    I'm giving a 1 star only b/c I have to give a star!!…read more I purchased a vehicle from these morons with a 30 day warranty. I drove it off the lot to a gas station b/c the gauge read "E" (during the test drive I mentioned this and was told, "I put a couple of gallons in it"). After $40 worth of gas the gauge still read "E". I took the car back immediately. This was on a Friday (3/2014). After much verbal BS, including "It WAS working", I was told to bring it back on Monday. I drove ' I 95' approx. 20 miles to my home and then drove another 10 miles to pick up my brother from work at Assembly Square Mall. While I was in the parking lot (thank God!) the back brake line ruptured and brake fluid was flowing out of it. I called this dealership and explained the situation. I told them that the vehicle is disabled and they need to (by Mass law) call and pay for a tow truck. I called them numerous times over the course of 2.5 hrs while out in the cold and it became quite apparent that they were not calling a tow truck. Please note that this vehicle was in a mall parking lot - if left overnight it would be TOWED and IMPOUNDED at my expense. And yes I did explain that to them and they did not care. I was told to leave the vehicle in this parking lot with the keys in it. For real? I ultimately paid $175. for a tow truck to return it to their dealership. I had this vehicle for 3 hours with 2 issues, one of which could have cost me my life. They kept it for the next 17 days with every excuse in the book when I called. In the end, I got screwed! They gave me $60 of the $175 owed me. When I went to pick up the vehicle following that frustrating and anxious 17 days, I was told this by Julie: "The owner says that maybe we should buy back the vehicle b/c you're never going to be happy." What an ungrateful bitch I am!! I had the vehicle for all of 3 hours and I'm not happy! I could not afford an attorney. I did contact the Office of Consumer Affairs, but as of this date I still have not heard from them. I took the time to write this so that I could possibly save someone a similar experience/cost.

When I called and spoke to Chris about the issue he told me it wasn't his issue and he could do it at wholesale. After going back and fourth he told me to contact Anthony. Anthony asked if I checked the brakes before I put based the vehicle, then said he had to talk to Chris about repairs and never got back to me. I called Anthony the next day and he asked when I was looking to get the repairs done. When I told him the following day, he said he would get back to me and never did. I called again the following day just to be texted that Anthony would be calling me with a lawyer. Needless to say I never got that call back either. Clearly they're avoiding me because they know they're in the wrong and made a dishonest sale. I get the feeling this isn't the first time or last these guys would do this. I wouldn't recommend this place to an enemy. They are dishonest salesmen and have no plans to honor any warranty. Don't waste your time here.

You will pay a premium for a used car here but you won't get value or any kind of backing up from Herb Chambers. I bought a used Equinox and paid thousands more than a similar one at used car dealers nearby, and within a month I started having problems. Brought it back and they found two solenoids that had to be replaced at $361 each. Then they charged me $318 for a tire sensor, and $142 for a headlight bulb. Total bill came to about $1,300 because they also charge hundreds of dollars for a diagnostic as soon as you give them the car. I didn't mind paying for a headlight and tire sensor, but they totally gouged me in the price. And it's very apparent that they cleared the codes so the engine light would be off long enough to sell the car and pass inspection, and then it was OUT THE DOOR. I've bought from other Herb Chambers dealers and always had good treatment, but save your money and buy your cars elsewhere, you'll save thousands. Herb Chambers has gone downhill.

Me and my fiancée were looking for a 2nd car for us and Cristian was more than helpful in assisting us find one that checked all of our boxes. What really impressed me with him was his humbleness and honesty in regards to if he did not know the exact answer for something, he wouldn't lie and would rather say he can find out for us which he did and I greatly appreciate. Far too many people in this world aren't humble enough to not lie to you if they do not know something. Fast forward the following week, there was some slight miscommunication between the different departments and thus my car was not ready when it was planned to be unfortunately. However, Cristian and his manager Chris went above and beyond to make sure I at least had a rental car for the time being so me and my fiancée could continue with our plans we had already scheduled thinking we were getting the other car. The rental car was completely free and was a very nice 2025 Honda Accord. Chris also followed up with me later the following week due to the snow storm and assured me my car would be ready the following day which it was. I met up with my salesman Cristian the next day and I was driving my freshly detailed 2021 Mazda CX-30 off the lot within the next 30 minutes. I highly recommend Honda North and more importantly recommend buying a car off Cristian. Very reliable, humble, knowledgeable and kind. He deserves more than whatever he is currently being paid! That's North Reading Subaru. I don't know about you, but, I can count about 5 such companies. North Reading Subaru is one of them, and Subaru of America is another. On each interaction that I've had with North Reading Subaru, over many years, I have to remind myself that North Reading Subaru is a car dealership. If I didn't know better, I'd think I was doing business with Nordstrom, Costco, Nations Photo Lab, REI, or any of the other companies in America, that stand out for high quality product, business integrity and customer service. The 2026 Subaru Outback that I am in, is stellar, a significant enhancement over prior year Outback's (each, have lasted forever, with only preventative maintenance (at North Reading Subaru), and very few repairs). Jonathan Walker is a superstar sales and leasing professional, who is as knowledgeable about Subaru's as he is dedicated to business integrity and customer service. The Service Department is the best service department that I have encountered in several auto brands, over 50+ years. They perform meticulous work, are efficient, and high integrity. One thing to note, they are busy; In my opinion, they are busy, because they are so much better than other Subaru dealers in the area. We've never purchased a pre-owned car, but, I recently walked the North Reading Subaru parking lot, and I must say, I could not tell the pre-owned cars from the new cars. If we were in the market for a pre-owned Subaru, North Reading Subaru would be our first and only stop. It is a privilege to be a customer of North Reading Subaru, to KNOW that you and your car will be well cared for, and to NOT have to worry about funny, or underhanded business, often associated with car dealers.
