The other review is sheer nonsense. These are locally sourced fruits and vegetables and as good as it gets. The staff and owners clearly take great pride in their local roots and only offer up the very best selection of their product. Sure, it's not shopping at the Giant, but if you want to go the the Giant, do it, get your coconuts and bananas! If you are looking for some of the most delicious heirloom tomatoes, crispy apples, scrumptious zucchini, bursting berries, luscious and local jams (try the peach!), and seasonally fresh items - like colossal sized or itsy bitsy pumpkins - definitely check this home spun spot out - and ask if you do not see local items or sizes you want, chances are high they will be able to help you out. Local growers deserve respect man! They offer what comes up out of local soil, when it is in season, and lucky for us, it's out for the purchase - instead of imported grocery items - the taste is so much more vivid! I love these local spots. Going by this week for apples and pumpkins. time to make pie. :) Oh by the way, they have the prettiest flowers I have seen on the East Coast - again, ask the vendors about special occasions and etc.

I still really like Rita's but right across from them is a wonderful charcuterie/beef selection. I usually get their naked bacon and black pepper bacon because my boyfriend loves it. They also sell really good hot dog sausages on the side. Verna's bakery is another up and coming one with their smoothie selection. I'm huge into their green machine. It's busy but everything moves fairly quickly.

My hubby and I caught the tail-end of the market and bought some treats to take home! Veg Heaven - Scrumptious vegan pastries particularly the moist and fluffy blueberry muffin! The banana muffin and apple turnovers are tasty too. While the bbq fried chicken sandwich was fun to try, it was dense and messy. The chocolate eclairs that I got from the Capital Harvest on the Plaza farmers market in DC was divine. The pastries rotate around different farmers markets, will have to check out their Tyson's location! Twin Valley Distilleries - The whiskey and flavored rum tasting was too tempting to pass up a bottle! The sweetness of the fresh juices perfectly masked the rum, cutting the alcohol content to 15% ABV. Refreshing and perfect for a warm summer day with a nice kick! We bought all 3 flavored rums at $25/each - Hibiscus Sorrel, Fruit Punch, and Pineapple. Potomac Sweets - The croissants and decadent pastries looked scrumptious! Although the pastries are stored in a glass display case, they are still baking under the sun and are dry and stale. The brownie was alright. Recommend grabbing a pastry here bright and early when the market opens. Senzu Juice - Refreshing cold-pressed juices. The "Refresh" Watermelon Mint juice is my favorite. Liberty Delight Farms - All sorts of dog goodies from raw bones to chunky pieces of dried beef heart and chicken/beef liver. Treat your dog at the market! Great place to grab some breakfast and some treats to take home!

