1/2 caprese sandwich

We enjoyed our outdoor lunch. It was a busy weekend, but we were able to get in quickly. Server was friendly and attentive. We shared but had plenty and the crab melt was plentiful. Hugo Spritzes were good. Unfortunately soups came out not as hot as we would have liked.

This overall rating is really low. This is not a 5-star choice but it's definitely better than the rating you see when you pull it up. There's a lot of table right on the beach, super cool vibe and a great view while you eat. We sat inside since there was no wait for indoor lunch and we still had a great view of the pier and the beach while we ate. The food was good, definitely better than the rating would imply. It wasn't anything Michelin star worthy but for the price, it was what I expected. I ordered a burger which was juicy and flavorful, bacon was a little soft for my liking but the few crunchy pieces were very good. The fries were really good, crispy and salty, just the way I like. Our server was excellent. She was attentive, friendly, and professional. Kept our drinks full but wasn't hovering. Great service!!

We came in the past & LOVED it, but this time wasn't good. We actually left & went to Margaritaville instead. They changed their chairs outside to these crappy plastic ones, which are not good for tall, heavier guys, so we had to sit inside, where it was very cold with no service. Service took forever on the inside before we were even acknowledged & he never came back after delivering drinks. We came for their amazing Artichoke hearts & were told they aren't served until 430 with the dinner menu. The Mai Tai was good & strong; the skinny spicy margarita was also good. We had to go to the bar and pay because the server never came back, and they apologized, saying he had a very full section outside, but it's still unacceptable not to keep up with his tables inside. If the outside is so busy, someone else should watch the inside vs losing customers.

Ahi Poke is great nice and refreshing.

Amazing food with an unbeatable beach view! Had a great experience here in Capitola! The location is awesome -- literally right on the sand with beautiful ocean views, making it the perfect spot to grab a meal and enjoy the beach atmosphere. I ordered the clam chowder, ahi poke, and Chipotle Chicken Sandwich, and honestly, everything was delicious. The clam chowder was rich and flavorful, the poke was fresh and really hit the spot, and the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich was packed with flavor. It's not often you find a place where you can get great food and an amazing beachfront setting at the same time. Definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're spending the day in Capitola. Great food, great location, great beach vibes. Definitely coming back!

We girls were missing beach which led to a quick SantaCruz trip and that is how we landed at zelda's for a late lunch or rather a early dinner. The location of this place is stellar with beautiful ambiance. The menu is typical American food with lots of choices, we settled for nachos and burrata with spicy margaritas and lemon drops. The food and drinks were great. My only disappointment was the service, we kept waiting nobody stopped by to check or to provide us with menu, so decided to walk to over and get one. However, it got a bit better once we ordered the food. Had a good time and wiurk recommend this place to hang out with friends and family with beautiful ocean view!

A day spent by the beach led us to have lunch at Zelda's. This is not my first time here, but definitely my first review 'cause this time I told myself I have to review this place. We sat indoors this time with the table facing the beach. Seating was prompt, but service took a while. The table felt a little grimy. The table host was nice, very polite. It's the menu and the food that needs a big revamping! Same menu as the last few times; friends ordered fish and chips, chowder in a cup, and I got the Caprese sandwich with fries. And the chowder did not come with the salad. It's sort of boring to have the same thing and it's so few choices! Also a bit too pricey for a very small bowl of chowder. I understand it's a tourist place, but really what about the locals!?!?

The food was so good. And the view being right in the beach is awesome. Love theta they allow dogs in the patio. Service is good when hey are slow. I have found at busy times we get less check in's from the server. My favorite is the Calamari appetizer. Clam chowder was good. The grilled salmon is excellent too. Had the Milanese clams this time and they were so so. Kind of bland. The pain killer cocktail is perfect for the beach vibes.

Every time I'm in the area I go to Zelda's and I have never been disappointed. I had the calamari and it was nice and crispy. Had the clam chowder with a salad and it was delicious. Salad was more than adequate and fresh. The chowder was very good with lots of clam. Service was friendly and attentive. It's located right on the beach so the view is unparalleled. Love it. Parking always tight near the restaurant but there is a parking lot nearby

The service was quick and fast and I enjoyed my cheeseburger! The waterfront ambiance was great but for the price the burger was pretty expensive.

