I really enjoy Zamzows and not sure in 10 years I can find a bad experience in my memory (although I do miss hunting down the resident kitties to say hi). I do their yard care program and I appreciate the ease of it and they even loan out spreaders for people for 24 hours if you need, which is an additional benefit. I really like the main focus of their products not being chemicals. While you can find chemical/less sustainable options for your outdoor needs, I like that they really have come up with non-harmful ways to work with weeds, pests, and all things yard related. When I have easy or hard questions, they are always excited to help me. They are extremely knowledgeable on an array of topics and I look to them as the experts. I always say, Zamzows will know, when people ask me plant and yard questions. My favorite part of Zamzows is the range of shopping to be had. Pots, plants, pets, yard, birds. It really is a one-stop shop for several of your yard/pet/house needs! I love me a mercantile vibe and this definitely has a treasure to be found for everyone! read more

I love this local plant, garden, and pet supply store! The staff are so knowledgeable and approachable when it comes to any plant questions I've asked! I love that their selection seems seasonal with new plants coming in frequently. The plants are all very reasonably priced so I highly recommend this spot - especially if you check in periodically just to see what they have in store! This location is on a pretty busy street, right off of Fairview. If you're coming from the opposite site of the road than the shop, I recommend turning onto Liberty st. -- there's more parking on the side too! This is also a great spot to shop for all your pets needs. I've gotten crickets here to feed to a lizard, although crickets aren't always guaranteed to be in store- they do usually have them! And of course they've got dog food, cat food, and everything your furry family members need. Love this company - staff are knowledgeable and helpful, prices are reasonable, and there are at least 4 outlets in Boise which give lots of opportunity to swing by when close by. Our first experience with them was in Federal Way when we purchased more drain rock than our vehicle could carry in one load. They trusted us to return and pick up the balance with just a quick check-in. More recently I appreciated their help in selecting a grass seed and providing suggestions on how to best spread it this fall. Great company read more

I will always be a customer at zamzows. We have a bearded dragon and a bunny and they always have food and supplies ready for us. I have only had one time where they didnt have crickets but their shipment was coming in that day. Their crickets are always lasting longer than petco or petsmart and have high quality knowledge and products for our animals. I had a really bad experience with the Zamzow's on State Street. I came up to this location and spoke with the manager, his name is Kevin. The situation was around an supposedly expired propane tank at the State St. store earlier. Problem was that I received this propane tank from the State St. Zamzow's a couple months ago. The manager from state street basically said that they did not provide that propane tank to me and basically called me a liar. When I took this same propane tank to the Fairview store Kevin found the stamp which clearly indicated that the tank is not expired. He was very sorry about the other managers interaction and gave me the propane for free. It's pretty good customer service and Zamzow's saved themselves from losing a customer. I'm a senior citizen and went to the Zamzows on Fairview (Saturday 9/10/22 @ 11am to get thrive for my bushes I knew I needed 5 gallons but realized the 5 gallon container was gonna be too heavy for me to manage when I asked if I could buy 2 ea 2.5 gal containers for the price of the 5 gallon container the manager Onoc could've cared less. I've been a Zamzow lawn care customer for years I was very disappointed in the manager. I probably won't renew my lawn care program simply because there was no interest in accommodating my request, the younger employees were very nice and appeared surprised by the managers lack of any interest I my request. read more

Took my 10 year old mini smooth dachshund Shelby Wu for a long overdue nail trim and a bath (she'll let me bathe her but I've yet to find a good shampoo).. this time it was Heidi's daughter Jodi working with her.. and Jodi is a chip of the block! She was gentle, patient and loving toward my little girl dog and attentive to my questions and concerns. If your pet needs grooming, give Heidi and Jodi a call and book an appointment. Have tried to post a message on the webpage ALWAYS get Error sending message. Poorly trained employees... Here is what I TRIED to send to them.... People at Zamzowa need to be better trained. Last year I told them the Diameter of my tree 8' and they told me 1/2 gal applied to the tree in Sep last year. It is now May and my tree is infested again I applied the other 1/2 gal and am waiting but after reading the app on the website it looks like I have to apply 2 gal to get results... Being from NJ, I never heard of Zamzow's. Wow, what a great place! Went in for parrot food and $180. later came out with 50#'s of grain free, good quality dog food, a free rolling plastic dog food container, grain free biscuits, a dog toy with extra squeakers, and a cooling mister for myself. Staff friendly & helpful, great selection of dog & cat items including health items for hot spots, teeth cleaning, etc. Did not venture into the garden center. I had filled my cart already. My husband had heard that Zamzows had a bird seed block and he wanted to see about getting one We feed a ton of birds in our yard and he thought it would be handy to put out a block we stopped by Zamzows and were shown some blocks the young man helping us asked what kind of birds we had my husband told him and he said that this one block was what we needed and the birds would go crazy over it that they would tear into it and of course it was the most expensive one they had and of course we bought it believing what we were told it has set in our yard for days and not one bird has touched it I called the store this morning and was told we had picky birds they were use to what we had been feeding them and so there fore oh well I can not believe that all of the birds who come here are picky lmao that is so freaking much nonsense its just crazy that of all the birds including the crows wont have a thing to do with this block to say I am a little upset is putting it mildly I can just see birds landing to eat and going oh oh that's not what we are use to so we will starve and not eat cuz those people didn't put out what we want that's just insane to say the least You can bank on the fact this wont happen again to us anyway read more

