    Food Truck Zeko's!
    Michael S.

Food truck that deserves a better rating, so I'll try to help them out! Though I'm starting to cool a bit on the whole food truck craze due to a lot of sub par food at high prices, Zeko's does a pretty good job at Greek cuisine! I had a Chicken Gyro that was quite tasty! Filled nicely with seasoned grilled chicken, tomatoes, onions, and a couple other surprises. This was quite filling and a decent price of $8 for food truck prices. You could certainly do a lot worse than giving these guys your business!

Zeko's Pizzeria & Grill brick and mortar restaurants have been serving the Piedmont Triad since 2005. In September, they went officially mobile with the Zeko's 2 Go food truck. You may have seen them at the NC Food Rodeo, Woofstock 2014, the Kernersville Food Truck Festival at The Brewer's Kettle, or the Great PumpkinPalooza. We threw caution to the winds on Tuesday and decided the risk of frostbite and hypothermia would be worth it if we could try a new food truck. We met up with Zeko's 2 Go in Winston Salem, scanned the chalkboard menu quickly, and placed our order while keeping bundled up to stay warm. We started with the Greek Chicken Pita. The thick, heavy pita had been lightly grilled and was stuffed with white meat chicken, crisp lettuce, sliced tomato, and chunks of feta cheese. A subtle drizzle of oil and vinegar dressed the sandwich. We would love to ratchet the vinaigrette up a notch with more herbs on this healthy pita. Jerry and I have an exceptional fondness for gyros, especially lamb. There was ample grilled lamb and tzatziki sauce (yogurt with minced cucumber, garlic and lemon juice) on the Lamb Gyro along with lettuce, tomato and crunchy red onion. Zeko's 2 Go had several options for the younglings. We had a slice of the cheese and a slice of the pepperoni pizzas (crust was hand-tossed thickness/style). Shakers of crushed red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese were available. The Chicken Tenders & Fries came with three tenders, BBQ sauce or Ranch for dipping, and a good portion of crisp, hot fries that had been lightly spiced with seasoning salt. Our favorite of the day was the Philly Steak & Cheese. Sauteed mushrooms, onions and green peppers combined with lean beef and melted cheese to create a moist, hearty, filling sub. The roll was fresh and soft. This went on our list of things to order again. They were at the Shea's Chase 5K run .. the Gyros were yummy and the seasoned fries were better than expected from a food truck.

Had Zeko's for the first time today and it was sooooooo delicious! Had the lamb gyro with fries for about $10 and it was worth it! Had a very generous amount of lamb that was very well seasoned and actually had tzatziki sauce on it! A lot of other places have "cucumber sauce" that has has chunks of cucumbers, but Zeko's sauce was nice and smooth and creamy, just delicious! Will definitely be returning!

I ordered the jerk mac and cheese and the flavors were really good but boy was it salty! I'd love to try it again but maybe a different flavor. I've had it from the food truck before and it was amazing. So I believe it's still a good restaurant to try. There is more so a waiting area than sitting so if you come, I would suggest taking it to go.

We stopped by their brick and mortar location about 4pm on a Saturday which is located at 5002 High Point Road in Greensboro. They have limited hours. They are closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and open from 2pm to 8pm the rest of the week. We were very surprised when we walked inside. It was nothing like we anticipated. There were no tables. It is located in a small strip mall where everything looks similar on the front with the signs above the establishments. We actually thought we walked into the wrong place, the walls were black with chairs around the perimeter and the center completely open. There were a couple of framed Chicago Bulls posters on the wall and one TV mounted on the wall near them. There were three posters with inspirational messages on them and a drink cooler. Someone came to the counter shortly after we walked inside. All items are packaged to-go. The menu was on the counter where you place your order with the register next to it. After checking out the menu, we thought the prices were high but we had anticipated that based on other reviews. We each decided on The Original Mac for $15 each. We had a seat at two of the chairs against the wall. No one else entered or left while we were there. Less than 15 minutes after we placed our order, we were provided with our to go order. The bag felt very heavy and we proceeded to our car to check them out. After opening and distributing everything which was very nicely packaged, we opened the containers. The top was a little hard as if it had been baked in an oven. After breaking through the top, the inside was very creamy with hot penne pasta mac and cheese and bacon crumbles. It was delicious! This is some of the best mac and cheese we have had. Although this was pretty amazing, the cost feels like too much for the masses and the physical location definitely needs some work. We may be back, but this will not be a regular visit. There are too many other places out there to try.

First off, this isn't just a random food truck. There is such an incredible story behind it. It's run by Gary and his best friend Alex, who have been friends since grade school back in Mexico City, Mexico!! You can feel that deep history in the way they run their business. There's a level of trust, energy, and authenticity that you don't usually see, and it trickles down to the entire team!!!Every employee I interacted with was genuinely happy, welcoming, and proud to be there (which says a lot) especially during these times. They've also set themselves up in some of the best spots around. I visited : 1) Summerfield Farms. 2) Oden Brewing Company. At both locations, you're not just grabbing food, you're getting a whole experience! Plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. Live music, dog friendly. The menu is simple, affordable, and done right. We got to try 4 different tacos, their queso dip, and their churros, and everything delicious! The meat was seasoned to perfection, super juicy, and full of flavor without being overcomplicated. But what really made this experience unforgettable? I got invited onto the truck to make my own churros!! let me tell you, that is not something you get to do every day. It was hands-on, fun, and honestly one of the most unique experiences I've had, collaborating with another business. By the end of it, it didn't even feel like a transaction anymore, we became friends! Taco Bros isn't just serving food, they're building up thier community. And that's something you don't come across often.

Overall the truck seemed very clean and hygienic for a food truck. The staff was incredibly friendly and organized. The food came out quickly and was piping hot. The prices are a bit high which is common for food trucks. Guac and chips was $10 and the chicken quesadilla was $14. One thing that would have been a nice touch was Jarritos. The chicken quesadilla was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. It was good sized and stuffed full of chicken, onions, peppers, and cheese. Overall we enjoyed Taco Bros and would definitely try them again at another event.

Bao Yeah offers not only bao but bowls and fried chicken as well. Their ordering (via tablet) is convenient, and they turn around orders quickly. I went with a three-piece bao, which allowed me to sample the two fried chicken varieties (K*Bomb with gochujang and Garlic Gang with soy black garlic) as well as the bulgogi. All of the bao were amply stuffed with meat and pickled vegetables and slathered with tasty sauce. The thick buns held everything in place, so eating was not too sloppy an endeavor. Everything delivered the expected flavors - sweet heat from the K*Bomb, a tangier note from the bulgogi - and the fried chicken boasted a thick, crunchy batter. It was quite tasty though the chicken was definitely a bit dry. At least the bulgogi was nice and tender. All told, Bao Yeah is a promising newish addition to the Triad food truck scene. It may not be the best Korean street food you've ever had, but you're in for a flavorful meal without a long wait.
