Having occasion to go out for a celebratory dinner, the hubby and I headed to Hombre at the Mango…read moreHill Marketplace because I had seen their Instagram and wanted to sample their fare. Their tagline is "Mexican Street Food". Much like GYG, the ordering system entails building your meal from an array of choices. I was impressed by the five or so types of filling and variety of salsas on offer. The prices are as to be expected - about $12 for a large enchilada, plus add-ons. We ended up spending $50 on meals, drinks and a side. It seems to be a pretty popular place, we waited at least 10-15mins for our order and people were going in and out with takeaways. The wait gave us a chance to admire the Mexican Hipster decor anyway. Our meals were great - my chipotle chicken was shredded and stuffed into an enchilada with black beans then smothered in salsa, sour cream & guac. My husband's chilli con care soft tacos looked fab and he described the habanero chilli salsa as "burny good". His nose was running by the end so must have been hot enough for his taste! They're licensed too, with the requisite frozen margaritas spinning in their dispensers for your enjoyment. I noted they also take pride in their tequila menu, and even do a Shot Plate of you want to sample some different types of Jose Cuervo. We'll be back, and will probably have a drink next time!

You can get Acai bowls, burgers, hot dogs, fries (the clean and dirty variety), and Smoothies and Milkshakes galore. The food is always full of flavour and I was really impressed with my Dragon Fruit Bowl (pitaya) blended with acai, banana, apple & strawberries topped with granola & seasonal fruits. It was pretty tasty. I also love that they have non-hot salsa to have, I love the mango and avocado when I have a chipotle chicken burrito. Average lunch is about $40 for 2 people. All in all its a good spot to go to and I love that its away from the Westfield shopping centre!

Following my recent visit to Fiestia Mexican, Morayfield I feel compelled to write this review. Let…read moreme be the first to say this venue has loads of potential however for one reason or another the ball has dropped when in reality they should be riding the honeymoon wave of their wild and well publicized grand opening event. Let's face it, the only reason we go to a restaurant is the food, without it entering the front door would serve no purpose. On my recent trip to satisfy my Mexican addiction I decided on Fiestia over my usual other. On arrival the first thing I noticed was a large torn and weathered poster plastered on the glass of the business featuring prominently to passing traffic and pedestrians. The display amongst other things indicated 'opening soon' however given the state I'm gathering it had been there for many months and quietly weathered to the point where someone had made a loose attempt to remove it, unfortunately in the process they'd left large torn and unsightly edges against the glass before abandoning their removal attempt halfway through the the job, that was my first impression and as we all know it's the first that counts. It can only get better right... Moving into the dining area I couldn't help but notice the lack of patronage, there was a rather uncomfortable looking couple sitting with their back to the wall, the large open plan seating arrangement was completely empty and the absence of any ambiance, music or noise made me wonder if the business was really up the the job. At the least I couldn't help but feel 'Fiesta' was having a hard time living up to its name. The young female attendant was standing awkwardly behind the counter watching those around, to say a pin drop could have broken the silence is an understatement. I moved cautiously to the counter and studied the menu, impressive I thought and instantly craved something special. I promptly ordered my usual, 'spicy chicken tacos', the way I see it If I order the same meal at every place it gives me a benchmark to make an informed decision about the quality and quantity of the dish. I handed over a $20 and was surprised to find the attendant was unable to provide me change, now let's be serious here. I arrived for dinner and I'm not trying to break a $100. This is a $20 note when the total bill fell just slightly short. After much wheeling and dealing I was provided my change in 5 and 10c pieces before awaiting my meal. It arrived shortly after, prompt service and a friendly smile, now was the moment of truth, my 3 tacos looked great but after my first bite I started to wonder whether a mistake had been made, perhaps I'd been served the vegetarian bean instead. The 'spicy chicken' was clearly just an appealing name for what was otherwise a can of drained beans emptied into 3 tacos, a very small (and this is being generous) serve of meat with salsa on top. Surprised and a little curious I deconstructed my meal and was disappointed to find each was made with the same ratio. I left disheartened, I've told my friends, I've published an honest review and I've since had many additional happy and very satisfying meals at my usual and other exciting venues, unfortunately for Fiesta they won't be joining this list.
