The gentleman that did my nails was very nice and friendly. However, the mani pedi I got not only hurt, the quality was some of the worst I've ever had. Idk if maybe it was an off day, considering a lot of reviews are great. But the first thing that made me nervous was when he tried peeling and chipping the gel nail polish off my toes without soaking in nail polish remover first. I told him it was gel, not regular polish, and he said he knew, "but sometimes you can still get it off that way". Which is a terrible thing to do since it also peels off a layer of nail and makes it weaker. He then electric filed it off, which I wasn't happy about, but it all happened so quickly. When he was cutting my cuticles, a lot of it hurt. It was just too rough, too fast, and he was yanking at the skin around my nails instead of gently clipping. I kept flinching and even pulled my hand back a little at one point but he never asked if it was too much for me and quite frankly at that point I was just trying to get it over with. The paint job on my toes is really bad. As well as how short he cut the nail on one toe. So short it's actually painful and raw feeling. There's also nail polish on the sides of my toes that he never got off, and some toes have lumpy thick polish that also has smudges and looks dull. My fingernails never fully cured in some areas, and by that same night, some nails were peeling, and the top layer of gel polish was coming off, revealing a sticky layer underneath. It looks pretty bad, and I spent $85 for it, so it was definitely a waste of money. I feel bad saying this because again, he was very nice. But it's an honest review, and maybe if I hadn't spent so much on it, like if I was getting a cheap quick job done, I wouldn't have complained. But overall, it was absolutely not worth the money and discomfort. read more

Today my daughter and her friend went in and they called ahead of time and tried to say that her and her friend were coming in and they rushed them off the phone. They went in and the women was extremely rude and told her friend to go somewhere else and got mad when both of them showed up. May I add that it wasn't busy the man was finishing up with some lady and the women was doing a lady's nails and then did her friends after a hour of shaping them and they turned out so bad that she had to go to rite aid and get a nail file because they were so bad. So did my daughter they had to completely fix them. I'm glad they didn't leave a tip.I recommend going to rite aid and do it yourself because it's a complete waste of money. read more

I came from 2 hours away to have fun in North Conway and figured I'd stop in and get my nails done here since it says that appointments are not necessary. I walked in at 2pm, there were 3 people in the entire salon. I was told "we don't have time for you right now, you need an appointment." Here's a tip, don't post that walk ins are accepted if you're going to tell people "by appointment only" when they walk in. I've never been to a nail salon where it was appointment only. I did not feel welcomed at all, I basically felt like I was shooed out of the salon. I said "oh, well you should probably fix your website then. I guess I'll go take my business elsewhere." Their response? "Bye." Poor customer service. Especially considering this is a tourist town, many people come here from out of town and that is not how you treat your customers if you want to keep your business afloat. I was just visiting the area and desperately needed my toes done. I walked in and had to come back because they were busy, but my schedule was flexible, so it was no biggie. They were very accommodating. They were a little quick and I felt rushed a bit. No menu of services and types of pedicures, which was different for me. I was never asked if I wanted any upgrades, etc, which I would have been happy to pay extra for. My pedi, however rushed, was excellent. The polish is still holding up well and I would go back here again. There's also a super sweet dog that welcomes you as you come and go. My advice is to come here for a great priced, quick pedi, but make an appt first. read more

While in the area for the weekend, it was a little too cold to swim so my friend and I decided to find a nail salon and get Mani pedis. We called a half an hour before we got there just to make sure they weren't busy. The man on the phone was nice and he said come on down so we went. Was a little sketched out walking into the back entrance because they have a lounge area in the back. We got a in the salon and it was clean, had a tv. They did a fabulous job and spend their time on my friend and I. Money well spent. I spent 55 for a Mani pedi but I got gel on my fingers and stuck with nail polish for my toes. read more

I had a few hours to kill last Saturday and based upon previous Yelp reviews chose to go here for a mani/pedi. Great decision! This is a welcoming, clean, quiet, well-ventilated salon run by a charming husband-wife team. They give a top-notch manicure and pedicure using great products, and that is saying something because I am very picky. I wish I lived closer, because I would come here all the time. Just to show you the vibe of this place, the next morning I had broken a nail and filed it down myself. But I did not own the OPI color used on my mani so couldn't totally fix it. I happened to drive by the salon and saw that they were open on a Sunday morning. I went in thinking I would ask to borrow the bottle to paint over the nail myself, but Minh would not hear of that, sat me down and fixed the nail for free. read more

