Adding my 5-star as an answer to spice girl Weiqi's succinct review with some better pics and a vid with her explaining one of the dishes I had no idea about.
Chinese BBQ and Beer was new to me, and according to her is a current trend all across China. Who knew? Not me that's for sure. What impresses me the most is the cheap beer. Psssst, don't tell them what Canadians charge for a pitcher! I did a little digging and found some info that there's an old Chinese dude in Scarbs making this home brew type suds that's sold all over for not much more money than water. To me this is a fantastic idea, using your noodle so to speak. I'll drink to that!
So we ordered some of the cheap suds, complete with infusions and whatnot, and keep in mind it's often only available in pitchers, not pints in these type of places, which isn't a problem pour moi.
The. BBQ was fantastic at this spot with many types of meat, with lamb being the premium one, and all of them getting heavily seasoned with what to me tastes like cumin, and very good!
These are called chat bars, with the name from what you are supposed to do while there and we did just that.
Check out my vid (in segments due to Yelp max 30 seconds vids) where she explains one dish. I had this luxury for any Chinese meal we went to together and I soaked up every minute of it with glee! read more