While the…read moremarket is usually at the elementary school, it sometimes took place at the Bethesda Farm Women's Market near Bethesda Row. There's plenty of parking in the back! There's an impressive variety of 20+ vendors with scrumptious pastries and gluten-free baked goods, fresh squeezed and cold-pressed juices, dog treats, empanadas, alcohol, and fresh made-to-order pizza and crepes. Here are my favorites: El Jefe Wood-fired Pizza - The new wood-fired pizza is delicious and the Margherita pizza tastes like Napoletan pizza, replaced Cipolla Rossa pizza. Grandma Vera's Bakery - You must try the cheesy Brazilian bread, gooey and gluten-free before they sell out! The Oreo scones are truly a delicacy! The fresh squeezed OJ and smoothies are refreshing and great way to cool off during the summer. Fresh Market Bakery - Located at the front of the market, the vendor has a variety of scrumptious breads, quiches, pies, and other baked goods. The fluffy asaigo cheese and seasonal focaccia breads is divine and sell out fast!. The cheesy and blueberry scones are my favorite! The spinach mushroom quiche is bursting with flavor and worth $25. Family of Nuts - Galore of roasted and flavorful, healthy nuts. The Apple and Truffle Parmesan almonds are my favorite while hubby likes the Everything Bagel seasoned Cashews. Jarabe Paleta - The paleta popsicles are refreshing and perfect way to cool during the scorching summer heat. The mango, watermelon, apple cinnamon and peaches and cream are my favorite! The strawberry yogurt paleta and creamy cinnamon horchata are fun to try, the spicy mango delivers with a tangy tamarind flavor and a spicy kick! Little Sesame - The caramelized onion hummus hit the spot! While hummus can be a bit bland, the caramelized onion added a nice sweet touch and paired well with the fluffy pita. The pita was nice to try, but quite dense and hard to conquer all 4 pitas. Yoga in a Bowl - Delicious Peace Kathi paneer breakfast wraps and Rose and Mango Lassi cold drinks. Arepateca - While the arepas were fun to try, there were dense and overstuffed, and quite messy! The hot chocolate with a spicy kick was good! Rita's Crepes - The Veggie Supreme with scrambled egg is bursting with flavor and quite filling! My toddler enjoyed the crispy crepe and it was so much fun to watch the staff make the crepe. Fight Juice - Cold-pressed fresh juice that's healthy and not too sweet. The Strawberry Lemonade is quite refreshing! Simply Delicious Desserts - True to its name, the fresh eggplant parm and butternut squash ravioli lasagna are simply delicious! Rita's Crepes - The Veggie Supreme with scrambled egg is bursting with flavor and quite filling! My toddler enjoyed the crispy crepe and it was so much fun to watch the staff make the crepe. Jinlan Wenhua - Authentic hand-made dumplings with an impressive variety of vegetarian and meat hearty dumplings (sell out early!). They come frozen and are best prepared at home by pan-frying for crispy edges or steaming for soup dumplings. The sweet potato and glass noodle dumplings were bursting with flavor and the Carrots and Zucchini dumplings were also tasty. Yufka Bakery - Crispy phyllo spinach and feta cheese sandwich with spicy mayo. Bun'd Up (Alternate Weeks) - Scrumptious soft handmade bao buns stuffed with tofu, chicken, beef, pork, etc The bite-size buns are airy and light and topped with greens, scallions, crunchy fried onions, and aioli sauce. Rice Culture - Loved trying the waffle cone fish shaped Taiyakis filled with custard and red bean paste. The custard was my pick while my daughter enjoyed the red bean paste. Butterfly Spirits - The 4 pack of Eldenflower Seltzer is boozy and delicious! Twin Valley Distillery - The Apple Cinnamon Whiskey costs $29 is refreshing and pairs well with apple cider and prefer it over the flagship 1812 Blended Whiskey at $42, which isn't that smooth. Clear Skies Meadery - Bought a bottle of the maraschino liquor. Potomac Sweets - With a galore of scrumptious pastries to choose from, the Almond Croissant and Almond Chocolate hit the spot! The baked goods are definitely on the sweeter side. Baked by Jael - The decadent raspberry crumble bar and the fudgy chocolate chip brownie hit the spot! Impasta Gluten-Free - The mini berry tart was delicious! Not a fan of the dense Chocolate Chip or Garlic Sour Dough Scones, they had a weird smell and taste to them. Rise Gluten-Free Bakery - The Buttermilk Biscuit was delicious and stayed moist for 2 days! I wasn't a fan of the chocolate croissant. While the rich decadent chocolate filling was tasty, the doughy shell was underbaked with a sour taste and didn't settle well . Pearl Iced Tea - The passionfruit tea is quite bitter and wish their tea could be sweetened by simple syrup or sugar. Wonderful market and always love coming back and bringing home a bunch of goodies!

They are located at 935 Prose Street, next to Bark Central. There was quite a variety of vendors here for opening day. Not a lot of produce stands, but other things to enjoy such as Greek specialties from Mathias (now located off Twinbrook Pkwy) and Metro Microgreens selling a large variety of organic microgreens at reasonable prices. I bought a clamshell container of sunflower. About 4oz for $10. They come rooted in coco coir mats that are compostable. There is a parking garage the other side of Bark that is pretty vacant in the Market morning hours and of course free for two hours. The market is also very dog friendly and no masks are required anymore.

