The legend of Zen
Fox E.

The legend of Zelda was an awesome video game, and has absolutely nothing to do with this tiny little boutique in Baltimore's most expensive, fancy, quaint shopping and nightlife area - Fells Point. We actually spent a decent amount of money in here because my partner in boutique crime found way too many things she wanted. I can see why. It's not the cheapest but the woman serving us was so nice and helpful, and the selection of all kinds of otherworldly and eye-catching items was magnificent. I think Bush would agree with me when I say that if you're in Baltimore, and want to buy necklaces, jewelry, handbags and such, then you should get "Everything Zen." If you can afford it.

Fun store with an interesting inventory: artwork, stationery, lots of jewelry, home decor. I bought two pairs of very fun earrings! The saleslady was very friendly and helpful. On the way out, I saw a gorgeous piece of art by Chris Antieau! (She has her own gallery in New Orleans.) I'll return to this place!

How many store owners would make a list of restaurants you should try while you're in town?!

Stopped into this cute little shop a year or so ago while wandering Fells Point. The owner, a woman was extremely pleasant and attentive without being overbearing. The store has lots of jewelry and gift items. I wound up buying a cute pair of earrings (see picture). She wrapped them up in a cute little bag with ribbon for me. We chatted while I checked out & I mentioned I was visiting and she was more than happy to provide recommendations on places to eat. She even wrote them down for me! Will definitely keep Zelda Zen in mind for the future!

Charming- handmade souvenir for our own home. Baltimore.

Great store IF you like unique, hand made items you'll treasure!!! To us a perfect Vacay Day Bucket List Is: 1) Great food and Drinks 2) Art and Music 3) Historical and interesting architecture 4)Great shopping. The friendly people and positive vibes helped us enjoy FELLS POINT in Baltimore which is the perfect place to satisfy it all. Charming cobble stone streets, smells of food, sounds of great music alongside this magnificent harbor set the perfect tone for a perfectly wonderful vaca day. We had lunch at Thames Street Oyster House- (see review)which is in the midst of galleries, bars and steps from Zelda Zen. Nice variety of items for sale. Many are from local artists and I think most if not all things are handmade. I regret not purchasing more things now that we're back in California. Awesome earrings and several clay sculptures for the wall are haunting me. I will return! Oh yeah, I think she ships! I recommend getting to this store when you get into the Baltimore area. I didn't photograph the bag that held my goodies, but she wrapped each item in sturdy and colorful paper and set the bag off with a darling fall themed bow . I didn't request this/ the owner just adds that extra touch.

What an awesome little shop. I was equally charmed by the owner as by the fantastic array of great items. Will be back!

I visited Fells Point over Easter Weekend and checked out some reviews online to see what was interesting before going.

Ten Thousand Villages is a delightful little shop in Fells Point I've passed by many times, but…read morenever visited until 9/15! It has a bazaar feel (though a bit more vanilla) with a ton of random items and tchotchkes. A friend and I spent a nice 30 minutes in the store, possibly touching everything, but enjoying every second of it. The salesperson interacted with us from behind the register area, but was very hands off, which was cool during our exploration. I ended up purchasing a fabric softener ball with a cat face on it AND some cute, VERY heavy, cat shaped salt and pepper shakers. There were a million more things there I would buy, so I'll definitely be back.

I went inside because of their gorgeous window displays and was pleasantly surprised by their…read morediverse selection of items... ALL Fair Trade! I was on a browsing and getting-holiday-ideas mission today, so I only bought a few small things; a candle, a soap bar, and a chocolate bar. The chocolate was SO good, and the candle and soap both smell amazing. Thanks to the staff, I learned that the candles help young moms in Chicago, the soaps help children go to school in India, and the chocolate helps small farmers across South America. I love that everything comes with a story of hope and helping someone. I will absolutely be going back soon to buy some gifts for my loved ones!! And maybe more chocolate for myself ;)

Absolutely wonderful if you want to furnish an apartment on a budget. The prices are negotiable on…read moreeverything so they can be talked down. There are some beautiful pieces in there and the staff were cool. There is a $400 delivery fee for 5-6 furniture pieces.

I was condescended to, bullied and threatened here today by a sales person and it was so shocking I…read moredon't know what to say. This dude was so instantly nasty to me, dismissive, condescending, just awful. I literally don't even know what I did wrong but try and buy a stack of books and try to get a discount cos I was buying a whole stack! Never ever before met a rude person here in the twenty years I've been coming (since before ravens stadium was built and they were across the street). I've bought thousands of dollars worth of appliances here (2 $500 stoves, a $1000 fridge, two dishwashers, and two washers and dryers), not to mention hundreds upon hundreds worth of lumber, trim, windows, doors, miscellaneous hardware, etc. I bought 400 dollars worth of upholstery cloth one time alone. I come in, I don't mess around, I know what I need and I am a friendly nice customer. (Because they use your phone number when you buy, also? they should be able to SEE this). I was buying BOOKS. Books are not their main business (and to be honest their prices are so out of scale it's crazy compared to thrifts--10 dollars each for a used hard over cover book from the 80s? I think there was one vintage item or two--I collect golden book kids encyclopedias) In the past they've basically tried to GIVE me books I wanted to buy! I wasn't buying anything from the "special glass cases. I asked Josh what they could do for me on these 20 books that I promise no one wants. (I promise). I picked up so many cos I have always been given a little break on stuff here! It's literally the way I thought they do business!!!! Nope. Not a single red cent. Off ANY book EXCEPT one they wanted 20 dollars for that didn't cost 20 new! (No it was not old or vintage!) I had 100 bucks of books in my cart he couldn't do 80? He wouldn't even discuss it and when I was frankly totally taken aback by this since it's so counter to EVERY EXPERIENCE IVE HAD THERE FOR OVER 20 YEARS--he threatened to call security on me!? For trying to bargain?????? These were all crap books. I want them for myself and to show my husband AND I make art from them. I'd have paid literally 10 for every set of four of these books at thrift. They wanted 10 and 15 dollars EACH. It wasn't just he wouldn't deal at all on price. He treated me like a criminal for no reason at all. He had his hand on his walkie talkie and when I kind of laughed just thinking he was driving a bargain he said he was going to call security on me!!!! He did this because I had the temerity to say "come on, not any discount at all? I'm buying in bulk!" And I mentioned I've never had them not come down on price on anything ever! I am a short, friendly 53 year old mom. fyi. What the living heck is going on with this place? It was SUCH an unpleasant and weird experience. I feel horrible. I will take my business to loading dock.