Billionaire Margarita double shot baby!

The ladies and I needed to kill some time so we decided to stop by here before checking into our hotel. The restaurant is literally steps away from the beach. Amazing view on a beautiful day....you really can't beat that. We ordered a few cocktails and a basket of fries. The drinks were exceptionally good. I ordered the billionaire margarita. I have to say that was a pretty strong drink so I was feeling pretty good lol. Our server was friendly and attentive. It was easy for him since we didn't order any food except for the fries. I would totally go back here again just for the view and drinks.

If you're looking for a relaxing spot to enjoy beachside views and a laidback atmosphere, Zelda's fits the bill. The restaurant sits just steps from the sand, offering a panoramic view of the ocean that's hard to beat. The salty breeze and gentle waves and window seating create an easy, unhurried vibe perfect for unwinding after a long day. The food itself was fine. Portions are fair and they have a breakfast menu (until 2:00) and brunch menu in the day that offers a good variety. They also serve dinner as well. For what we had, the flavors were serviceable rather than standout, the kind of meal that's enjoyable in the moment but not memorable. Everything arrived hot and neatly plated. The server was genuinely friendly and attentive, without hovering, and the restaurant was clean.

For me this breakfast was all about the view. It was a bit rainy so outside seating was not an option but this was the next best thing. The breakfast dish I ordered was aptly named, Basic Breakfast. It was all I wanted so I was not expecting frills. The eggs were decent but not super flavorful, I needed to add some salt and pepper. The bacon was cooked fine, not quite as crispy as I like, but I'm picky with bacon. And the potatoes were good. I really liked my iced latte I got with sugar free syrup. If you are stying near capitola village and want some decent food with an amazing view this is the place.

Calamari & Fries
Gina S.

Views and drinks were stellar, food was ok, service was good. I absolutely loved being steps away from the beach! We came on a weekday for a late lunch and were seated very quickly. My strawberry lemonade cocktail was perfect on this warm day and had the right amount of sweetness, tartness, and alcohol. I started off with a cup of chowder, which was pretty darn good and then shared some calamari and fries with my husband. The calamari definitely could have had a little more batter and been crispier but I did enjoy the fries. I would return for drinks and views!

This place is awful. It was dingy, dirty, awful service, bland food. Can't think of any pluses...even the view can't save this joint.

The Happy Hour menu on their website only lists drink specials. Do they have Happy Hour appetizer specials as well?

What is the 4% surcharge? Is this for large groups/parties or is it for everyone who eats here?

I asked my waiter and was told it's post Covid cost of living increase. What it means is that the company or owner is too cheap to cover medical for employees or fare wages so it gets passed on to consumers. Not sure why they don't just raise…

Do you serve pasta?

On the dinner menu they have several pasta dishes, including a Seafood Fettuccine.

Do you allow dogs with outdoor seating?

Yes they do!

When will you reopen? We love coming to your restaurant when we are in town. Thanks.

They were open when we went today, 7/2/2022!

Is Zeldas still open ? I've tried calling and there is never an answer

We are currently closed remodeling our coffee bar. We will reopen soon

Is outdoor dining open tomorrow?

Yes Indeed! Enjoy your day!! Make sure you bring your mask. You can take them off when you eat and drink.

Would they host a private party?

Yes

What time does the kitchen close?

9:30pm

Parking was available on nearby surface streets and was pretty easy to find. Service throughout the evening was pleasant although I did get the vibes that I had to hurry on out towards the end of my meal and I was only there for an hour...interesting. Loved the dining room featuring an open kitchen along with a few seats facing the street. The dining room was slightly uncomfortable, as it was quite stuffy and warm, despite the door being wide open. Perhaps, A/C isn't a thing in Santa Cruz? Started off with the avocado and cucumbers and it was excellent. Super light and refreshing with contrasting textures which made this dish an A+. Moved on to the local king salmon, requested medium and it came out medium well+... The crispy skin was the highlight of this. Loved the texture of king salmon along with the accoutrements including the jimmy nardelo and squash. Finished off the meal with the panna cotta which was surprisingly on the bland side. The orange was very fresh and the pistachios were tasty though. ~$90/head after tax and gratuity for dinner.

