It's expensive but it's convenient because there is a drive thru and they keep your credit card on file so you are in and out when you go there. However within the last thirty days they lost four of my wife's brand new sweaters totaling $700.00. They lost the first two thirty days ago, my wife was upset but I insisted that we keep using the cleaners because mistakes happen. Then on 12/11/21 my wife went to pick up our dry cleaning and the cleaners lost another two of her brand new sweaters. At this point nothing has been done to compensate us for the loss and give the value of the sweaters and the frequency of the loss it's hard to believe that this is not theft. We just moved to the area and this place looked like a good spot for our dry cleaning. It's a nice space and convenient, with good turn around time. Friendly too. Now for the BUT.... We moved from downtown Chicago where our average dry cleaning bill was about $55 and the highest was $75. Our bill for an average size load here was $94!!!! We didn't focus on prices when we dropped off here, assuming it wouldn't be more than downtown and competitive when other spots. Definitely a wrong assumption. The prices are excessive. $3.64 per shirt and almost $11 for pants is a heck of a mark up! I lived in DC just three years ago, which has a higher cost of living, and my bill was never this high either. There was a discount on our bill as well but now feels more like a gimmick/tactic. I just waited in their drive through for 20 minutes. There were 4 cars in line. I was number 3. They couldn't find the first car owners 3 shirts so all of us waited while they looked. The second car had something wrong with their order so we waited in line because we were unable to move forward or backward. Perhaps when there is a problem that car could pull up and park while the cleaners tried to help the other customers. There are 2 service windows but both weren't being used. When I mentioned that I had waited 20 minutes, I was given a snarky, "We're very busy. Have a nice day." There are many cleaners around. They won't getting my business again. read more

We have used this cleaners for a number of years because of convenience and always like the driver who delivers and picks up clothes. However, the pricing has always been excessive in my view and I was shocked recently when I sent a shirt I purchased at a western store in Austin, Texas in for cleaning. The shirt cost me $30.00 to purchase new and when I sent the shirt in for what I thought would be standard shirt cleaning, I received a $10.00 bill for the shirt reduces 15% for good customer savings. The total price being about $8.50 for what should have been about $2.50. Since a cleaners opened up across the street with superior pricing, I have seen no reason to continue with Zenglers and my wife has finally began to come on board in this direction. Do yourself a favor and save some money and get a favorable job done with another cleaner. When Zengeler decides to adjust pricing, I may be back. read more

When they say "higher standard" they live up to it. The tailor at this location did me a huge favor on a jacket and they could have charged me a fortune and didn't. At the drop off, the lady told me she wasn't sure how much the total would be, which I thought would mean few dollars per item. Well guess what!!! At the pick up date they charged me $10 per item, my dry cleaning bill ended up being more than $96!!! This business is double the price of anybody else in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, theHighland Park, Glencoe and Winnetka area. Extortionist company. Do not get a carpet cleaned here if you do not want to get extorted. I called up and was told a 5x8 rug cleaning was $45. Came in, turned my rug in, re-confirmed it was going to cost $45. Got my ticket and was told to come back in two weeks. No big deal and was happy with the timeframe and ease of the ordeal. I wait two weeks, call in, they tell me my rug is ready but it does not have a price on it (red flag). They put me on hold and then come back and tell me its going to be $57. So, they have performed the service and then dangle my cleaned property in front me which forces me to pay them if I want it back for a price I did not agree to. I cannot speak to the other side of their business but I for one would not recommend utilizing their rug cleaning service unless you want to expose yourself to this type of thievery and shyster behavior. read more

This place is a big cheat, they send you coupons and have Groupon deals and when u try to use the coupons they charge you four times the amount it would have been at any other upscale dry cleaners as well. They charged me almost $25 for each coat and I got a whopping bill of $125 apart from my Groupon worth 50 bucks, total was somewhere around $175. I was very disappointed! I took my wedding dress there to get cleaned and heirloomed. Years later the box got damaged and I decided to take the wedding dress out and re-seal it on my own. Only to find out my dress was never dry cleaned. There was a stain on the inside of the dress by the hem from my wedding day and I am positive I showed them the stain and asked if it would even come out. They assured me the stain would be treated. I brought a very good beige suede jacket to the Long Grove store for cleaning -- when I picked it up, I was in a hurry and just put the item in my car -- upon returning home, I saw it was not my jacket -- when I returned to the store, I was informed that was definitely my jacket -- even though it is a size smaller than me and medium brown, as opposed to the light beige I had brought in -- some of the help have been rude to me and others, just fair -- I had heard of the GREAT reputation Zengeler cleaners had and could not believe what just happened to me -- they are NOT going to replace my jacket and still insisting the one they returned to me is mine -- I plan on broadcasting this to everyone I know and hope this review helps in letting people know they are not the 'great' business that everyone thinks -- they don't even deserve the one star, but have to do that in order to get this posted -- read more

