OK, I heard a rumor - I can't confirm because I didn't ask - that Dunlap supplies both Zamzow's and D&B with their chicks. I happened to be out in Caldwell yesterday and so I decided to stop by and see if I could cut out the middle man. I AM SO GLAD I STOPPED BY!! They had a huge variety of chicks and ducklings available. The store was clean, the employee (wish I could remember her name) was extremely knowledgable and friendly and the prices were spot-on. I liked them so much, I ordered a second batch of chicks to be picked up in a couple months. read more

I have purchased chicks twice from Dunlap this year. All chicks have been healthy and are thriving. Their prices are reasonable, and you can buy just one or two when you buy at the shop. I am also impressed with the quality of their chick feed blends. read more

Saw a post on craigslist with a sale on chicks. Called them up and was told they would not be in for two days. I ordered 30 since it would take a minimum order of 25 to get the sale price. Upon check out I was told that only turkeys were on sale even though their add said the type of ducks I ordered were part of the sale. When I questioned the clerk I was just told sorry. I would have given Dunlap Hatchery 5 stars a few months ago, however...there is a person working in the store at this time that is extremely UNfriendly and UNhlepful. I have bought hay there twice in the last few days and requested that that the hay be loaded in a certain manner to make it easier for me me to unload by myself and was totally ignored. She proceeded to load the hay how she wanted to, making it more difficult to unload when I got home. The people working there last summer were very friendly and helpful but this person seems to have a bad attitude. I am no longer happy with the customer service at Dunlap's and may not return. I have purchased flocks of chicks (no problems there), and spent thousands on hay and chicken feed there, but I think I will find other sources for my hay and chicken feed. read more

I (Jule Eberle) have been getting all my birds from Dunlap's. Greg and his family are people who care about their customers and are spot on about any bird issues. Any other place can advertise that they "know" all about chickens, they usually dont. The ideas about when you buy a product from a person/company you would expect customer support, knowledge of issues and how to work with the situation, because it is a investment and you want to spend your money "wisely". This is exactly what Dunlap does, and i will never go anywhere else because, making my purchases here saves me time and money, the birds are not stressed out by little hands, and are in excellent health. I have no idea about any health issues because I have had none, and people may have had trouble getting through on the phone, please give them room for this as they are very, very busy at the least with customers and local businesses that they sell to. It took me a bit of persistence to get through, but I squeaked in finally. I would prefer them to be very busy rather than to be standing around. This family has been very good to me. I have ordered 2 batches of chicks from Dunlap Hatchery now and every time they arrive all alive and healthy! I always get them the day after they were shipped out and I have had great success raising chicks from them. I recommend them highly! read more

My husband as a kid would go to Dunlap to get their chicks, now we go for our laying hens and meat hens. All of the employees are always extremely helpful and polite. It's very nice that they keep a clean facility and have everything you need for your birds. We wouldn't go anywhere else for our needs. read more

I feel the need to rant about our local hatchery, Dunlap, I spent $75 for 30 duck eggs, I picked up, 25 were not fertile, and I have the eggs to prove it, so I got 5 ducks that they sell for $4 and some change each, and they refuse to credit me anything, NOTHING, even though I had more orders with them, they did not ship them, I picked them up and put them in the incubator shortly there after, but no matter what I did with them you can see they were not fertile..... to me that is bad business, I would think they would try and do something to make it right, anything.... but they did not even try. SO just a warning, the whole egg, thing is a RIP OFF!..... read more

I went into the store in Caldwell, and bought 4 BL pullets and two RR roosters one pullet turned out to be a rooster,25 % roosters, you got to be kidding.So I called them, "sorry about that we are out of pullets" no mention of a refund or anything, so I paid over $12 for 3 pullets and 3 roosters, what a load of crap.I think I'll order my next batch from the hatchery in Texas, Ideal Poultry,I've ordered from them before and was treated very well.You would think that after all the chicks, gamebirds, hatching eggs and mature birds that I have purchased over the years from Dunlap they would make it right, but no, they got my money, so screeew me.This hatchery has sure went down hill.I am probably done with them,so look somewhere else for your birds, you'll get better quality chickens anyway! read more

Dunlap Hatchery is an excellent place for all things poultry. We've gotten both chicks and supplies from them and never experienced a big problem. Prices on supplies are surprisingly good, too, considering it is a brick and mortar store. read more
