(***STEALING PRODUCT***) I have been a regular customer at Zen Leaf West Loop at 222 South Halsted for about a year and typically visit three to four times per week. Before that I frequently went to the Southwestern location and never experienced issues beyond slow service. A couple months ago I purchased a 3.5g container that had a broken outer seal and the inner plastic seal was missing. When I weighed it at home it was short. I reported it and received a replacement eighth, which I appreciated, but it did not seem like the issue was seriously investigated. Unfortunately the exact same thing happened again today. I purchased a 3.5g container of Find Everyday Cannabis flower, Singapore Sling strain. When I got home the seal was already broken and the product weighed short again. I called the store and spoke with a lead about the issue. Instead of listening to the concern, the conversation felt dismissive and unhelpful. The responses focused on questioning what I observed rather than trying to understand or resolve the situation. For a long time customer raising a legitimate product concern, the interaction was surprisingly cold and unproductive. Once customers leave the store they are not allowed to return with the product, which makes situations like this extremely difficult to resolve. After spending thousands of dollars with this company over time, having this happen twice along with the way it was handled is very disappointing. I hope management reviews both their product handling procedures and how serious customer concerns are addressed at this location. So incredibly disappointed in this place. Do better. read more

Giving it three stars because all of the bud tenders that I've worked with have been super helpful and friendly. The only issue I have with Zenleaf is that 1. No one knows when cash back/reward points end, meaning when you get cash back and want to stack them to use towards a future purchase, every employee tells you to use within 6 months or else it'll expire-but they don't have any idea when in the 6 months it's going to expire. Not that big of a deal but other places have expiration dates to their points so that's always nice. LASTLY: BRING BACK PAUL BUNYAN PLEASE- as I write this review on 8/2/24 they've had the same mediocre strains and haven't re upped the actual good strains in close to a month now. No one knows when they'll be getting more of the actually good strains which is quite annoying. I get that demand can be higher but some transparency is nice especially when they're not the only dispensary in this city. Also they close at 6pm on a Sunday? No bueno. Otherwise all the employees there are great! Ownership, step it up. read more

I used to go here a bunch. The last time I was in, one of the people at the front desk rudely told me I had to take my hoodie off. Customers are allowed to wear hats but not hoodies? Additionally, I have seen employees wearing hoodies. I spend thousands here, but will now take my business elsewhere, Cookies and D33 are never harassing. P.S. Christine was lovely, and she included some sleep aid edibles for free- exactly what my wife was looking for. We didn't even mention that! Meh, I had high hopes about this place after seeing the good reviews on Google. I visited on a Wednesday evening, walked in was not greeted. I presented my ID to the person at the counter, she didn't say a word to me & just handed my ID back to me. I was expecting some direction as it was my first time visiting. I typically order my stuff online at my other go-to dispensary, but decided to speak to a budtender after reading all of the great reviews in Google on how knowledgeable the staff is here. I approached the counter and asked for some advice on a good flower for insomnia. The guy just takes out his iPad and says, choose any of the indicas. Duh, I already knew that - I could've done that myself, I was expecting some recommendations. Overall the guy at the counter was not very helpful and borderline rude with his curt responses to all of my questions. I purchased two strains, one was a 30% off special. When I got home I noticed that the budtender didn't apply the discount correctly. I was able to jump on a chat with their CS to which the rep said they would credit me. I kept thinking this meant they were going to credit a refund to my debit cart, but no it was an in-store credit. CS should've made it clear that this was going to be an in-store credit. Fine, I decided to place an online order to use up my credit balance a couple of days later. In the comments of the order I noted that I had a credit balance along with a 10% coupon that I'd like to apply to the order. I show up at the store at my stated pick-up time. The counter staff pulls my order, obviously not reading any of the comments and proceeds to charge me the full price. I had to tell him twice about the credit & discount, to which he pulled another person to help make the adjustment. In the end the credit was applied but not the 10% off. Again, they weren't very friendly and seemed a bit annoyed over the ordeal. An issue on transparency, I called them before even visiting the first time, regarding the use of a debit card for payment. I was told they charge a $3 convenience fee to use a debit card for payment. However I found out later that it's basically an out-of-network ATM service charge. They've just folded the process of an ATM withdrawal into the check-out experience. What that means is that you can expect an additional service charge from your bank for using an out-of-network ATM in addition to the $3 convenience fee. Bring cash if you don't want to deal with this. There are many other dispensaries in the city that have much better customer service. I don't think I'll be going back to this one. read more

I hate being the bastard who low reviews places so im giving this spot 5 stars because the manager/owner has no control over attitudes of any workers. I came here regularly, twice a week. My last time visiting I dealt with the most entitled, clap-back-for-no-reason, budtender. Order was complete, about to hand me my product, then told me to remove my beanie as "no hoods allowed". I'm a 5'2 woman who came in and went through the entire process, paid for my product, then be told to take my hat off because apparently it was threatening. They said it was store policy but it really did seem borderline racial as two other clients were enjoying their time w their budtender and even had beanies and a hood on! Not to mention, I already paid! He/they told me it was policy. Felt more like a power trip. Haven't been back since and it's a shame that one bad apple could turn me off from an establishment I spent a lot of money at. read more

I've been to several dispensaries in Chicago. Today I stopped at this location because I had lunch nearby. THE WORST experience. When I walked in the women checking IDs were so nice. It all was going well until I went to the counter and had horrible service from this very young White woman today with long straight hair and baggy clothes. She acted very annoyed that I wasn't sure what I wanted and she did not make any attempts to explain anything. She was speaking to me in a loud voice like I didn't speak English. The complete opposite of my experience at other dispensaries. Meanwhile I'm looking at other people have better experiences and stay longer than my 5 min. First off, friendly staff! They carry specialty cannabis items, like the "iced" pre-rolls. If you are a smoker, I highly recommend you try. I also love the Dynamite Stix (both pictured). Other dispensaries usually only carry speciality items like these during special occasions, like Lollapalooza but Zen Leaf tends to have it much more often. Warning; they sell out fast!!! I have been there when there was a line. However, it moved very quickly. They are organized, staff is very knowledgeable, and great customer service. After one hit or the pre rolls all the weed poofed out, and this is the second time. They refuse to give me a receipt even after I called right away, took pictures of the mess in my car and everything else they requested. Originally when I called customer service they didn't say anything about having the receipt. They made me go back to the store for the receipt which the store couldn't give me because the strain sold out. Now because I don't have my receipt I can't get a refund no matter what. It's sickening how these businesses overprice and overcharge us and don't even make things right after selling us defective products. I will never shop with this company again. read more