It's got a modern vibe and the service is very friendly. The food was excellent!! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The sourdough bread is superb, probably one of the best we've ever had. The lettuce salad was super fresh. The halibut was cooked perfect with a delish broth. The pork belly was delicious but probably too rich, even for a pork belly (we shared the mains so having half the pork belly dish was just right for me). Drinks are interesting - I had a house-made apple cider something shrub and it was tangy with the right amount of sweetness to take the edge off. Loved this place! The logo of the place I must said doesn't scream out to me but when you look inside the interior of the restaurant, it's gorgeous, relaxed and modern.

The food here is always fun, fresh, and consistently good. We shared the carnitas omelette with sourdough toast, and it was excellent--lots of flavor and a perfect start to the morning. We also had a couple of Irish coffees, and the homemade whipped cream definitely put them over the top. Another huge plus is the dog-friendly patio. Our little guy Milo was very happy to join us for breakfast--and maybe even happier when some bacon came his way. Great food, friendly vibe, efficient service, and a patio where we can bring the pup. We'll definitely keep coming back!

Yelp Elite Review: Where the Coffee Is Bold & the Stories Are Even Better…read more Some restaurants serve breakfast. This place serves breakfast with a side of Santa Cruz history. This spot has been around for years, and when my boys were younger, we would come here after a day at the beach. It has gone through a few owners over the years, but the improvements they've made are awesome. The place still has that classic beach-town chill--lots of laughter, good food, and people enjoying life. Parking? Let's just say Santa Cruz and parking have never exactly been best friends. But once you get inside, you have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating, and it's worth the effort. One of my favorite things about this place is the history. For years, a group of local fishermen have been coming here. Two of them are still regulars, sitting around telling fish stories. And if you know fishermen, you know those stories have probably gotten a little bigger every year. My wife and I split the all-meat omelette, and it was delicious. They also do a fantastic job with the hash browns--crispy, hearty, and exactly what you want with breakfast. The coffee deserves its own paragraph. Bold, flavorful, and strong enough to make you believe you can conquer the day. Our server was wonderful. She has worked here since graduating from high school, and you could tell she genuinely cared about taking care of people. Friendly, positive, helpful, and the kind of service that makes you want to come back. There's a wonderful selection of food, but honestly, part of the experience is simply being there. You can almost feel the decades of stories in the walls--families, fishermen, beach days, laughter, and countless cups of coffee. This isn't just a place to grab breakfast. It's a place where Santa Cruz history is still being served--one omelette, one cup of coffee, and one slightly exaggerated fish story at a time. Our niece had also heard really good things about it from other students, so we figured it was worth checking out and I'm so glad we did! My partner and I both got the B.A.E. sandwich, while our niece got the Spam sandwich. For drinks, I ordered Alex's iced coffee, my partner got the jasmine lemonade, and our niece got an iced matcha latte. We also shared an order of the Dirty Tots. Everything we ordered was so good, but what really stood out to me about the B.A.E. sandwich was how fluffy the eggs were. I feel like that alone really elevated it and made it different from a typical breakfast sandwich. I also loved the bread it was soft, fluffy, flavorful, and worked perfectly with everything inside. Another thing that really made the sandwich for me was the sauce. I'm not exactly sure what was in it, but it mixed so perfectly with the eggs, bacon, avocado, and bread. Without it, I feel like the sandwich could have been a little more basic, but that sauce added so much flavor and tied everything together. It honestly made the whole sandwich feel complete. The B.A.E. was easily a 10/10 for me. As a coffee lover, I was also really happy with Alex's iced coffee. It had the perfect balance not too sweet, but not too bitter either. The Dirty Tots were another favorite. The tater tots were really crispy, and we loved the curry flavor incorporated throughout. The fried egg on top was also such a cute addition. It was a little messy, but nothing we couldn't handle and definitely worth it! The spot itself was very lively and popular, especially with students, so it was pretty busy when we went. That being said, for the quality of the food, we really didn't mind waiting. We all left really happy with what we ordered, and this is definitely going to be one of those places we come back to whenever we're visiting our niece.
