. We are usually in and out in under an hour. I greatly appreciate his bedside manner and professionalism. His new location is right down the street from where we live. He appears to share the practice with several other doctors. The front desk staff is hit or miss at this location, and the turnover seems high. His current tech in 2025 is so lovely and sweet. He has been there for at least two years. If you need a Rheumatologist, I highly recommend Dr. Kevin Osgood.

I find it necessary to leave this…read morereview here because I almost canceled my appointment for the rheumatology side because of what I read on the Pain Care page. I have been in remission from psoriatic arthritis for about 3 1/2 years. After a battle with the flu and bronchitis my immune system was shot. I ended up having a flare up in my knee; swelling, stiffness, and loss of mobility. I could only walk with the assistance of a cane or crutches. My husband and I have lived in Austin for 1 1/2 years and (because I had been in remission for quite a while) I never found a Rheumatologist here. I was in a panic when every single rheumatology office in Austin was booked through spring. Advanced Care was the last call on my list and I was thrilled that they could see me right away. Yes, it's a pain clinic and there's an eclectic crowd of patients, but I cannot say enough about how great the rheumatologist, Dr. Ahmed, was!!! He took a different approach to addressing my flare up than my rheumatologist back home and at first I was skeptical. However, I was 22 when I was diagnosed and am only 28 now; I only ever had one rheumatologist and never thought to question him because of the hospital he works for. After lots of research I realized that Dr. Ahmed's approach was really the safer one. Dr. Ahmed prescribed steroids and was hesitant to perform a joint aspiration right away. I've learned that the aspiration is seen as invasive treatment and can jeopardize the joint. Yes I was in pain and uncomfortable (Dr. Ahmed would have prescribed whatever to address that, I'm just pretty oppositional to painkillers) but in the end I am happier about Dr. Ahmed's approach. I'm so pleased with him as a doctor that I would leave 5 stars. The only reason why I didn't was the wait time on my follow up appointment (for 9:40AM and didn't get into a room until 10:30) My husband and I are leaving Austin, otherwise I would have very likely continued seeing Dr. Ahmed for my arthritis. I just want anyone looking for a rheumatologist to know that you can get great care here. Don't be dissuaded by the reviews geared toward the pain management side!
