Not only that, but if you tell them you can bring your car by Monday morning, they'll schedule you for opening on Monday, not tell you they did so, then when you show up at 9, they'll tell you they can't squeeze you in and you'll have to reschedule. I made my appointment face to face in person and was never told my appointment was at 8am. never once. and the man who made that appointment sat and watched while the other desk attendant tried to tell me I was told what time my appointment was at. so instead of taking accountability for their actions they'd rather blame a potential customer coming in for a diagnosis on MULTIPLE THINGS. These guys either hate money or truly do not care about the customer. be warned. They might care about regular customers, but the average person who's never been here, STAY AWAY. read more

we went to zaks auto thinking they would take pride in their work. we have a 350z we trusted Zaks auto to care for and repair per our agreement. we had $3400 in suspension work and an alignment completed at Zaks per their guidance. we left there and of course a couple days later the slave cylinder went so it stayed parked in our driveway. until yesterday we brought it to another shop for service. they called us today notifying us that they found hand tightened bolts and advised the alignment needed to be done. The mechanic at Go Auto advised that this was extremely dangerous to drive the vehicle this way and stated it could not be driven out of their lot like it was. resulting in added labor to do what we paid Zaks auto to do. if you want to pay for things twice bring your car to Zaks. I have been to Zaks Auto twice in the last 2 months! I showed up in September to get all new tires on my 2015 Sonata as well as a standard oil change. I was greeted at the front by the service advisor, Joshua. He was friendly, fast and extremely knowledgeable. He helped me pick great tires for my vehicle and allowed me to wait in house for my vehicle to be serviced. The waiting room is SO clean and everyone is very friendly. I spoke with the owner, Zak, who was extremely nice and followed up to ensure my experience was going well. I had some complimentary snacks and waiting for my vehicle while watching some Netflix shows, which definitely made my wait extra enjoyable! I even got to speak with the technician who worked on my vehicle, Ian who was also very pleasant to work with! Ian worked along side Joshua to thoroughly explain everything that was done to the car! I came back about 10 days after because I unfortunately got a nail in one of my brand new tires (Massachusetts roads) Joshua booked me right in for another appointment. I have brought my car 2010 VW to Zaks Auto and have gotten it repaired, they are knowledgeable and I highly recommend them.

I'd been to Zak's a few times previously for work on my Porsche 996 and was happy with the experience. This time I brought the car in to have the wheels balanced and to have the A/C system checked out. They had charged the A/C system one year prior but it was now putting out warm air, so it probably had developed a small leak. Anyway, they found the leak coming out of a small metal hose located on the front firewall/bulkhead. As they couldn't get the part that day and said they'd have to order it and wait, I told them don't bother recharging the system now, let me get the part (rather than ordering it from a Por$che dealer) and we'll recharge the system after we find/get the replacement part, my logic being no need to waste freon and $$. I will say I was impressed by Ian, the tech who worked on my car as he struck me as knowledgeable, professional and courteous. When they presented me with the bill I asked for a credit for the non-charging of the system (per my request). Note that they didn't have to use any new freon to perform the diagnostic as there was still some freon and dye in there from the year before (when they serviced it) that allowed them to find the leak this time around. After much negotiating, they gave me all of a $15 credit (off the $120 A/C service charge), stating that's all they could allow for a credit as the recharge portion was "a courtesy" part of the AC service. Umm, ok. I then drove home. Two weeks later, as it has been so hot (and I hadn't yet sourced the needed hose) I was kicking myself for not having them charge the A/C. So I called them and asked them if they could charge it and have me just pay the $15 credit they gave me earlier when I opted not to have it charged. Long story short, they wanted to charge me the full $120, even though I told them I didn't need the full service, just the recharge -- no diagnostic/trouble shooting needed as they'd already done that. I stated that was ridiculous, given they only gave me a $15 credit for the recharge. I even would've settled for them doing it for $60, but again they wouldn't budge from the $120. No consideration given for logic and fairness and no consideration given to a (formerly) loyal customer. read more

