Titan Lawn Care

Titan Lawn Care

I cannot recommend Titan Sod for installation. My first experience buying pallets from them to DIY…read morewent fine, but hiring them for a full $1,500 installation was a nightmare of aggressive business practices and poor workmanship. 1. Unannounced Installation & Lien Threats While gathering quotes for a 2-pallet install, Titan Sod sent a link requiring a 50% deposit by Monday at 9:00 AM to lock in the job. I went with a more competitive contractor and never paid Titan's deposit. Despite no deposit, no signed contract, and zero advance notice, Titan showed up while I wasn't home and installed the sod anyway. When I told them I hadn't paid the deposit and hired someone else, they immediately threatened to put a lien on my house. Under threat of a lien, I agreed to pay a matched rate of $1,300 after Ethan assured me on the phone he would take care of any issues with the sod. 2. Subpar Prep & Failing Sod When I inspected the work, the installation defects were obvious:Improper Grading: They failed to cut out enough underlying soil. The new sod sits above my neighbor's property line, rides up the fence, and completely blocked my fence gate. I had to dig out 3 inches of dirt myself just to open my gate. Unstripped Root Bed: Lifting the sod squares reveals thick, uncut root systems from the old turf underneath. Because the new sod isn't making direct contact with bare soil in many areas, it cannot retain moisture or root properly, and it is already yellowing despite logged daily irrigation. When I asked Ethan to fix the high grading and dying turf, he told me to "give it time to settle", ignored my request to re-cut the high spots, and then flatly stated via text that they offer "no guarantee/warranty" on their work, completely walking back what he promised on the phone. Save yourself the headache. If you want proper soil prep or a company that stands behind its installations, look elsewhere. I am now forced to hire an independent landscaper to inspect and fix this mess and evaluate whether small claims court can recover my $1,300 in the case the sod doesn't take despite adequate irrigation best practices (https://triturfsod.com/blog/new-sod-care-guide-first-30-days). Look for yourself how the grass looks in the initial install vs. in the text exchange and how it quickly declines. I plan to update this review and photos as we wait and see.
