I had the worst experience I have ever had at The ZAR located at 1635 E. Broadway St, Ste A-105, Pearland, TX. 77581. The employee was the same both times. Her name is Taylor and she has a piercing in her lip, and dark hair. So, I study psychology to be a therapist and I understand that we all have bad days, so I conducted an experiment after my first " BEYOND HORRIBLE AND INHUMAN" experience on sept. 27, 2024 at 11:35 am. Some things to note before I start and that I take into consideration is the worlds perception of me. That day , I walked into the establishment in a curly afro and a smile , with my white husband and Everything went downhill from there. Yes , we are an interracial couple, and while race does not matter to me, I realize that people still have ignorant cultural biases that they carry everywhere, and in every situation. I hate to pull the race card, But I can't see any other reason why this woman would blatantly treat me like trash, and over-talk me. So, I walk in and hello, make introductions, and I immediately let the young lady know that I am a full-time college student in a rush and that I had to go . Every word I said went in one ear, and out the other. She ignored me and went into a 15 min spill, which I understand , it's her job, but I am 45 and not new to the experience, as I tried to explain to her I work in tandem with my doctor and therapist. This woman tried to talk to me like I smoke crack. Seriously, she was treating me like I am from the streets, meanwhile, My husband and I own a house right down the street. He is an engineer, and I am a retired E.S.L teacher, back in college to become a therapist, so that I can open up a free mental healthcare clinic in the neighborhood, but because I am African American , she tried to talk to me like my name was Pookie. So , at that point, my husband say my frustration and handled the rest of the interaction, where she kept on talking about how she was so knowledgeable about the topic, but remember, the first thing I said after " Hello" was that I was in a rush and had to go, all of which she ignored. It was like my time didn't matter, nor my words, she" KEPT CUTTING ME OFF MID SENTENCE". Then as I was placing my order I got thirsty and ordered a 7 dollar CBD drink, which she acted like she " forgot " to give me, and my spouse made her go back and get it. I was so pissed when I left, but just in case she was having a bad day, I was going to let her make it , and give here a second chance to do better, Nope THE SECOND TIME WAS WORSE. On Oct. 4, 2024 at 1:12 pm , my husband and I arrived there again and this time I got to see how nice Taylor normally treats people, just not us. So , as we walk in we saw Taylor and new trainee and a white gentleman standing at the counter. Taylor she us walking in, and hurries says " HI, I'M WITH A CUSTOMER , CAN YOU GUYS JUST WAIT AND GIVE US A SECOND" , which meant we couldn't even walk around by the counter and browse the selection, which made no sense, but ok. So we sat down and waited. we watched as taylor happily served this gentleman , smiling and happy. Then , when he leaves , we approach the counter, and her whole demeaner changed. It was like night and day. I wanted to try one of every product, but after seeing this woman become nervous and weird talking to me i just placed an order of 144 dollars, bare minimum, because of her attitude. But the real kicker is that a guy walked in the store while we were at the counter, and he was not told that he had to wait while we were be served, like our privacy didn't matter and we were not important. I asked Taylor why did her whole demeanor attitude change when dealing with me , she cut me off and starting talking to my spouse. I was so embarrassed I just walked out of the store. My husband came outside and say how upset I was, and went back into the store to get the corporate phone number. Taylor then apologized for her behavior and told my husband that she was nicer to the white guy because he was a long time customer. My said that's bullshit and I need to tell my story so it never happens again. She basically admitted to treating me different, and tried to give an excuse why, I am not buying it.
