If you're reading these reviews because you're planning a new kitchen, I hope you'll read mine before deciding who to trust with your home.
I know there are positive reviews here. I wish I had gotten to be one of those customers. I didn't.
We chose Your Cabinet Connection for the cabinetry in our first home, as part of a professionally managed new-home construction project with a general contractor. We wanted to support a local business and trusted them with one of the most expensive and meaningful projects our family had ever undertaken. What should have been exciting became years of stress, financial loss, damaged cabinetry, unfinished work, and a kitchen that, even today, is not what it should have been.
Our project began in 2019 for a 2020 installation. I want to be fair: COVID created real challenges for businesses, and we understood that. COVID was not what went wrong with our project.
Our experience included cabinetry and purchased product damaged during installation, incorrect installation, missing parts, items we were charged for but never received, repeated communication problems, and requests for payment while agreed-upon work remained unfinished.
We tried repeatedly to work through it, both directly and through our general contractor. We asked for the outstanding work to be completed and made clear that we were prepared to pay for completed work. Despite those efforts, the problems were not resolved.
Instead, as we approached the closing of our new home, with work still incomplete and payment in dispute, owner Mr. Gene Allen filed a lien in our name, creating a potentially serious issue for our closing. Our attorneys addressed the matter, and thankfully our closing was not prevented.
Ultimately, we terminated our relationship with Your Cabinet Connection with their work still unfinished.
Then came the part you don't see in the beautiful kitchen photos: finding other people willing and able to step into someone else's unfinished work. Paying for problems you never expected to have. Living with damage to expensive products you bought new. Looking at your kitchen years later and still seeing reminders of a project that went terribly wrong.
That is why I'm writing this review.
I'm not suggesting that every customer has had our experience. Clearly, some haven't. But we did. And if you're standing where I once stood, excited about your new home, looking at beautiful cabinet photos and positive reviews, trying to decide whom you can trust, I think you deserve to know that this was one family's experience too.
And this wasn't a project we were attempting to navigate entirely on our own. We had a general contractor involved throughout the project, and his involvement did not result in these issues being resolved either.
We chose a local company believing we'd receive greater care and accountability than we might as another number at a big-box store. Looking back, I believe we would have been better protected with the big-box store.
The money we lost mattered. The damaged and unfinished work mattered. But what has stayed with me is what this experience took from what should have been such a happy time for our family. Building our first home should not have felt like this.
Based on our experience, I could not recommend Your Cabinet Connection less. read more