I have been going here for three years and the service is always excellent. The workers are courteous and attentive. In the three years I have been going here I have only had one issue with a shirt, and Oscar the manager personally took care of the situation and exceeded my expectations. I used Zengelers because my local cleaners moved and I didn't know another cleaners in the area. I know that they are a bit more expensive but I was in shock when I picked up my 2 items. Yes 2 items for $25. A tunic length tank top and a lightweight jacket. That is an obscene amount of money. If I didn't need the clothes I would have rather left them there and not paid them at all. There is no reason at all for a cleaners to charge that much money for one piece of rayon and 1 of polyester. They weren't even expensive fragile fabrics. I read some other reviews and 1 person complained about a suit being cleaned for $19. I think he got a better deal than me. I would give zero stars if I could. Just terrible. read more

Don't drop your clothes off here. This place actually deserves a negative 5 stars! I recently stopped by here to have a "Clean" Dress altered and pressed. The alterations were good. HOWEVER, the dress I received back was DIRTY and had NOT been pressed. This was very upsetting; especially since I stressed to the guy who input my info and gave my claim ticket that I wanted this dress to be fully pressed. I pointed out the dirty on my dress & all the wrinkles. At first, the tried to say it had been pressed. I then pointed out to them a couple of creases on the dress that were their from shipping. They then agreed the pressing had been over looked. I then showed them spots on the dress that were not there when I dropped it off. They claimed the dirt was from the seamstress chalk and it would come out when it was pressed. I said fine, but I must have this by noon the next day. They said it would be ready. The following day I stopped in to pick up my dress. It had further dirt stains on the skirt of the dress and looked like it had barely been pressed. I spoke with the Manager Oscar and he honestly didn't care! I had to wear a dirty Bridesmaid dress to my friends wedding. read more

I dropped off an evening gown I had bought online from China with some stains, and was promised a 24 hr service. The charge was $42.Came back the next day, the dress was not ready. The following day, I received my dress back untouched. I wasn't even offered my money back! They gave me a store credit. According to the manager, they couldn't do anything about the stains... Upon my further inquiry, a worker from the back came out and said the stains were blood. When I came home, I rubbed them with some hydrogen peroxide, and the stains came right off. My family has been going to Zengler Cleaners since the 80's (or earlier). They were conveniently located on Dundee Road not far from where my parents lived. After I moved to NY in the late 80's, I continued to send my down pillows to them to clean. They do an excellent job of refreshing the feathers and enclosing them in a fresh case. I brought in a simple cotton short sleeve blouse and was charged $8.80 for cleaning - only to find out they damaged the neckline. When I went back to see what could be done, they blamed the manufacturer and wouldn't give refund for cleaning. I have been a Zengelers delivery customer for 25 years, but I am looking to switch because something has changed and no one within the company seems to care. My driver retired about 3 months ago, and since then, at least 50% of my orders each time have been cleaned or delivered incorrectly. I have placed numerous calls asking to speak to someone in management to understand and fix the problems, but they simply don't care. Picked up our daughters wedding dress, all cleaned and packed and heirloomed. Several long formal dresses were also cleaned to perfection. The other day my husband said to me Zengeler Cleaners really does a wonderful job on my dress shirts...I quickly told him that my mother (back in the 70s) used Zengelers in Libertyville for all her cleaning so it is a family tradition !! Everything I have had cleaned at Zenglers has come back to us in perfect condition and looking like new. Everyone I have had the opportunity to meet while dropping off in the drive thru lane has been wonderful and very helpful!!! Zengeler is near my office and they offered to do pick-up and drop-off service for the building. I thought great; sure it's more expensive but the time saving will make up for it. I was wrong!! They lost several of my items (and of course not the cheap items). When I called to inquire about the missing items I was told they had them and would drop them off the following day. Items were not dropped off the following day and when I inquired again was told they didn't have them. I asked about being reimbursed for the missing items and they gave me a claim form to fill out - which I thought was great - at least I get my items replaced. Wrong again, when I followed up a week after submitting the claim form I could not get a response. I've left multiple messages inquiring about reimbursement and still have not received any communication back. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT trust Zengeler with your dry cleaning! read more

Never, never again. My son dropped off his suit for One-Day Cleaning. He was to be a pall-bearer at his grandmother's funeral yesterday morning. When he arrived to pick up his suit, 2 hours before the funeral, we find out it had been sent out with someone else's order. Not only is a $900 suit missing; while all of his brothers (also pall bearers) were dressed in dark suits, my son was dressed in... khaki pants. read more
