Figs for desert
Alice W.

This place is a GEM! Really good affordable vegetarian food and very friendly staff. Looks like a humble but popular place where the locals eat. I'd come here every day. No English menu and staff don't speak English. I tried to use google translate with the menu (which took a while) and still couldn't decide what to get, so I looked at my neighbors table. My neighbor was so nice they couldn't speak English but they pointed out the dishes they ordered and offered me to try their food! Waiter saw this and brought me a big plate full of samples so I could try them all! I ended up getting the same dish my neighbor got, a package with original soup, a big plate of fruits, rice and a variety of vegetables, and figs for desert, all for under $100 + tip! 5 stars for service, 5 stars for food, 5 stars for neighbour eating next table! :)

A good section of fresh baked goods.

Yug is an institution in the Mexico City veggie scene. No, it is not the newest. It is not the fanciest. But it was there decades ago when finding vegetarian or vegan food was challenging in Mexico City. It continues to offer decent vegetarian options at nearly unbeatable prices. There is a lot of variety. The staff has been around and is helpful. If you are looking to show off, this is not for you. But if you want to experience some local heritage, then welcome....

Pretty disappointing, inauthentic Mexican spot catering to tourists who are too scared of authentic…read moreMexican cuisine. The food is alright, but massively overpriced and lacking flavour depth. We stopped in for dinner and were greeted by a very friendly, English-speaking server. I ordered the lentil soup (110 pesos) to start -- pretty tasty, but overpriced given what you get. My wife & I also shared the huitlacoche dumplings (150 pesos), which comes with 4 dumplings filled with a sort of corn-like filling and topped with a peanuty sauce -- tasty, but a rip-off for 4 pieces. For our mains, I got the protein bowl (280 pesos) and added some chickpea chorizon (25 pesos). Fairly boring but healthy bowl. Nothing really stood out. The tofu was not plentiful enough, nor prepared all that well. Satisyfing enough, but again, overpriced. My wife got the Enfrijoladas (265 pesos), a dish with pink tortillas filled with plantains, coconut cheese and almonds, all sitting in a black bean sauce. The tastes I had were pretty solid, but lacked flavour depth and needed some spices to amp it up. All in all, not worth the hype, especially if you're looking for authentic vegan Mexican. There are many other places worth prioritizing in town.

Believe the hype. Outrageously priced but worth it (to me) as this is vegan food you won't find…read moreoutside Mexico City. One note: if charging USA prices you really have to try to reach USA service expectations. 45 minute wait for tacos. I had to go find my own napkins and flatware. Again, the food is worth it but this was the most expensive meal we ate in Mexico.

I love the concept of this place because there are so many cats and things to see. I would almost…read moreconsider it a playhouse with a restaurant inside. I came here with my tablet and made friends with an orange tabby cat after a short time I ordered the Gancito cake that they had on display in the redrigerator. It's like a chocolate cake with strawberries and my cat friend wasn't even begging for a piece of it. He wanted some real food, I could tell. The playhouse is located on the 8th floor and it offers great views of this part of the city. The other reason why I gave this place 5 stars were the two people working here. I've really never encountered a group of employees who were so nice. I have plans to come back to try their Shelby Burger. It is a protein type of roast beef sandwich with cheese. They actually make it here and it looks delicious.

There's literally no signage for this cat cafe, except for the small label next to their buzzer. When you approach the building labeled 19, buzz the 8th floor labeled "Vegattos". Go up the stairs and enter the elevator and hit the button for the 8th floor. You'll be greeted by a beautifully-painted mural of animals. After you buzz in (a second time), the one staff person greets you at the door. Be prepared to feel jealous as the tuxedo (Baguira) and orange tabby (Chester) will be glued to the staff person's desk and chair. The third and final cat in the space is Beto, a sleepy white cat. Beto let me give him some head rubs before retiring for a nap on the chair he was on. I ordered a chai latte (frío)!