After years of having a Trugreen and Chemlawn lawn service, I took a chance and bought the lawn program. At $99 for my 2,000 sq. ft. lawn it was less expensive, but I had to do it myself. It took less than 20 min. to do and they even let me use one of their spreaders for free! I have been using their program for two years and my lawn has NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD! Zamzows even stores the fertilizer for you so it doesn't take up space in the garage. I highly recommend using their fertilizer if you are not happy with your lawn service company. read more

This place is pretty much the Honda of garden and pet stores -- the prices aren't insane and they know what they are talking about and always live up to and surpass expectations. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful about gardening and lawn needs for Boise's climate, they are also knowledgeable about pet products. When I mentioned my dog was having diarrhea the sales person suggested purchasing a food with less protein -- and guess what? it worked! When I mentioned a certain flower wasn't flowering, the salesperson told me what to do to fix the situation. I highly suggest heading to Zamzow's for all of your gardening and pet needs! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE TO GET GROOMED!!!!! I have a West Highland Terrier that I usually take the Zamzows on Overland Road but since they were booked out I called here and what a BIG mistake!!!! The groomer was awful! I dropped my dog off and proceeded to shop and heard him yelping. I went back into her area and asked if he was ok. When I asked if she needed help she said "NO YOU WILL JUST MAKE THINGS WORSE". I should have went with my gut feeling and taken him out of there but I thought well maybe he's just nervous. When I went back to get him, the groomer was trimming another dog really rough. She looked like she had just had it! Her hair was messy and covering half of her face and she did not act professional at all. I asked how he did and she said "HORRIBLE I almost called you 2 times"! After seeing him I told her that I wish she would have. He was shaved so close to the skin around his eyes, nose and under carriage. He looked HORRIBLE. I talked to the store manager and he even said that he heard a dog yelping after I dropped him off. He was very polite and did not charge us for the grooming. I will NOT go back to this location again. It's sad that Zamzows has an employee like this working for them. I have had nothing but great thinks to say about this place. I hope they take this complaint into consideration and do something about her. read more

DONT HAVE THEM DELIVER ANYTHING!!!!!! I order top soil and scheduled home delivery a week in advance. Today the day of delivery I even called at noon to make sure I was on delivery schedule. I was. So I took off the afternoon to wait for my dirt. at 4:00pm I called to see where my dirt was. I was told someone dropped the ball it wouldn't be delivered. i was told I could get it delivered on Monday. Why would I trust them on monday when they didn't follow through today with a 7 day ADVANCE RESERVATION. I wasn't offered anything for their failure. read more

I appreciated the friendly staff and cleanliness of the store, however I also appreciate someone more who admits they don't know something and is willing to find the answer rather than just telling me something they don't know. I went in looking for granular broad leaf killer and was sold two bags of something that did absolutely nothing... if anything it seemed to help the weeds grow larger and faster. We moved into a new house in February with a back yard that was nothing but mud. We rototilled and conditioned the soil after bringing in a sample to the Nampa location, then seeded the whole yard. A few weeks later we had a little grass but mostly clovers and other broad leaf weeds. Since the grass was fragile I waited until I was able to mow the yard three times before applying any weed control. Unfortunately by that time it was overtaken by weeds. I feel like I've wasted hundreds of dollars all because of the staff that gave me unreliable directions and now I must start from scratch. read more
