Augustiner Bräustuben was unfortunately one of the biggest disappointments of our Munich trip. I…read morereally wanted to love this place given its reputation, but the experience fell far short.
We ordered the pork knuckle, pretzel with beer cheese, and beer. The pork knuckle arrived cold and lacked flavor, while the pretzel didn't seem particularly fresh either. The beer pour was especially disappointing--the amount of foam/head was ridiculous, and for a place associated with such a famous brewery, I expected a much better pour. The photos really speak for themselves.
Service was the biggest issue. We repeatedly tried to get someone's attention to place our order, but the servers seemed to avoid eye contact and kept waiting for someone else to help us. Even getting the check was a struggle--we eventually had to get up and go to a counter ourselves. It felt like the staff had little interest in actually serving the customers.
The atmosphere itself has the traditional Bavarian beer hall feel, but unfortunately, the poor food, disappointing beer pour, and especially the terrible service completely overshadowed it.
I really wanted to like this place, but based on our experience, there are much better beer halls and beer gardens in Munich.
