On a road trip through Texas, we stopped in Mt. Pleasant for lunch. This place looked promising,…read moreand we always find these old Texas downtowns with the city hall squares so charming. There were a few well-rated spots in town, but we landed here. We ordered the stuffed avocado -- a full order with one stuffed with chicken and one with beef. My main gripe? Ditch the ranch and go with actual sour cream. Ranch is fine and all, but sour cream would have been the better move. I'm a sucker for a beef sandwich with a dipping sauce, so I couldn't resist. But, fair warning -- the meat was still kinda dry and chewy even with the dipping sauce. A little disappointing. Now, where this place really redeemed itself wasn't the namesake cheesecake -- but the cookies! We grabbed two to go, and wow -- the dark chocolate one with sea salt was the true highlight. We also got a slice of cheesecake to go (because, you know, it's in the name), and it was good -- but honestly, I'd skip the cheesecake and go straight for the cookies next time.
