No one was at the front desk, so I went around outside to the garage and flagged down a mechanic. He told me he didn't know where the manager who was supposed to be at the desk was. Waited another 15 minutes. Then the mechanic that I had flagged down originally came to the front desk. He waited on me while arguing with Verizon about setting up his cell phone service. He said the work would take 2 hours and said someone from the shop would take me home as I didn't want to wait there. Next thing I know, magically I am told by the manager it will only be an hour. I said ok and waited until 11:45am. Then I was upsold on other work I was told needed to be done, including changing the air filter. I agreed as I was told it would be another hour. I went to get lunch and returned. I was told the work wasn't done yet. Finally, at about 1:15 pm I was told the work was done and I paid for the work. Then I could see my car in the parking lot with the hood up. I went out and asked why the hood was up. Manager told me they didn't have the right size air filter. I told him that I shouldn't have to wait as I had been there 3.5 hours already. So the mechanic that was outside with us dumpster dives into the trash bin and took out my old filter that I was told had to be replaced. He was going to put the old filter into my car. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I paid for a new filter because I was told I needed one. And they wanted to fish out the old one from the trash (with God knows what on it ) and put it in? Why would anyone do that? Waited another 15 minutes before the "right" size filter magically appeared. I Will never go back again.

I came by on a weekday, and it was kinda busy! So plan accordingly. Luckily, it wasn't too bad, and the staff worked pretty fast. For someone who doesn't know about cars, I feel like this is a good place to tell everyone that you should definitely get a 2nd opinion before having anything besides oil done on your car here. I don't know enough to know what my car needs, but I think it's just a safe way to go for these kinds of things. The staff is super helpful, and the service was great! Can't complain there! There's really not much else to say! Easy to get in, easy to get out, and I didn't feel like they were too pushy on trying to upsell me on things. They were just doin' their jobs, so kudos to them. They took the Groupon code, and told me that is just a $34.20 credit toward the cost of the oil change, but they would give me a discount off the full price of the oil change. To be clear, there was no confusion about the Groupon. I authorized a $20 upgrade to synthetic oil because, as I told the employee, I knew they likely did not make much off the Groupons. The employees who did the work were friendly and courteous. The oil change was well done. It was quick - everything about the experience was good except for the bait and switch. This is clearly something they do, so I didn't bother get into an argument with another manager about a refund, or call them the next day - it's not worth the headache. I just won't go back to that location and hope to warn others. It was really disappointing because I've had repeated fantastic experiences with the location on 17th St. in Costa Mesa.
