The service here could not be more terrible. Lining up for the change room, an employee asked me how many items. I let her know I had 5 and she hands me over the tag and walks away without saying anything. So I'm standing there wondering if I could just walk in to look for my own change room or do I just stand there.. So as I'm standing there wondering the employee folding the clothes asked me how many and I told her 5 while holding my tag and she's like oh you can just go in. I tried on the clothes and decided to get a couple of things. Decent price. Lining up in the woman's section. The employee at the cashier goes "men's section is empty if anyone wants to head over there" so I go there and it was not empty. There was 4 people in line which was the EXACT same number of people in the woman's section. But there were 3 cashiers in the woman's section while there was only 1 cashier in the men's. I didn't care if the wait was longer than it should be on a Sunday afternoon but more irritated from the lies the employee told. Cause I was sure had I waited in the woman's section I would've been done a lot quicker! Also the store is always messy. Lines at Zara is always SLOW. The staff at the cashier (kids section) was so impolite - never gave me an eye contact, didn't hand me the bag after I paid and just left it on the counter. We came her this morning, for a return. We were second in line and there was one till open. We stood there for 15 minutes while the line behind us got to 10 people deep. All the while staff were walking around, pretending to be busy. Totally disorganised, the manager needs to be sacked. This was a snowy weekday so it wasn't even that busy. I used to work at this location. I've never worked with such bratty, snotty, pretentious management in my entire life. Easily one of the worst jobs I've ever had. Every single shift I was yelled at, including my very first day. All of the managers think that since they're managers, they can say and do whatever they want, even if that means promoting negative motivation. In reality, Zara is only a step above H&M, I suggest everyone who shops here go there, they basically sell the same things, just at a lower cost with most likely the same material. I even had a customer come up to me and ask me a question, though I tried to direct her to someone more experienced than me, she didn't want to go to anyone that was working at the time because they were all so rude to her as per prior experience. read more

This Zara Store in Markville Mall in Markham is no even entitled to a star. I am meticulous about keeping all my sale bills in order according to stores. However on November 7, 2016, I arrived to do a return only to find out that I did not have the sale bills. I did not know Zara's return policy since I hardly return items and if I do, I have the bill. I got to the cash and was advised no return or exchange what so ever. I said ok then can I buy an item today for a higher value. I purchased the item a few days ago, the tags are attached, the condition is the same as it left the store, it's just the size issue. The South Asian man in black entire who I believe was the supervisor said no he cannot do anything for me without a sale bill. I stated surely you can look it up since you have to keep record of all transactions and he stated no. The store has no access to any transaction. This infuriated me because I have worked in the financial industry for 25 years on the retail part of the business and I know for a fact that ZARA CAN ACCESS CUSTOMERS TRANSACTION IF THEY WANTED TO PROVIDE A DUPLICATE COPY OF A SALE BILL BIT THEY CHOSE NOT TO. The gentleman said you can speak to the manager and customer service but I can guarantee you that they will reiterate the same message. To this I responded so what is the point to speak to them and why do you have A MANAGERS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE IF THEY CAN'T HELP THE CUSTOMERS. HE GOT FRUSTRATED AND STARTED GIVING ME A ANGRY LOOK AND TOLD ME TO WAIT. By this time, I HAD DECIDED TO LEAVE AND DONATE THE ITEMS TO SALVATION ARMY. I can give you time date, register in men's wear but you still state you have no access and you are being DECEIVING THE CUSTOMER AND THAT IS WHAT MAKING ME MORE UPSET THEN THE EXCHANGE/RETURN. To This she stated I KNOW THAT I MAY LOOK YOUNG BUT I HAVE OVER 15 YEARS RETAIL EXPERIENCE. I stated I am not concerned about your age and I certainly was not implying how young or old you look, I am trying to get my issue across. She took the matter personally, and stated yes you did. I said then by the same token I can you are stating I am old. SHE SAID PLEASE LEAVE THE STORE. NOW I WAS NOT YELLING BEING ABUSIVE OR PHYSICALLY THREATING. