I love this place absolutely. I tried sushi in Japan many times and the quality of fresh raw fish (sashimi) here is as good as the average authentic Japanese sushi. The price is also good for the value you get here. One down side is their miso soup is too salty and for me as an asian it's absurd to pay for it as a side dish. Another issue I have recently is when I asked for a take away, the same sushi rolls turned out to be made with the seemingly lower quality fish. I learned a lesson that their fish stock has varying qualities but it was a bit of disappointment. read more

Great lunch menus which offer a variety of sushi sets and teriyaki, BBQ with rice come with a generous bowl of miso soup and a non alcoholic drink. Sushi are presented beautifully with great ratio of rice and fish/vegetables. Fish is fresh and well cut. I also enjoyed the grilled salmon sweet and sour noodle soup with exotic vegetables like okra and dill. The taste of this soup will bring you all the way to Asia. Last but not least is the fresh lemongrass, ginger tea. It will warm your heart in this coming cold season! So very happy to have such a nice restaurant in town! :-) read more

Absolutely love this place! The waitress was very friendly. We (3 of us) ordered from the business lunch category which has tasty and colourful combinations of maki, nigiri, insideout rolls... and comes with one miso soup per portion + one 0,3liter drink for free. The soup came 5 minutes after ordering. By the time we had finished our soup the sushi arrived. The sushi was no different than the depiction on the menu which tasted and looked awesome! It is possible to bring small children because there are highchairs and a children's menu as well. Would highly recommend going there and will definitely visit this place again! read more

This evening we tried a number of sushi plates and the duck special. Food was good but the service was below average. Riesling was not worth EUR6 a glass, totally flat. Best was the waiter asking loud "was everything Ok?" when we were already walking away (no tip)... :) read more

Nothing special - late lunch sushi for six. Unfortunately, sushi was cut and prepared very poorly - Maki ranging from 1 to 4 centimetres. Just really very un-japanese. Plates were nice, nothing extra special like I had in their Neuwied place before. Heard good things about this restaurant from some friends who live in Bonn, so perhaps my expectations were too high. Lovely service, ok price on the lunch menu, good portion size, but the sushi was so bland... The salmon was watery and tasteless, with rice which was overcooked and soggy. If you're looking for just an average sushi and want to have a full stomach afterwards, Papa Umi might be a good place to go, but I personally would rather go to other places for this price! read more
