    Room with sauna
    Miranda T.

Not bad for a last minute find. We didn't need an appointment - they accept walk ins, but you do need to request for a room with the sauna if you want that. We did the spa room for two people ($80), with the sauna ($30), and two towels ($3/each). Total came out to be $116 for the hour. The bottled water at the front is also $3. The service was good and the room felt clean. The room consists of the hot tub, day bed, shower, sauna, and Bluetooth speakers which was nice addition. I also liked that the ceiling above the hot tub had twinkling star-like lights. The only thing I would change is for the room to look more like the Yelp photos (candles, plants, etc). The Yelp photos made it look more intimate and romantic. But nonetheless, it was still decent and a relaxing experience. One hour was just enough time for us, but it does take time for the hot tub to get filled and sauna to get hot. Luckily, they were nice enough to give us an additional 15 minutes, which helped with the prep time. Thank you!! We will be back.

All sales are final, and no refund for service "complain" !?? That can't be legal.
    Michel D.

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, DISGUSTING AND JUST GROSS. Do yourself a favor, don't go if you don't like germs, and Google this word: "Kitschy" -- That about sums it up. Their tubs are disgusting and don't work, and they make sure you can't get your money back. Read the recent negative reviews and save your money. I should have done exactly that. This has to be one of the worst ever experience I've had with a business, and hands down one of the worst hot tub places in the Bay Area. If I could give this place a 0-star, I definitely would. There's a reason this place has spots always widely available and not booked solid for weeks like the other/better options in the area, which also happen to be much cheaper. TLDR -- The lady at the front desk couldn't have been nicer. The owner though (middle age Asian gentleman) is the absolutely worse -- He took our money even though they couldn't provide us with any service because the tubs were broken ... Aso, they're NOT hot tubs! They are repurposed bathtubs that you have to spend about a half-hour filling up yourself ... From the moment we arrived, we knew this was a bad decision (old, run-down building, questionable cleanliness and vibe), the rooms look nothing like the pictures, but we're willing to give it a shot. We had booked an hour and had to pay in advance. They showed us the tub room, gave us some instructions on how to fill the tub ourselves, and left. We start filling the tub, aware that it might take a while ... 30 minutes in (halfway through into our time), we're still waiting for the tub to fill, and there's only about 6 inches of water. The best of all, it's cold freezing water! Read previous reviews and you'll see people complaining about the exact same things. The owner knows about this and makes sure you can't get your money back (see attached picture). Eventually, we decide this isn't worth it and got our belongings to get a refund to leave, without wetting a finger. The owner refused to issue us a refund ($130) and we just left furious, and now I'm writing my first ever Yelp review. It was that bad! We filed a complaint and disputed the charge with the credit card company to get the money back.

She has completely stopped returning my messages or calls. At one point I called from a different number, pretending to want to book a treatment, just to get her on the phone. She apologized, promised me she was processing my refund, and said the first one didn't go through due to some mistake she had made on her end. Weeks later, and still nothing. She clearly has no intent on refunding my money, so I guess the next step is small claims court? What a disaster. STAY AWAY.

Ilana is a water mama. Her presence is medicine. I had my first session with her about a week ago…read more My mom had just passed away a week and a half before. I was feeling depleted and filled with grief. My inner kid was a rock for my mom for so long and never had a chance to fall apart, like she needed to. Ilana picked up on this and ever so gently held me with so much love, like I was her own little baby. In moments it was like the universal mama was holding me through her arms. Ilana has incredible attunement and care for the body, for transitions, and for deeply empathizing with the heart. I felt so safe and nourished. So cradled and brought back to life.

Having massage in a body temperature swimming pool is a wonderful environment for relaxing and also for a bit of an inward journey. But I'm getting ahead of myself. When I first arrived, Ilana was just finishing up with a client. My initial impression of her was that she was a kind, gentle and compassionate woman. She was finishing with an elderly client and asked my understanding in getting this gentleman safely to his car. She suggested I get in the pool and I did getting acclimated to a perfect temperature and already feeling relaxed. She returned thanking me for my understanding and slipped into the water. I had a great sense of well-being with her. She slowly went through the process we would be following making sure I understood . There are some non-verbal signals that are used to communicate between us and she was very thorough in making sure I understood exactly what she was doing. She put some floats on my legs and supported me in the water in a very soothing and calming way. While supporting me she drew me through the water. I felt a deep sense of security and calm from her. Eventually with the appropriate non-verbal communication, she took me under the water. That doesn't quite capture the experience. Rather I would say she gave me to the water! All the while, the peacefulness and serenity grew within me. I was completely secure in the knowledge that she was there supporting me through this peaceful process. At the appropriate time, with a hand gesture by me, she raised me to the surface. Numerous times she gave me to the water gliding me through it slowly twisting and turning being guided by a reassuring hand on this journey. It was so quiet and peaceful. The movement of my body under and through the water created a deep feeling of surrender. All too soon my time ran out and again with attention and support. she brought me to a place in the pool where I could slowly come back from my wonderful water journey becoming aware more and more of the outer world. It was a wonderful journey and deep experience of peace, security and surrendering to the water an experience facilitated by this tender, supportive woman . I am grateful!!

Everything looks modern and nice, relaxing environment despite being located in the tenderloin. 3. Hot Tub: Kabuki has a rectangle shaped hot tub as opposed to OnsenSF's square shaped tub. 4. Cold plunge: Kabuki has a cold plunge that's perfect for people who don't need it to be extremely freezing. OnsenSF has a cold shower with many heads in place of a cold plunge. Both are enjoyable experiences 5. Steam Room: Kabuki's steam room is also rectangular as opposed to OnsenSF's square room. Kabuki's steam room also has a shower to rinse off excess salt and sweat before entering the common area. 6. Showers: At Kabuki, there's also a line of stools for the seated handheld showers where you can fill a tub of water and pour it over yourself in addition to the traditional shower stalls, where OnsenSF only has the traditional showers if I recall correctly. 7. Sauna: The sauna was great because you could adjust the heat by moving up the wooden bleachers. There was also plenty of space to stretch out and lie down. There were wooden half-cylinder blocks to place under the neck and back to promote blood flow. My partner's favorite standout was the salt scrub they have that's free to take at the refreshments table. You use it to scrub away dead skin in the shower and steam room. My favorite was the bowl of towels buried in ice cubes that helped me keep a cool head in the hot tub and sauna room. I will say that the thing that makes OnsenSF stand out is their dining pop-ups, but there's plenty of dining options on Fillmore and in Japantown. I would definitely go back to Kabuki again. The experience was incredibly relaxing. Highly recommend.
