Hard crunchy Nutella macroon on left and mint chocolate macaroons on the right taste and texture was good.

As first timers to this public market I was really looking forward to choosing a delicious treat to try and unfortunately Zaya did not deliver. The service was definitely lacking. Maybe they were understaffed? Not too sure. We almost left because no one i saw acknowledged us. I really wanted to give the macaroons a try so we waited about 6 minutes and we we're finally able to order. I was so disappointed when I bit into my Nutella macaroon...crunchy and hard. My little one tried the mint chocolate and it was good! We probably will try somewhere else next time.

QUALITY!!! That is the best word to describe this Cafe. This is no run of the mill "eh, it's ok, that will do" kinda cafe. This place exceeds all expectations. The Ukrainian staff that run this cafe are giving so much to the community with this cafe - from their complex pastries, to crepes to beautifully executed avocado toasts... you'd think all of these items would be in a high end restaurant. Staff is always so kind, patient and you can see they put in so much effort into everything on the menu. They're very thoughtful too... for instance, when you order a avocado toast, they are so generous with the amount of fresh toppings, they know you will need another slice of bread with the amount that will fall off eating your first toast.... So they give you two pieces. I also regularly purchase their coffee beans which are micro roasted in Tacoma. I'm pretty sensitive to coffees but this one works for me well. Love the smell and taste! I really couldn't give this place less that 5 stars... so happy to have such a place to go to regularly on Ruston!

    Delicious looking pastries.

Nice little cafe serving up Ukranian food. Everything is made by the owner, she's very nice. The Chicken Piroshky was great. I like the bread, not greasy. The Mushroom Piroshky left me wanting more mushrooms. It was mostly bread. I'm interested in trying the whole menu!

I am only reviewing in regards to their pierogies, nothing else. I haven't tried any of their other stuff and just found myself in the area needing a snack when their pierogies called my name. They were warm, beautifully fresh tasting, and came with some tangy, thick sour cream. The only thing that wasn't my favourite was the bed of spinach it came on. This felt unnecessary and didn't add anything to the dish. Otherwise I would highly recommend ordering some. Lots of seating nearby and easy parking.

I was down at Point Ruston earlier today and noticed this newer cafe in the indoor market. I live just up the hill, so ran back down this evening to get a cup of borscht! Delicious! I'm so excited this is nearby. I LOVE borscht and can't wait to try their other foods. The lady that worked there was very friendly, also.

These ladies make some delicious chicken dumplings. Located in the Waterfront Market @ Ruston. We will be back soon for more.

Tried the chicken crepe, potato piroshki and chicken piroshki. The crepe was ok but not going to get it ever again. I asked before ordering what's in it and she didn't mention they cover it in balsamic vinegar and large crushed salt. Would have been nice to know so I would have picked something else. The potato piroshki has no flavor literally just potato. Chicken piroshki wasn't heated evenly so it's cold in middle.

Their food menu is a little limited, however, I was excited to find a place that had pirogies. I really enjoyed the pirogies they were nice and chewy with a good garlic flavor. My friend got the avocado toast which felt like a good amount of food for the price and enjoyed it as well. I also tried the coffee cake and coffee which I enjoyed personally, but honestly feel like to me both are kind of hard to do wrong. However, I will say the coffee cake slice was pretty large and easily could be split which I always enjoy when the amount you get is justifiable for the price. My friend also tried the snickerdoodle cookie which was similar experience to the coffee cake. Seating is slightly minimal as it is in the market so it's a slightly better option to take something to go. When we went it was earlier so the whole market wasn't open yet and we didn't have a problem sitting down at a little table. That being said the wait was a little long and it was just us 2 when we got there.

So I really loved the atmosphere here it's a Ukrainian Cafe which I want to support!! The desserts looked ins ally decadent, everything is very clean and perfect. We ordered a cheese piroshki which sounded amazing since I love piroshkis! The women let us know it would be about a 5 minute wait for both . So we ordered a delicious vanilla caramel latte and waited at the tables . She said they were ready and my husband raced over since he hasn't had a piroshki since he was home and he was heartbroken. This pastry was frozen on the inside his face is pictured since I wanted to capture a good moment not a horrible one . We asked her if it's supposed to be cold she said she was sorry and took it to the back she asked us to Please wait and of course we did since a little heat up would make this pastry taste great, we got them back and once again still cold and gross on the inside . We wanted a snack since we were shopping with my Mom, husband and new born but this was not the spot . We just threw them away . Maybe it was a minor fluke since everything here looked amazing, but from the Fb post about these AMAZING piroshkis this was not it .

This place has very good food and they get it out pretty quick, It's also very cool to support a Ukrainian business so I highly recommend this place.

We checked out Zaya Cafe today and can't wait to go back. We ordered a cannoli, a berry pastry, and a couple of caramel pastries. They were all so good. I loved the flavors of fall. We can't wait to go back to try the pierogis and piroshkis.

This was supposed to be a chicken crepe. $16 for this mess ! Live and learn.

The cabbage rolls are delicious, the meatballs are fantastic, and their fresh-baked breads and pastries are some of my favorites in the area. That being said... I made the mistake of coming here on a Saturday afternoon. First, the parking lot. Wow. It took me probably 10-15 minutes just to find a parking spot. There simply isn't enough parking for the number of people that come here on weekends, so everyone is circling the lot waiting for someone to leave. Then, once you finally find a space, people don't leave enough room to get in or out because traffic is coming from every direction. If driving stresses you out, I'd honestly recommend visiting during the week instead. Monday through Friday around lunchtime has always been a much easier experience for me. Inside was just as busy. The deli counter had a huge line, and the store was packed with people. It was difficult to move around because shoppers were constantly walking in front of each other without much awareness of those around them. None of that is really the store's fault--it just speaks to how popular they are--but it definitely made for a stressful visit. The reason I stopped in this time was to finally try some of the desserts, and I'm so glad I did. The honey cake was absolutely incredible and easily my favorite. I'll definitely be buying that again. I also tried the Spartak cake, which was good, but the honey cake stole the show for me. I couldn't decide on one of the mousse cakes because they all looked amazing, so I asked the employee behind the counter to pick her favorite. She recommended the mango mousse cake, and she was right--it was delicious. The white chocolate shell gives way to a light, tangy mango mousse with actual pieces of mango inside. It was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. The only downside is the price. The mousse cakes are roughly palm-sized and around $10 each. While they were very good, I finished mine in one sitting, whereas the honey cake and Spartak lasted me much longer and cost less. Overall, I absolutely recommend this market. The food, bakery, and hot deli are excellent, and I'll definitely keep coming back. My only advice is simple: avoid Saturday afternoons if you can. You'll probably enjoy the experience a whole lot more.

I was well contented with the spinach piroshky -- a beautiful gift-box-style presentation with freshly made, satisfying bite. I would bring any visitor to Seattle here for the famous Piroshky experience. I can't wait to return for some traditional honey cake and poppy seed rolls next. You can tell they are authentically prepared, and reminiscent of a hole-in-the-wall, family-run Deli in an older city like New York--except in "new" Seattle it is ensconced in the insufferable sterility of the rectilinear glass and steel modern abominations that pass for "architecture". Conveniently located to the Swedish hospital complex next door. Bus stop from downtown a block away.
