Definitely not Zen! The Receptionist was rude and constantly entering the massage room yelling to her employees. I had a male massage person whose hands and breath smelled of stale cigarettes. The towels they use are old and rough. There was zero privacy so be prepared when they ask you to remove your shirt. You are basically exposing yourself to whoever is in the space. They also refuse to accept gift certificates that were pre purchased and paid for because they took new ownership so now we have to eat the cost of that. This place gives amazing massages for an amazing price. It's no frills , get down to business, but clean, relaxing and do an amazing job. I would have given this place 5 stars , but there are a few things that lowered that. 1st my massage therapist, whom was great, was obviously smoking right before he saw me. The smell of cigarette smoke was definitely a turn off and took me out of the moment. The other thing is it's a bit noisy in the room. This may be something they don't have control over , but you can hear the employees in the back room and noise from the business next door. The employees were definitely not being loud and being very respectful, but you could definitely hear them. Maybe turn up the music a bit? With multiple service offered, in time frames ranging from 30 to 120 minutes, my family and I decided to book a 60 min session. After a brief wait in the waiting room we were introduced to a room with 6 days beds where two women were finishing their massage. Their $35 deal for an hour session was amazing and our therapists were able to truly stretch out our bodies. We have been to this place for more than ten years. The owner was kind and some times her daughter in law or son worked there, also very nice and helpful. Recently, it was sold. The new owner keeps the business name and there was no sign of changing of ownership.. However, everything changed quietly and under the table. The new owner seems very money hungry. The price was raised with reduced services. They refused to accept the promotion card we earned from the past business we gave to this business, reasoning" new owner on board". Why don't they understand that when you keep the business name, not post any new price and service change, it is called bait and switch. The tables in use are falling apart. They hurt your backs and extremely uncomfortable. When we mentioned it to them, same answer, they spent money to purchase the shop and need to make money first before any improvements. So, customers have the responsibility to pay more with junk yard equipment for them to put more money in their pocket? Actually, the last straw was the front desk young female today who had nasty altitude and very ugly demeanors . We have been customers for years, since it opened over 8 years ago. First time back in a while and their method has changed. It's terrible! Felt like a light, sloppy massage on arms and feet. This used to be and SHOULD be REFLEXOLOGY. Should be pressure point focus and deep and strong method. Flexologist did not spend any time on hands or fingers. Gentle wipe if even that. Horrible foot massage, not traditional at all. Just rub, rub, rub. Then back RUB was fast/quick and repetitive in same spot (super annoying). Zen Reflexology: Bring back the original and traditional method. Focus on hands and feet with proper Reflexology techniques. This new method is a sloppy rub and not satisfactory. If you keep this method, you will be out of business in a year with no customer returns. read more

Okay, okay... so my girlfriend has been saying this place is amazing... today was the day to try it! As we walked in a friendly face greeted me at the door. I walked through long pink, satin curtains. As I was led onto a bed which I melted into.. wow... it felt like I was lying on a bed of clouds! The masseur placed a baby soft blanket across my body and with the slight of hand my feet were in a warm bucket of water. I was floating into a warm hug.... Drifting, drifting drifting ..... The masseur started with a head massage, shoulders, legs then OMG my FEET... WoooooooooooW. I was transform into a baby who was being swaddled. Every single toe was massaged and I mean every toe. Then I was told to turn onto my stomach and the masseur started on my back.... shut the front door! Then I heard a whisper "it's time to get up"..... Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! An hour already! Zen is set back in a corner of a retail development at the southeast corner of 92nd and Shea. The interior is just as unassuming as the exterior. There is a small reception desk with a service menu and super tacky, conspicuous red tip envelopes on top. (Side note: the women never gave their names, and the guy at the desk didn't seem to know who performed our services.) With an appointment, my friend and I were taken back immediately. Here is where I was a bit creeped out. It was a single room with six beds. There were draw curtains between, but they were tied up. It was dark, except for the doorway in the back, where the supplies and facilities were. Since the reflexologists (?) went back there often, it was dark and light at various intervals. A relaxing wood flute serenaded us in the background. So I have never had foot reflexology before, and wasn't sure what to expect. Neither was my gal pal, because she nearly lost it as the woman started to touch her face and hair. Funny, not funny. It was basically a clothed cranial and appendage massage, and was really great. Despite my nice service, one thing in there killed me...TIME. Though I could have gone longer, that's not even what I mean. There as a clock above virtually every bed, each with a tick louder than the last. The sound was reminiscent of 3 O'Clock High, as the main dude watched the clock in anticipation of the whooping he would undoubtedly receive when the bell rang. If you're worried about staying in track for service, please, for the love of Father Time, go digital! It was also distracting and weird to have other patrons coming in and laying down next to you in the dark. What a great find! My mother in law treated me today to my first ever Zen Reflexology massage. Great for a quick, cheap, relaxing massage when your out an about. It's nice because you get to keep all your clothes on rather then undressing for a typical massage. We made an appointment for 11am just a few days ago. They do accept walk-ins too. We were greeted promptly and brought to the back. The front is bright and simple with a small desk and a bunch of Chinese decor. There is curtains you walk through to the back where it's dark, low light, and relaxing music. There is multiple beds lined up separated with small curtains for a little privacy. Our masseuse greeted us right away and gave us directions on where to sit and what to do. You start with sitting on the bed, putting your feet in a basket of warm water, and laying back. The beds are very comfortable and provide support for head, sides, and arms which made me feel instantly relaxed. They cover you with a blanket and towel over your eyes to help you relax and be comfortable. She worked her way around for a full body massage starting from scalp, all the way to feet and ending with my back and neck. The foot massage part was my favorite! They really worked to massage every muscle and even do some pull/tugs to stretch out your arms and legs. The massage was incredible and I left feeling stretched and relaxed. It's very fair priced too at around $35 for 60min plus tip. I will definitely be back again! Highly recommend it to others. It's a different experience then your typical massage but I loved it. Great for tight calf muscles, forearms, and hamstrings after a hard workout. It was kind of nice being clothed to get up quick, pay, and then we went to lunch after since you don't feel all oily and gross after a typical massage. Can't wait to go back! Thank you! read more