I love this place! Stumbled upon this quiet clean place on an icy day, looking to kill an hour or so. A husband and wife team run the place and are attentive, sweet and skilled. Best pedicure I've had in a long time, and I go to one of the highest rated places in Boston. The husband was so incredibly gentle, I wish I lived closer so I could enjoy this experience more often! The pictures of this place are spot on -- very clean, lots of Opi nail color selections and a relaxing atmosphere. I was able to walk in without an appointment and the prices were very reasonable for a mani / pedi. The quality was great and the polish lasted for a long time, so I would definitely come back when I'm in town again! The only downside is that it can get very busy, and since there appear to be just the husband and wife team, the wait can get long. My friend chose not to get her pedi done because they had to take a break after her mani to provide service to two other girls that had an appointment. Since she didn't have the extra half hour to wait, she just cancelled that part of the service. So, I would definitely recommend making an appointment in advance. If you're a walk-in, then the service might take a little longer when it's busy. read more

This is an update of a previous review, as I read some negative reviews which seem to have come from people from out of town. First off, I have been coming here for years, and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. For those who complained that they were not taken immediately because Zen advertises walk-ins are welcome, not sure what they are supposed to do when other people have come in before you or have made an appointment. This is a husband and wife team, and they have two hands each. Others complained about the dog, which is one of the sweetest and loving pups I have met (locals love the dog). If the dog snapped (which I have NEVER seen happen), I do not believe the owner/s would have laughed. It's just not who they are. And regards to the statement that the couple were quiet or seemed standoffish, please keep in mind that people from other cultures have different ways of interacting in the world which may not match your own customs. If you engage in a conversation with them, they are lovely people and have a lot of interesting things to say. The place is spotless, and the manicures and pedicures are always perfect. I'm going to add that we love tourists in our area; its how many of the businesses make their living. But this is laid back environment that may be different from your home town. You may want to keep this in mind when you visit North Conway. read more

As a newcomer to the area I tried Zen for a pedicure. I felt very comfortable here and struck up a wonderful conversation with the lady next to me. The husband did a perfect job in very efficient manner..if anything it seemed too short a session which is always a bit disappointing when you're out for a relaxation session. The husband spoke English and engaged in conversation with us about places to eat in the area (this was a first in all my years at these quick nail salons!). Husband and wife team couldn't be kinder. I have been back twice and brought my Husband both times. We enjoyed a Mother's Day pedicure after climbing Mt Washington on Saturday. Perfectly calm and serene. They both talked about their kids but Most of all attentive service and I genuinely felt they were glad we came in. Pretty much the best nail salon I've been to, they blow every nail place out of the water in the Conway area. They always can usually fit me in as a walk in, and everything is clean and they are super friendly. I've been to Beautiful Nails and Nail Envy and those don't even touch Zen Nails. The main thing is, is that they really take care of what they are doing. Most pedicures at other places last about 20 mins, I've had ones here as long as 40 mins (and my feet weren't that bad). The first time I came in here a couple years ago I couldn't believe how much time they spent, in a good way. Another thing is the color choices, most places I feel have limited colors, mostly just shades of red and pink, they have a great variety especially for the gel colors. Don't think of going anywhere else, the prices are great $25 for gel manicure and I believe $35 for a pedicure. read more

I just had a wonderful pedicure here today! I had a last minute change of plans which left me with few hours to kill. This salon is clean and friendly and their massage chairs are fantastic. They have a large selection of Polish including Opi and China Glaze. Unlike other salons, their polish doesn't seem to have been thinned out with polish remover. The friendly gentleman who did my pedicure took his time and pampered my sore, neglected feet. I look forward to going here again! read more

We are from massachusetts but we are up in the north conway area very often. I have a regular salon that I go to at home but when I need to go to a salon in the north country, this is a primo salon.
