Zalie Cakes in downtown Hollywood is a unique bakery at the rear of the shop selling freshly baked red velvet and banana mini-cakes for $4.00, in addition to Oreo Brookies, Cinnamon Buns and Cookie Butter Babka Rolls Cheesecake. The baked treats are all dairy free, egg free and vegan. We purchased the banana mini cake which was moist and delish. The big deal is every Tuesday with $2.00 mini cakes. We came on a very busy time since there were over twenty customers on a food walk tour trying to get their baked treats at once and it seemed the person behind the counter was overwhelmed, and I was too. The shop had really nostalgic items from the 70s and 80s scattered around the room including old albums and toys with a nice giant blue velvetish shoe seat. The parking was easy on the street for $1.50 an hour so not bad at all. They do offer a big parking garage too. read more

What a cool little shop I stumbled into! I was in the area checking out a shop from across the street and stumbled into Zalie Cakes! Immediately I was drawn in by the amazing music playlist that was playing and was immediately in awe by their cool things they had! Lots of vintage, lots of music, a little bit of everything! They have coffee, ice cream, and cakes! They are vegan, and have a lot of alternatives like no dairy c no eggs and such. I stopped in because I saw on the South Florida Vegan page that this business was struggling to stay open. I know how hard it is to keep a good business alive in Downtown Hollyweird so I was dying to come in for some soft serve. Unfortunately, that experience was a little disappointing. I parked across the street and my mom waited in the car with the kids (because kids.) so I had to bring the soft serve out one by one. I also ended up with some mini cakes, and tried to juggle the treats in a few trips. It would have been a success if everything hadn't melted in my hands. The mini cakes were great but they were super soft and melted in my hands as well. Lets just say, the soft serve didn't even make it in my hand before it fell over so they gave me a new one, which didn't make it to the backseat for my 4 year old to enjoy either. The rubber mats of our truck sure thought it was tasty though. My recommendation, enjoy your treats inside this eclectic little shop, I'm glad I was able to enjoy mine that way! I can say, if you take my advice and stay in here, you'll definitely be entertained as you look through all the random second hand items. I needed last minute cupcakes for my mom's 94th birthday on a Sunday. I found this little spot hiding in Hollywood. What a great surprise! I'm so happy with this find. First of all I walk in the front door and was automatically greeted with a smile. Secondly there were some special artsy kind of finds in the front of the shop, like hand painted clothes and jewelry. The smell of coffee was in the air. I didn't get any coffee because I already had a bunch but will be back for some in the future. What caught my eye were not cupcakes but baby bundt cakes decorated like cupcakes. SCORE! I got 6 mini cakes. I have to say they were good but this particular group may have been a little on the stale side due to them being in the refrigerator. Not only they offer decent prices but they were also able to help with my order on such a short notice. I tried ordering five items via Uber eats at 4:51PM and they canceled my entire order with no rationale. I just received an email saying that "one of my items was out of stock." Omg this place is so cute once u get inside. It's very girly, it's full of random thing that they resell from local merchants like tinctures, crystals, herbs, snacks, trinkets, etc. And not to mention, they have their own full blown custom vegan bakery in the back! The back is the best part, so really, don't be nervous & go to the end. They have a hot drink/tea/coffee bar area and soooo many desserts that you probably can't find anywhere else in soflo easily at a walk up, counter, single serve cafe. (Most of what they have that u can buy by the piece or slice, you'd have to custom order elsewhere). The cakes look like wedding cakes, they have cinnamon rolls (which I usually get), that are actually soft & not dry & vegany textured with lots of frosting, & a plethora of chunky, moist, cookies. Everything there looks like real non vegan desserts- you could definitely trick regular eaters with it hehe. Went here for a custom cake for my girlfriend's birthday and it came out great it was a little more than i expected to pay but the service was fast got it on time and everything only real problem i had was that i had asked for the cake to be made with red velvet and it didnt seem like red velvet just regular chocolate. The cake was good and im not sure if it was just a dark tone of red velvet but it didnt taste like it so that was a bit of a bummer.