Total incompetence and lack of professionalism. At 11:20 AM Saturday 04/13/19 morning, I schedule a 90-minute full body massage with XXX for 5 PM. The person answering the phone confirmed it. When I get there at 5 PM, they say there's no appointment for you at 5 PM. They acted like it was my fault and offered no apology. I'm pissed off. There's two of them at the front desk. She says we have a 6 PM appt with XXX. So I wait a full hour for my massage. 6 PM comes and YYY comes to greet me for a massage and leads me to open reflexology massage area and it's a guy. I'm like what's going on? I come back to the front desk to ask them what's up. I wanted a full body deep tissue massage not the general area reflexology massage. They said that's your appointment. I said I asked for XXX not YYY. She said adamantly that I asked for YYY. No I didn't. She said yes I did. I must have said I wanted XXX 4 times when I came in at 5 PM. They offered no apology for their mistakes and wasting my time and totally messing up the scheduling. They admitted to no mistakes and let me walk out like it was all my fault. I loved this place. Everyone speaks Cantonese or Mandarin (I believe - sorry if I am off), which makes me feel like I am in the right hands receiving an eastern medicine form of healing. The room was dimly lit and the music was soothing. I could hear the guy next to me snoring and it made me giggle a lot. He was put to sleep quick in his massage . I am pregnant attempting to induce as I went in on my due date and only got the foot massage but it also included some head, arms, and shoulders. The reflexologist gave me an extra pillow to support my lower back. The cost is affordable and, although I'm still pregnant, my baby and I were so relaxed and bonded throughout. We have been clients for years and today we (regular customers) went for foot massages after scheduling 3 foot massages only to be told at the end when it was time to pay -by your receptionist -that this treatment was now called a 'combo' and was $45 versus $35 for 60 minutes . The price was not the problem , but rather the 'bait and switch' act. Tonight's massages were NO different than any other night but she was insistent that we pay the new price for 'combo' because other customers said they wanted combo , blah, blah, blah. Needless to say, her manipulation was not received well by us and you have lost loyal clients who used to come monthly . Absolute affordable bliss. I've seen a negative review on this site and similar negative reviews on other sites of this place. I did not find those to be accurate. The comments I have read make me wonder if the customers that went here had the wrong expectation. My experience with numerous traditional reflexology places in Asia and the large Chinatowns of the US and Australia support that this place rocks when it comes to delivery of reflexology service. First, it is NOT a traditional, white-bread "day spa". It is a therapy place steeped in Eastern Medical treatment cultures. If you go here expecting the staffers to be plasticized Barbie Dolls or concerned about touchy-feely things such as cosmetics or aromatherapy, you will be disappointed if not downright shocked. The staff is old-school Chinese, right down to their communist-era leisure suit uniforms. Second, for $35 I received a full body massage with clothing on and special concentration on my feet for 60 minutes. That is a downright bargain. The strokes and techniques used are semi-rough and stimulating. This is not Swedish style baby strokes. It doesn't hurt but you do know you are being kneaded and you walk out feeling like a new person. If your idea of a massage is someone barely stroking your skin, you will not appreciate this. Lastly, I have rarely received massage of my back and neck with a reflexology treatment. It is usually limited only to my feet and lower legs. The extra areas covered are a pure bonus and totally worth the price paid. No, you are not on a traditional flat massage table but then again, this is not a traditional massage that most people are used to. I would encourage others to go here with an open mind and look forward to experiencing a massage based on Asian medical teachings. 2 thumbs up to this place in my book. read more

What a fantastic place! The people who rated this place poorly really have no idea about Reflexology. This is NOT Western massage! I booked the 60 minute and the foot work was combined with full body work similar to Shiatsu or Thai massage. Rick was my therapist and he was excellent. If you want someone to pour oil all over your back and rub for an hour, this is not the place for you.