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I WAS ASKED TO LEAVE THE STORE IN MY LIFE. I AM NOT ASHAMED SINCE I DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG. I THINK SHE WAS NOT CAPABLE OF HANDLING THE SITUATION. IN ADDITION I DID MENTION THAT SHE NEEDED SOME ADDITIONAL CUSTOMERS SERVICE EXPERIENCE AND NOT TO TAKE THE ISSUE PERSONALLY SINCE IT WAS ZARA'S POLICY. I am here as Zara location at Fairview Mall. I tried to exchange a Christmas gift I have bought for my son.. it's January 11th. We waited until the boxing week and holiday madness to end before we came here for a size exchange. They do not have the size and they do not accept returns since 30 days has passed. It's been 36 days. Considering the holidays 6 days passed the policy should have been acceptable. The fine print is not legible on the back of receipt. For a Christmas gift the customer service should've been more flexible. The item hasn't been used. It was only been seen on Christmas Day. Their exchange window of 30 days is too short. I wish I could give this location zero stars. Every time I come here I have to wait in line for more than 15-20 minutes. If it's busier than usual then there should be more than 2 people on cash!!! It's rare to find an employee who is polite and willing to help. Every time I ask someone a question they seem annoyed. Zara - Markville Mall Shopping Centre Purchased a few items last week from Zara. When ready to leave, noticed that he had not put the shoes I wanted on the bag. Asked for it, and he says "oh, I forgot about them". Meanwhile, he is arguing with another cashier about their schedule - so unprofessional! He grabs the shoes, puts it through and I pay for it. I leave the store without checking the size of the shoes - I had originally given him 2 pairs one with a tag and the other without the tag. Both different sizes as the one I wanted didn't have the tag and to help them out, took another pair! Last week Friday, I try the shoes on and noticed that he ended up bagging the wrong size shoes but at this point I have no receipts! I am aware of their no return no exchange policy without receipt! Still, I went on Sunday to their store and spoke to the manager of the situation and what could have led their cashier to make such a mistake. Even showed him my bank statement showing the two transactions! The whole time I spoke, he basically kept of repeating their policy! So frustrating - at the end he gives me their customer service number. I called their CS today and same conversation with same answer repeatedly! Can't they see that the error was from them and not mine! I as a consumer, am being penalized for their own mistake! Surely they could have solved this but their unwillingness to think outside the box and retain a good customer is not something that they have been trained to do! I don't usually use social media as a way to make a review, or complaint however yesterday I had the worst customer service experience so far, and I was absolutely APPALLED. I was given a GIFT from a friend who lives in Quebec which she had purchased online at Zara. ZARA Care. ZARA Unfortunately one of the items werent a great fit, and not so flattering so I wanted to do an exchange. Thinking this was a normal thing to do, I went to the Zara location at The Eaton Centre in Downtown, Toronto - ONT, Canada, where I was told that without a receipt I would not be able to do the exchange. I explained that my friend got this item online; and the cashier then told me to get the E-receipt and then I would be able to MAKE THE EXCHANGE FOR ANY ITEM. As this is a pretty standard policy, I had no issues with this. I was then told, If I had any issues I could call the customer service line. I decided to call right then and there to ask them to send me a copy of the receipt, however, the line didn't work. It went to an auto recording which asked to go online for further help. When I went online, it provided the same contact number - this circle was never ending. General Question: HOW DOES SOMEONE REACH OUT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE ZARA? After getting fed up I finally got a hold of my friend who was able to e-mail me the receipt (I'd like to point out here, since this item was a GIFT many people don't like giving the actual receipt out) but now I was out of this mall. I drove to Markham Ont and went to Markville Mall - which is the closest mall to my house. When I found the same items I wanted to do the exchange for, and was all prepared to do the exchange with my E-receipt the new cashier at the new location advised me that any online purchases can not be exchanged, and only exchanged for a different size of the same item. At this point, I was beyond frustrated. I didn't understand this concept because WHAT is the point of giving a receipt, OR buying gifts if there's no chance of exchanging it? As a multi- billion dollar company, this was the most ridiculous policy I heard. I asked to speak directly to the manager because this policy made no sense to me. The initial cashier had told me "the manager