STAY AWAY FROM ZAKS! Went for a simple tire and wheel install just to find out my right front tire/steering was rattling after, car drove perfectly straight and comfortable. Before picking up the vehicle they said my tie rod was sieged and needed to be placed, after some investigation I found out they took out 2 bolts from my lower strut plate that caused the rattling ( $6 dollar fix) if I had them do the job with out inspection it would of cost $$$$. I called Zak's Auto when I learned from a chain auto company that I needed to replace my clutch. I prefer to support local businesses and found them on Yelp. Every five star review they have received was well deserved, in my opinion! I called for a quote and spoke with the owner directly. After a few questions, he promised to get back to me with a quote within the hour, which he did. It was comparable to several other places I had called, so I decided to proceed. He put me in touch with Kristi, the service manager, who could not have been more friendly and helpful. Having a customer service background, this was much appreciated. I dropped my car off late on Tuesday after work and it was made easy by the key drop. I got a call first thing Wednesday saying they had already started on my car, but ran into an unexpected issue that needed repair. I was given the options of fixing it while on the lift or doing it later, and given quotes for both, with no pressure either way. I agreed that fixing it now made more sense. Since the car part had to be ordered, delaying the repair time, they offered me a rental for the following day. I declined, but was thankful for the offer! Kristi explained that another reason for the delay was because they wanted to be sure to take it for a decent test drive to ensure all was in proper working order. I picked my car up this evening, and was greeted warmly by both Kristi and Kristen. I was pleasantly surprised that my invoice was less than expected. Clearly this business is honest and reputable, and values its customers. I'll definitely be using their services in the future! As an added bonus, they have two dogs that hang out in the office. As someone who loves animals and works in the animal welfare field, this made me happy! They also had posters supporting local charities in the office. A few years ago, I had my brakes done by Zak's. One of my rear brakes (drums on that car) had a manufacturing defect and would ring and moan at times when stopping. I had to bring the car to them 4 times before Zak finally got into my car with me and heard the sound. They finally took the drum apart and saw what my friend had told me to point out to them, and they replaced the brakes for no charge. I took my new car to them for brakes in 2017 and my brakes did not sound right. About a week later, there was a loud bang from my driver's side brake. The same friend looked at the brakes and said they were fine, but Zak's must have not done something specific to my caliper before they reinstalled the caliper. At this same time, my passenger side brakes were making a grinding noise, and i was told a pad was gone. They did my brakes, and two years later the same brake is making the same noises. They now tell me it's my caliper. The same friend from before is going to replace my brake pads this weekend but says that from the pictures he's seen, the pads are what is seizing. If it were my caliper now, it probably would have been my caliper 2 years ago, why was this not found then? Now... we get into the three times they have attempted to balance my snow tires in the past week. I'm going to be taking the tires they mounted and can't balance to Sullivan Tire to have it done by people who know how to balance tires. I just took another set off, and the car had zero shake while they were mounted. Short of needing an alignment, which nothing says causes this shake from left to right in the steering wheel, I can only guess it's because of their refusal to use the dots that the manufacturer painted on the tire itself to balance the tires as per my explicit request. I've been taking my 2005 Camry to Zak's for a little while now. I think the operative phrases with Zak's are: value, customer service, honesty, and quality. It's important to not confuse value here with cheap, however; what I mean is, you get a lot relative to what you pay for it. You can probably find a cheaper mechanic to do XYZ, but I can almost guarantee that neither the work nor the warranty will be as good. Additionally, the honesty component here will probably serve you well, and save you money, in the long run. Case in point: I had a quite complicated repair with my car a little while back where the throttle assembly stuck, failed, and drew SO much current from the engine computer that it fried that as well (issues related to this being Toyota's first foray into drive-by-wire throttle systems back in the mid 2000's). Talk about what could have turned into a nightmare of a fix! We only knew about the engine computer at first (since it had failed, obviously it didn't throw the proper diagnostic code for the throttle assembly issue). After having to have my car towed there, Jason and the mechanics went out of their way to diagnose the issue, locate a used engine computer at much lower cost than a new one (which can run about $1,000 just for the part), install it, program it, and get everything ready to go in just a couple days. Then we discovered the other problem...the stuck throttle assembly...a problem common enough that Toyota actually designed a replacement part for it after they realized it was an issue. However, this obviously caused an unexpected delay, so when I went to pick my car up...surprise they were still furiously working on it...That was kind of a problem since I had to work the following afternoon. Not only did they manage to get everything squared away for late morning the next day for me to pick my car up, but, despite already saving me a bunch of money, they still knocked a little bit extra off for the delayed repair for something that was really not their fault, without me even asking them to. That really sealed the deal for me as far as customer service goes. You can run into issues sometimes no matter how good a place is, but it's how you handle them that sets you apart. Needless to say, I'm a customer for life now. I don't trust anyone else to do anything anymore but about change the oil. Even then, I still try to go to Zak's. I prefer to give them my hard earned money over any other shop. read more

Two weeks ago, I brought my Mazda and my daughter's Honda to Zack's for the first time. Rachel, in the front office, was friendly and very knowledgeable; she analyzed the cars' symptoms and patiently explained the procedures to be done in layman's terms. Jeff Noyles worked on both cars. He was very approachable and clearly described the repairs. I am really happy with the quality of his work. The 1998 Honda Civic had the original spark plugs and wires and desperately needed a tune-up. It runs so much better now - the engine runs smoother and stronger on the road. The Mazda had a slow leak in one of the tires. I tested the tire pressure for two weeks to make sure the leak was gone before writing this recommendation. Overall, it was a good experience with no surprises. The repairs were right on and reasonably priced. read more

I've going to Zak's for service on my 1999 VW EVC for a few years now. The service I receive is hands down the best. Recently Zak and his crew went above and beyond. I was in Nashville having mechanical difficulties. I brought my vehicle to a nearby mechanic and he delivered quite a blow... He said my starter had gone and it was going to cost me a whopping $700 to replace. I immediately called Zac to confirm that they had just put a starter in the previous year. I explained to Zak what was happening. He contacted the mechanic in Nashville and miraculously I only needed to replace a cable. A repair that cost me $90 as opposed to $700. JUST AS BAD AS THE DEALERSHIP REPAIR DEPARTMENTS. I brought my car to Zaks as a very good friend of mine recommended Zaks as he knows the owner personally. I called to bring my vehicle in and explained all I needed was to have a new fuel pump control unit programmed which Jake informed me they could get done and it would be about $275 to have done which is a little pricey seeing it's just programming but seeing I didn't have the BMW software had to bite the bullet. When I went to pick up my car the price ended up being $420 as they added on a "diagnosis fee" of $150. I tried to dispute the fee as I was very explicit on the work I wanted done and they wouldn't remove it so I just paid for my car as I needed to get to an appointment. I told my friend who knows the owner and recommended Zaks about this and he spoke to the owner who said he would contact me and I have yet to have received a call to discuss the issue. I would recommend avoiding Zaks as if they are going to nickel and dime friends of friends I can just image what they do to the average person just coming off the street who doesn't know better. On top of all this they part of the diagnosis was to replace the main belt which is a bit funny as I just had it replaced 3 months ago. Obviously their diagnosis they charge $150 isn't thorough and are simply trying to get their customers pay for repairs that don't actually need done. Avoid going to Zaks if you want to save you hard earned money as they aren't any different from the dealerships. read more
