The chocolate eclairs that I got from the Capital Harvest on the Plaza farmers market in DC was divine. The pastries rotate around different farmers markets, will have to check out their Tyson's location! Twin Valley Distilleries - The whiskey and flavored rum tasting was too tempting to pass up a bottle! The sweetness of the fresh juices perfectly masked the rum, cutting the alcohol content to 15% ABV. Refreshing and perfect for a warm summer day with a nice kick! We bought all 3 flavored rums at $25/each - Hibiscus Sorrel, Fruit Punch, and Pineapple. Potomac Sweets - The croissants and decadent pastries looked scrumptious! Although the pastries are stored in a glass display case, they are still baking under the sun and are dry and stale. The brownie was alright. Recommend grabbing a pastry here bright and early when the market opens. Senzu Juice - Refreshing cold-pressed juices. The "Refresh" Watermelon Mint juice is my favorite. Liberty Delight Farms - All sorts of dog goodies from raw bones to chunky pieces of dried beef heart and chicken/beef liver. Treat your dog at the market! Butterfly Spirits - The 4 pack of Eldenflower Seltzer is boozy and delicious! Twin Valley Distillery - The Apple Cinnamon Whiskey costs $29 is refreshing and pairs well with apple cider and prefer it over the flagship 1812 Blended Whiskey at $42, which isn't that smooth. I do agree that this isn't so much a farmer's market as a bunch of prepared food and drink vendors, for the most part. Once (or if) you get over what you thought't'd be based on the name and get into what it is, it's really fun! I really enjoyed talking to all the vendors -- they were all very friendly and open, informative and I must say, joyous! Some were also a bit apologetic for being out of certain things, because I went at the very end when some things were sold out. There was still a great selection, though! I obtained much deliciousness from Rosemary Bistro Cafe in the form of Local Grilled Stuffed Zucchini, Watermelon Gazpacho, saucy beans, and a many-greens soup. This alone fed me for days .... There was also a great and greatly innovative cross-cultural mix in the Black Bean Hummus from Layla's Food Company, and a most wonderful Pesto Genovese from Open Hand that I used to make a beauteous pesto pizza -- mmm! I went there two weeks ago and bought veggies and fruits. It was not my first time there. I have bought from them before and mostly before Covid19, when we used to meet with friends. Do you remember those days? However, I am planning to go more often. All of their items are locally grown. I support them whenever I can because I love to support our local markets and farmers and you should do the same From that moment, I decides not to get my fruits and veggies from big chain business where their produce comes frozen and God knows what kind of pesticides or chemical they used on them. Plus, who wants to eat fruits that come frozen and rots in a couple of days in your fridge. Not me. No madam or sir. . You might ask what I have bought here. Well, without further a do, here is my list of items and how long they last without getting rotten too fast is detailed below: Pears: amazing for grilling. These do not last more than 2 hours when I bring them to my friends reunion. Remember, this was ore-pandemic. Now, I eat them by myself. I know, I am selfish. All my friends love when I grilled these fruit of the gods. I have many ways of cooking them: on a barbecue or oven. Also, sometimes I think I am Bourdain and I roast this curvaceous fruit on a non-stick pan and add them with dried fruits and nuts. DELICIOUS (free recipe). Can tell you the time it lasts in the fridge because I love them too much (no platonically speaking). Tomatoes: they are big, juicy without dripping and sweet. Delicious for salads, grilling, chicken with mozzarella or by itself. Zuchinni- locally grown. Amazing and delicious. Ideal for grilling or on top of eggplant and roast it on a non-stick pan. Tar tar cherries- delicious and with a lot of flavor. Small but thankfully not chopped by a Washington personator (bad joke I know). Plums: they are full of flavor and sweetness. Not your regular plums, these are the small yellow ones full of exocarp or meat (sorry for the use of this word, IDK its popular term). If you know the term, please respond to my review. Doughnut peach: amazing and flavorful. Once you eat one, you want a second, a third, and the whole basket. Don't blame me for licking delicious peaches, Normans is responsible for it. Canary Melon: it took 4 days to be ripe. It was worth the wait. It is so delicious and sweet. My wife had the leftovers, seeds. Hahaha just kidding. She loved it. When I get back at them, I will make sure to take more pics and posted. Store: Beach Drive and East-West Highway, open space. Staff members: these people knows their science. Good advice and recommendations. Other items for sale: flowers (gone by noon), bread, honey, soaps, etc, etc. Support your local farmers, it is a little pricey but you taste buds will dance of joy with locally grown fruits and veggies, believe me they have told me. Did I mention that after 5pm they have a sale. I do not know whether is every afternoon or just one time. If I did, do not mind me repeating it again. I love that they implement live music (lately it's been a jazz band). I'm still a fan of Rita's, chiboo bakery and now my newest obsession is Vera's smoothies and their empanadas. Local farmers come from around the county for the weekends, and I love picking up fresh produce from them; One of the regulars even makes their own jams! This Wednesday morning, only the florist and a farm goods stand were open. Although no need for produce at the moment, I appreciated their locally made items like assorted goat milk soaps from Madison Fields in Dickerson, plus various jarred items from McCutcheon's in Frederick, like: Fruit Preserves, Spreads, Butters, and Marmalades; Wildflower Honey; Hot Chow Chow, Hot Pepper Relish, and Bread & Butter Pickles; Spiced Peaches; as well as Apple and Spaghetti Sauce. Bought a jar of McCutcheon's Beet Balls, pickled that is, to take back to New York. Look forward to stopping by Farm Women's Market another time, like on a Saturday when I'm told it will be filled with all the vendors, to see what local cheeses and baked items are available!
