Shrey was the project manager and Marcus was the lead engineer. They worked closely with our architect to complete the initial structural engineering and were very responsive throughout the entire process. After we submitted the plans to the city, there were several questions and comments from the city, and the team responded quickly and worked with our architect to address them. Whenever additional discussion was needed, Shrey and Marcus were readily available for video calls with us and our architect to review the issues and resolve any outstanding items. Their communication and follow-up were excellent. Their pricing was also very reasonable, and overall we were very pleased with the quality of their work, responsiveness, and professionalism. I would definitely recommend SF Bay Engineering to anyone looking for a reliable and responsive structural engineering team.

I hired SF Bay Engineering for seismic retrofit plans under the Earthquake Brace and Bolt program…read more I was told architectural drawings were required before they could proceed, so I hired and paid an architect to prepare them. After multiple back and forth and with SF Bay Engineering admitting they aren't familiar with the requirements, they terminated the contract. They refunded their engineering fee, but the architectural cost remained my responsibility. I brought the matter to small claims court, and the court ruled that because I retained the plans, reimbursement was not warranted. I recommend future clients clarify in writing how architectural costs will be handled if SF Bay Engineering terminates the contract. Happy to provide additional details upon request

This is an exceptionally well-managed company, and every step of the process was handled professionally and efficiently. We obtained three bids, and Foundation Solutions was by far the easiest and most competent company to work with. They were willing to work with us on their proposal, and throughout the entire project they demonstrated honesty, integrity, and a commitment to doing things the right way. They use Ram Jack which was minimally invasive. They truly run their organization like a well-oiled machine. Our project manager, Brett Everling, was excellent. He kept us informed every step of the way, from the project planning to the city permits and construction schedule. Communication was outstanding, and everything proceeded exactly as promised (and even a little ahead of schedule). For a project of this size and complexity, it's remarkable that everything went so smoothly. The Foundation Solutions crew was punctual, hardworking, and incredibly diligent. They hand-dug the excavation areas, which was no small task, and they treated the property with care. The amount of concrete that needed to be removed was kept to a minimum, and the concrete repairs afterward were done nicely. We did have one issue with the sprinkler system after it was reassembled, but Foundation Solutions responded quickly and resolved it without hesitation. That level of customer service reinforced that we had chosen the right company.

I have used Jim and his crew on multiple projects. The benefits of using this incredibly talented…read moreand professional company are too many to list here, but I will highlight some of the major ones: 1) One-stop shop: From the beginning, Jim is involved in the process, whether he or his foreman performs the investigation, Jim will immediately consult with his structural engineers even in the early phase of producing the investigation results and cost estimate. Should the project require engineer's drawings to pull a permit, Jim is then able to handle this in-house, preventing the homeowner from having to take on this additional cost (and hassle) of finding a structural engineer themselves. The crew is skilled and able to handle extensive structural framing, house shoring, etc, so that you will not have to contract someone else to do this in conjunction with the actual concrete-related work that is going on. 2) Professional and courteous: Time and time again, I have had neighbors comment on the politeness and respect they receive from all of Jim's crew while they are working on site. Their work can often be invasive and noisy due to the nature of what is involved in repairing / replacing a foundation, which makes getting constant positive feedback about them a major bonus! 3) Office staff communication: From top to bottom, this company is stacked with competent and knowledgeable people. The folks working in the office are very communicative, attentive to detail, and - like the field crews - an absolute pleasure to work with! 4) Quality of work & affordability: Jim and his structural engineers have always produced insightful and cost-effective solutions. I have had the same scope of work bid by two other concrete contractors in the past, and Jim came out the most affordable, while never having to compromise the integrity and quality of his work. 5) Construction knowledge: Jim has been in the industry for decades, and that is apparent whenever you talk to him not only about foundation work, but anything at all related to the home building process. He is a wealth of knowledge, a wonderful resource to have on the project, and overall, like his entire team, a very lovely individual! I have complete trust in Jim and his team when it comes to foundation repairs and replacements.
