Special #7: Gyro Sandwich, Baba Ghanouj, Pita Bread, and Fried Zucchini
    Santanu S.

Upon entering the restaurant, I followed the customer who was ahead. While waiting for his to-go order, I quickly browsed the lunch specials. Half did not mention a fountain drink. The ones seemed to have sides a tourist in Greece may seek, French fries or baklava. When I asked to confirm the one with the baba ghanouj did not come with a drink, the cashier curtly answered. He may have been tired of answering the same question today. The two pieces of fried zucchini were okay. Because the pita bread were also topped with chopped tomatoes, they were slightly soggy. Fortunately, they were firm enough to scoop up the baba ghanouj. I would have preferred additional pieces of pita bread instead of the fried zucchini. The gyro was enjoyable. After a few initial bites, I started tasting the sauce.

Work lunches just hit different when it's from here…read more There were six of us, and somehow we all collectively agreed that one full order of feta fries would be enough... which is adorable in hindsight. Because those fries? Not "shareable." Not "optional." These are crack fries (respectfully). Crispy, hot, loaded with feta and that house sauce doing its thing. Gone in record time. No regrets. Everyone else branched out with different bowls and salads--chicken bowls over basmati, fresh Mediterranean salads stacked with feta, olives, all the good stuff--but me? I stay loyal. The Spicy 360 wrap is my go-to--and let's be very clear--gyro meat only (as it should be ). And somehow... today it leveled up. Like, I took a bite and had a full "hold on" moment. The gyro meat was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and paired with those fresh jalapeños, sautéed onions and mushrooms? Unreal. Then the house sauce comes in and just ties the whole thing together like it knows it's the main character. I genuinely didn't think it could get better, and yet--here we are. Now--important note from your resident "dressing on the side" girl: if you forget to ask for light sauce or on the side, they do not play about it it can feel like a lot. BUT for the rest of my group? That sauce is basically a personality trait. The kind of "I'd throw my whole diet away for this" situation. So just know yourself and plan accordingly--but absolutely try the house sauce on something. It's too good not to. And the staff? Always kind, always helpful, never making you feel rushed even when it's busy. It's one of those places where you can sit, eat, talk a little shop, laugh a lot, and forget you're technically on a lunch break. Consistently good food, good people, and a solid excuse to abandon your sad desk lunch. We'll absolutely keep this one in heavy rotation.

Kim quickly allowed us to choose a table, proceeded to serve drinks and make a very honest and bold recommendation. When asked, what's the best thing on the menu? She said, if you close your eyes and point anything to the menu, you'll land on a winner. Well, she wasn't wrong! The three of us all had something different and everything was very tasty. We started off with the smoothest baba ghanoush I've ever had in my life! It was dotted with a beautiful olive in the middle. The presentation was comparable to a lot of high end restaurants, but with Mom and pop prices. We started with a greek salad and then I enjoyed the Chicken Scalappine and it was light, but satisfying. After finishing off with some baklava, I perused the market items and found some "hard to find ingredients" for a Persian dish that I would like to make. Although we were the only ones when we arrived, by the time we left two other tables had parties seated. Made me realize that I was late to the party on this hidden gem in Denton! I would definitely recommend checking them out.

When I Googled them, looked at "full menu", the prices were $5.99 for most of the appetizers and $17.99 for lamb kebab with a smattering of grilled veggies and some rice. Reasonable. We walked in, perused the menu, and wow, the prices have gone up since last updated on Google!!! The appetizers are roughly $10 and the lamb kebab is $35. There are a few menu items for less, but a lot was $35. I brought it to his attention and he said he would get it fixed.

After my first visit, I completely understand why. When I walked in, I was immediately welcomed and kindly guided through parts of the menu I wasn't familiar with. Mediterranean food usually isn't my go-to, so I appreciated how patient and helpful they were without making me feel out of place. I ordered the beef shawarma plate with tzatziki and hot sauce on the side, then sat at the barstools near the food prep area while I waited. Watching the owner prepare the food was honestly part of the experience. At one point, he came over and insisted I try their tea. I initially declined, but he smiled and said he'd only pour me half a cup. That small act of kindness and hospitality genuinely sold me on this place. The restaurant was clean, quiet, welcoming, and smelled incredible. And yes, absolutely try the tea. It was a custom Earl Grey blend made specifically for them, and it was fantastic. When I got home, I was surprised by how generous the portions were for the price. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully balanced. The spices were used perfectly, the produce tasted fresh, and the food even held its temperature well by the time I got home. I've only been here once so far, but I already plan on becoming a regular, probably at least once a week. Y'all are doing an amazing job, and I'm really glad I found this place.

We were greeted and seated right away. Service throughout was warm and attentive, our server checked on us a few times to make sure everything was good. They started us with warm, crispy bread and a yogurt-based dip that was quite flavorful. I ordered the lamb shish kebab platter (well done), and we also tried the chicken shish kebab platter. Both came with buttery rice, a fresh salad drizzled with olive oil, and yogurt sauce. The chicken was tender and properly seasoned, but the lamb was the highlight. Lamb can easily turn dry or overly gamey if not handled right, but this was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor even when cooked well done, exactly how a good shish kebab should be. I skipped dessert this time, though they offer a few options, and I noticed what appeared to be a buffet setup, which I'm curious to try next. Overall, a solid, well executed Mediterranean meal. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