I ended up going with the one that I saw a line at while I was purchasing from the bakery stand. The tomatoes I purchased from that stand were top notch! Would definitely go there again. I have to say... I was a little disappointed with my breads from that bakery stand I went to in particular. It's name is something like "Farmers Market Bakery" or "Farm Market Breads." Something like that... very literal. The woman there was super helpful and ran down the line of breads (which they have a pretty solid selection of). I ended up getting a loaf of the rosemary and citrus sourdough, pumpernickel, a scone, and a loaf of challah for mom. I didn't LOVE the rosemary citrus or the pumpernickel. I thought the breads were a bit too dense and dry. The scone also wasn't the best scone I've ever had. I'd likely hold off on this stand next time. They do have DMV empanadas there which I love! That was lunch that day. I got a shrimp, spinach and cheese, and spicy pork empanada. All of them were delicious with a special shout out to the spinach and cheese and shrimp ones. On the way out of the market, I noticed this large smoker set up next to a pop up tent that I couldn't believe I missed on the way in. I picked up some brisket and smoked chicken from that stand. The brisket was a little dry, but the chicken was everything I wanted it to be. Deep smoky flavor that did not disappoint. The gentleman running that stand was nice enough to throw in a brioche bun so I could make a brisket sandwich when I got home. I toasted the bun, and accidentally burnt the heck out of it. It was so disappointing. Note: Brioche does not need to be toasted for long at all. SO much butter in the bread. But yeah, overall a cute little farmers market that has a decent selection of produce and local vendors. Miscellaneous Distillery sets up there to sell liquor produced in Mt. Airy. There is also a local seafood vendor, cheese vendor, coffee and more. You must wear a mask while in the market, and maintain social distancing. Some stands have signs pointing out that you should purchase what you touch. Exceedingly difficult with produce... but I tried my best.

The apples and pears are especially fantastic so I recommend trying and buying some since there are samples of most. If you go right around when it opens it's not too crazy but by 9am it's pretty crowded and I don't recommend parking in (or near) the lot itself. I'm addicted to carbs, so the real reason for my trip is always the bakeries that are tucked into the back of the market next to the lake itself. Nordic Knots has a "Pretzel Croissant" that's amazing. It's basically a really flakey, crisp croissant washed with lye and topped with pretzel salt to give it that real "pretzel" flavor. The pretzels themselves are fine, but the croissant is the pro move. They go quick with some aunties lining up 15 minutes before they open (which is always a bit late). My Cravingz is my true destination and it's basically the last stall in the marked (coming from the parking lot). The Turkish bakery has a cafe in Manassas but there are a few things you can only get here. The guy is always super friendly and is happy to explain the good to anyone unsure. My go-to breakfast is a cheese açma and coffee with a simit and nutella pogaça to go. The açma is one of the best pastries I've ever had. Flakey and buttery like a croissant but with a bit more chew and stuffed to the gills with high-quality feta. They'll warm it up for you on the spot, which I highly recommend if you're eating it there. If you're looking for a heavier breakfast of lunch the borek is great but a bit much for me that early.

I flew to DC for an end of life celebration, looking for something to take to share because grandma said you don't show up with just your hat in your hand. I was blown away at the number of produce vendors. We have a large market at the Pearl in San Antonio and lucky to see two or three produce vendors with limited selection. Parking is the most challenging aspect here. I didn't even try the surface lot as it looked packed. I was able to find street parking a few blocks away. This market must have had at least a dozen produce vendors. And the selection was incredible. The vegetables and tomatoes looked incredible. But I was flying back and could not enjoy them. I did buy some cherries and strawberries to share with the local family. They were so fresh and everyone enjoyed them.