will tell you the same thing, but I'll get him" as she rolled her eyes. I asked why this was an issue, she had advised me that it "messes with their inventory". Which wouldn't make any sense, because how would I return the item for another size and THAT not mess up the inventory? The lady told me that I was being rude and if I continued my attitude I could leave the store. I wasn't raising my voice, or being rude in any manner - I was simply requesting clarification on WHY an exchange WITH A RECEIPT wasn't doable. In addition to WHY me ASKING FOR A MANAGER, was a problem. The Manager then came to help me but gave me the same explanation. I asked if we can get store credit back to buy the new items, he said he can't issue a store credit. I asked how does one get a gift from an online purchase and exchange it - I guess Zara doesn't take into consideration exchanges to gifts. The only thing he had offered is that I can get my money back. Which isn't even my money since it was a gift. So basically, his option was a return - but NOT an exchange, which in my retail experience, exchanges are WAY more feasible to do. He also told me to calm down, and not use the language I had used, which may I add, wasn't offensive or rude in any way. As I was speaking to the manager, the initial cashier who was standing beside him was talking to a second cashier about how rude I was, and inserting her own snarky remarks. I told her I could hear her, and she told me she didn't care, AGAIN rolling her eyes, and giving me attitude. HER MANAGER, who happened to be standing right beside her, did nothing and continued to tell me to calm down. I guess leading by example is perfect in this scenario in a negative aspect, since both manager and cashier were both rude, not sympathetic and neither cared to actually help my situation out with going the extra mile. I asked more questions about the policy - where he had told me that I do not understand. I understood clearly and repeated back to him everything that he explained to me earlier, but he failed to answer further questions. I finally asked for my money back to my FRIENDS credit card, and I paid for the new items MYSELF. (Thanks Zara, for making a KIND, GENEROUS, GIFT GIVING EXPERIENCE turn into a HASSLE where the GIFT GIVER ended up getting her money back anyway). Also my friend will not get her money back for another 10-14 business days, which I find rather unusual since I normally see the money back into my account the moment the return is completed. THE BEST part- is when I asked for the Managers and the Employees Employee ID. He refused to give it to me so that I could not make a complaint on both him or his employee. The stupidest thing in the history of shopping just occurred to me at the Zara store in Newmarket. My wife wanted a size small top, but they only had medium sizes on the rack. But no worries, the mannequin had a size small on it. Simple opportunity to just switch the medium on the rack with the small on the mannequin, right? Nope! According to store policy (thanks polite manager for explaining with a smile), the mannequin wardrobe may not be switched out. Company policy. So if that is company policy, it's a dumb policy. And if that was just the manager making up a lazy excuse, sad. Right now there is a lovely mannequin wearing the shirt at the store and my wife is shopping elsewhere and Zara is out a sale. Makes sense? Oh, but don't worry. The manager told us we could be put on a waiting list for when they change out the mannequin showpieces. Thank goodness! We're dying to come back and pick up the shirt when the mannequin has had its fill of it. I agree with Danica. No customer service in this store - even with a long line on a Saturday, there was one active cashier with a guy who clearly did not want to jump on cash. Only did it reluctantly and didn't even finish the transaction. Employees also need to make sure their chatting/socializing isn't slowing down service. ZARA has the worst customer service and lacks common sense. My daughter received leggings as a Christmas gift from her grandmother. The sales person at Zara Markville Mall did not remove the security tag when it was originally purchased. I went to Zara with the gift receipt to get the security tag removed and the store would not remove the tag without the original receipt. They wanted me to leave the store with the security tag on and then come back with the original receipt....WHAT?!? The explanation from the store manager... if he removes the tag without the original receipt head office might think an employee stole it... WHAT?!? First of all ZARA made the mistake by not removing the security tag, secondly, ZARA MADE THE MISTAKE OF NOT REMOVING THE SECURITY TAG, thirdly, if ZARA made mistake number 1 and 2 why do I have to go to the gift giver ask for the original receipt and then go back to ZARA to get the security tag removed?
