We hired Lucas Fila of Fila Construction through Yelp on September 9th and paid a 30% deposit. What…read morefollowed was three months of broken promises, no-shows, and excuses. Timeline of False Promises: * Sept 24: Work was supposed to start, but Lucas claimed he had a kidney infection and rescheduled for Oct 6. * Oct 6: No-show. Promised his electrician and plumber would contact us. Never happened. Rescheduled for Oct 20, "guaranteed." * Oct 20-21: Lucas finally showed up around 11 AM both days for demo work, but failed to protect our home--no plastic barriers, no air vent covers. Dust spread throughout our entire house. He worked a total of about 10 hours over two days. He left two large piles of rubble and said he would be back later in the week to remove them. Being thoughtful, my wife loaned him $150 worth of moving blankets to help protect some antique furniture he bought. * Nov 17: We hired our own electrician and plumber since his never contacted us. They completed their work on November 19. Lucas said he'd start on Nov 21. We asked Lucas to return the blankets. He still hadn't removed the rubble. * Nov 21-22: No-show, no communication whatsoever. * Nov 23: Lucas finally responded, saying that he was taking a week's vacation and then had family coming in for Thanksgiving, promised to start on Dec 8 and finish by Dec 12. Still didn't return our moving blankets. * Dec 8: Another no-show. This time, his father was in the hospital. * Dec 9-10: We had to demand that he return our blankets. He finally returned them on December 10 after my wife left repeated texts and voicemails. When he returned them, we fired him and told him we no longer trusted him to continue working on our project. The Problems: * Chronic lateness and no-shows without communication * Always has an excuse ready * Fails to protect your home during work * Doesn't follow through on sending subcontractors * All we got for our money are two piles of rubble that we now need to hire someone else to remove. We wasted three months waiting for Lucas to do the work. We finally fired him and wrote off the money we'd paid him. Save yourself the headache, money, and time--hire someone else.

Interestingly, the firm subcontracted 2 different carpentry firms. one to build an overhang on our front door and the other, Jenson Carpentry, to build a new pool house. Jenson as a subcontractor was outstanding The pool house was completed before the overhang on our front door. Waldron insisted on us ordering our custom front door from a particular manufacturer in order to get his "Warranty". The door cost twice the price we planned to spend and was not delivered until nearly a year after we wrote a check in full to Waldron. Months elapsed before we, as the customer, heard from the manufacturer for clarifications. There were many issues and many emails between us as the customer with the manufacturer, not with Waldron. When we received the door, it did not meet our requirements provided in writing to Waldron. Waldron told us it was not his problem.

He doesn't take care of issues but passes them to his employees. We paid a lot for for our kitchen and there are things that are not right. Joe makes the client feel that everything is the client's fault, doesn't follow through to check on things and again, would NEVER recommend. In our contract it also states that they clean up after and our basement where they had to do work for our kitchen has never been clean. The whole orocess has been a complete disappointment and it is stressed, do not use them. Almost a year and iur kitchen has not neen completed.

From the…read morevery first conversation, he demonstrated professionalism, deep expertise, and a genuine commitment to bringing our space back to life. Every step of the process was handled with care. He provided clear communication, thoughtful recommendations, and a level of craftsmanship that's increasingly rare. He didn't just "fix" things; he restored them with precision and pride, making the final result even better than the original. The team was punctual, respectful of our home, and incredibly organized. They kept the project on schedule, maintained a clean work environment, and made sure we understood what was happening at each stage. We wouldn't hesitate to hire them again or recommend them to anyone looking for top‑tier restoration work. If you want quality, integrity, and beautiful results, this is the contractor you want.

The top part of the deck, made from teak, is still fine, but all the rails (aside from the main supports) and bottom of the stairs were pine, so many of those parts needed replacement due to wood rot. Additionally, the slats that framed around the porch weren't attached properly, so Marcus took them all off and reattached them correctly and securely. He also removed an electrical outlet that wasn't working and capped off the wiring. The baseboards were also replaced with PVC. It was a full-day project, and these guys worked hard. I can't say enough for their professionalism--from the quality work they did (plus explaining everything to me), and beginning and ending the day with cordial words. Such politeness is not a give in these days. The day began with a friendly greeting and ended in the evening with, "Have a nice night," not to mention polite interactions throughout the day. They also cleaned up perfectly, removing all the old wood. Even though they went beyond what we discussed, and Marcus did the extra work (wooden slats that weren't attached properly and a piece of wood behind the stairs that was replaced with PVC which we hadn't talked about initially) Marcus stuck to his original estimate. ***I would recommend these guys without reservation.*** I will also add that their pricing was very fair with an estimate given ahead of time. It was an stress-free day. Thanks Marcus and Devon.
