My last review touched on my previously most northern stop in my newly adopted state, Zippel Bay State Park in Williams, MN. We kind of blew threw the charms of that place in about 20 minutes, so that left us restless for a little adventure. We'd brought our passports just in case, not sure if we'd have time to trek up to the Northwest Angle. Yeah, we had pleennnnnty of time.
Getting there is a major trip. Cross the border into Manitoba, cross the border again back into MN, and once you arrive in the Angle, you have to phone customs and let them know that you're there. You have to phone again to let them know that you're leaving. The first reporting booth was out of service, so we phoned in at Young's Bay Resort. And stopped in the bar for a beer. And that was about all we did in the Angle!
Plenty of people were up there for the holiday weekend and seemed to be having a fine time. I think it may actually be cool to go back, by boat, across the Lake. But I think that's not really ever gonna happen. read more
