I'm seeing stars and it's not because of dilation. Yes, 5 stars for this place as an Eye Doctor. I think it's the most thorough eye exam I've ever had in my life. As a contact wearer for a long time, I'm always concerned about my eye health. I trust they're making sure my retina, cornea, lens, iris, optic nerve, macula, sclera and that ever important vitreous body are all in tip-top shape. They do both medical exams and "vision" exams (the one where you get glasses afterwards) and I've had both. Even though they stopped taking my vision insurance, I think they still take my medical insurance so I plan on continuing here for those. Again, they go all Henry David by being Thorough. The staff is always super helpful and accommodating and I get some cool roll up sunglasses on each trip! That Florida sun can be bright when I have eyes like Betty Boop! I will say their pricing on glasses is a bit high, so you may want to take your prescription and head to Costco or some other place to get the style you like at a reasonable price. But not a reason to drop a star, IMFO. read more

I called to see if they took my eye insurance and they did so I set up an appointment for myself and my husband. They were able to get us in the following week and we're able to take us one after the other to make it easier on us. We had our eyes dilated and checked thoroughly. Overall the office staff explained everything and the doctor was very nice. The inside looks clean and there is quite a big selection of glasses. I would recommend setting aside about an hour for your appointment time if you're going with someone else and need to get your eyes dilated. read more

He's passionate about the health of your eyes and vision, and his bedside manner is the best. The doctor explained everything from my tests so that it made sense. I ran out of contacts recently and decided it was time to go visit the eye doctor / optometrist. The first person that came to mind was Dr. Nguyen at You and Eyes in Avalon Park east of Waterford Lakes in East Orlando. The staff at You and Eyes were very helpful in assisting me with my eye prescription needs. I had an eye exam here and also got my eyes dilated. They took some photos of my eye as well and Dr. Nguyen showed me the areas where I might need to be aware of in the future, for example thin areas of the eye which might lead to glaucoma one day...luckily I will be fine. Dr. Nguyen was very nice and easy to understand, explaining to me different things I had not known about my eyes, for example how leaving my contacts in too long could cause a scratch on my eyes and lead to vision problems. After my exam, I discovered that my previous eye doctor had over-prescribed my contact prescription and in the long term, could cause my eye muscles to strain and cause issues later on. Dr. Nguyen was able to correct the prescription and now I can see things much more clearly without strain. Thank you Dr. Nguyen and You and Eyes for being such a great optometry practice and helping me understand my eyes better and getting what I need done! 5/5 stars - will return. read more

I had a wonderful experience today at You & Eyes. I have had so many bad experiencing with eye doctor offices that were pushy and tried to get me to buy the most expensive frames and lenses and didn't explain anything. The staff here wasn't pushy, but helpful and answered all my questions. The exam I had was the most thorough one I've had in years, and the doctor took his time and focused on explaining the health of my eyes rather than pushing a prescription on me. I found some great geek chic frames that were exactly what I was looking for and with my insurance, the bill was half of what I was quoted at big chain place in the mall. I have been coming here for 3- years now. It's the best eye doctor around. They are punctual and professional.

I wish I could choose a zero for a rating. I chose this location because it was close to my home. They were nice but it always felt like they were pushy sales people who were always trying to sell me something I didn't need. I have great insurance and it felt like they were trying to get more money out of me all of the time. They don't sell contact lenses that are economical, they only push the lenses that have promos (which made me believe those were the ones they got kick backs from). They don't sell the progressive lenses on my insurance they only sell the premium lenses. The final straw came when the doctor tried to insist that I need a $19 medical prescription for dry eyes, when I could have purchased something over the counter for $4. He originally told me to purchase the over the counter product, but when his associate went into the back (and all I can assume is she shared my insurance standing) he came out insisting that I purchase the prescription formula. When I insisted I didn't have dry eyes, he pulled me into the back room and the exchange was very aggressive and extremely uncomfortable. The actual scratchiness came from a procedure he had done. I think he scratched my eye. He told me it would take a few days to heal and it took two weeks. After the procedure, he never scheduled a follow-up, (which I learned should have happen when you have a procedure done.) He also should have instructed me not to wear my contacts while my eye healed but he didn't do that either. This further led to my speculation that he is trying to pad his pockets, because me wearing my contacts could have led to an eye infection. I got out of his back office by telling him I would think about the prescription and we could discuss it further when I came back for my annual appointment. As soon as I left the office, I called back and canceled my appoint. I will NEVER use You and Eyes again. read more

Great experience!!! I was looking for an O.D that was patient and detailed orientated and I found that in Thanh Kai Nguyen O.D. The office/lobby/staff were all great. Easy to get to location. The only downfall is that there is not a huge selection of eyewear, but they do have some good choices. I will continue to have my yearly exams with them! read more

When I needed to find an optometrist about a year ago, I'm so glad I found Dr. Nguyen! The staff are really friendly here - in particular, on my last visit, the lady at the front desk was hilariously sarcastic in just the right ways! The whole office is decorated a bit differently than any other place I've been to - a lot of fun little things you might see in the house of someone with a bit of personality, such as a "Procrastinator's Ten Commandments!" However, the exam itself is very thorough. They seem to have very up-to-date equipment as well. Dr. Nguyen does a great job and can easily explain any issues he finds. I'm really glad he found some contact lens complications, and I believe he's greatly improved my eye health by recommending I switch to daily lenses. The office can send you reminders and appointment confirmations over text and e-mail, which really helps with my schedule.
