We hired them to do an excavation of our driveway, and RV pad and to repour it. It was a week project and every contractor has said it should have been a week.
On the first day all of their equipment broke, then their tractor, then they had a popped tire, then the key in the ignition broke, OMG!! But we understood and they didn't want to go to homedepot and rent more equipment so they broke the cement with the skid steer and back hoe and just dumped huges pieces of rock and cement on our retention wall.
They Broke our retention wall, broke the water pipeline, ripped up our internet cables, our electric sprinkler system, damaged our stucco and at the end wouldn't take responsibility of the foundation rocks the broke on our retention wall.
We paid for 5' inches of concrete and they didn't take the depthness down to 5 inches, always came back up to 2-3 inches, and we are paying for 5 inches of cement!! Didn't get enough roadbase, didn't compact it well, and they kept saying it was compacted. We've had 2 structural engineers and 7 contractors that have ALL agreed that there isn't enough or even at all roadbase, that the compaction was not at all done correctly or enough and that the forms were open allowing cement to seep through to the rocks. We told them so many times that we want closed forms!!! The dowels are too high on the side of the house and they didn't epoxy them into the cement.
The small retention wall they didn't go below frost line, there is no drainage in the back of the wall, and they back filled it before they put concrete, also the rebar was separated way to far apart making this wall to fall over within the year.
After 6 weeks of this mess, we fired them which we should have done a long time ago. He took $21,800 from us and wouldn't give it back. Our driveway is still unfinished and every single contractor and engineer that has come out is appalled and said that they were so careless in their work. They have all said that it has to be dug out, reapply roadbase to 6 inches, compact it properly and move the dowels to the proper position.
When we asked Nathan to hire a structural engineer, and he refused. We said it might be good to go through insurance since he was so worried about costs, and he was furious!!! Said I was threatening his family and business! I said, "Whoa! Let's be clear, I said to go through your insurance, I never threatened YOU or your family or your business!!"
We should have fired him a long time ago! He goes by "concrete cowboy" has a ton of ads on FB and TikTok and Instagram. His company is "YourHome Construction", so if you get this guy just be aware.
We had to get his insurance through the state, and when we called he was luckily insured but not bonded. He refused to give us any information on his bond, license and insurance.
With this review, I hope to warn anyone else that is hardworking and just looking for a good contractor to be aware of this man and company. Not only do we not have a driveway, but he took thousands and thousands of dollars from us, and says we "owe" him more. #concretecowboyTV #concretecowboy #nathannelson #nathannelsontv #yourhomeconstruction #concrete #construction #contractor read more
