This time I came prepared with a nice chest some ice packs for my two hour ride home tomorrow. Being in a summertime you never know.. The store is very cute. Lots of little things to purchase lots of local locals, getting ice cream and lots of people coming down from Yosemite pulling over to grab a cold treat. I recommend it a nice lady behind the counter was super nice.

I asked for a sample and the woman snapped at me "you can have ONE". A guy scooped my sample and then gave me my icecream without saying a word. The other guy ringing me up didn't bother making eye contact with me and seemed annoyed that I added chocolates to my purchase. The icecream is alright. The gooey treats are great. the lavender truffle was very dense, which I didn't love. If you're looking for good icecream and friendly service, skip this place. The positive reviews confuse me- maybe staff is only friendly to people who look like them. For the service we recieved, I regret giving them my money.

They have lots of different candy options - from the old classics like Big Chew Gum, Pop Rocks and even Clark bars to Harry Potter themed items and massive gummy candies. They also had a candy cigarette machine that was pretty cool to play with. They also sell in-house made chocolates and ice cream as well. While I do love chocolate, my favorite part of The Candy Vault is the super cool Willy Wonka themed museum room - from mementos to games to even fun facts; they also play the movie on loop. The Candy Vault is a cute old timey candy store, and while they don't necessarily sell anything out of the ordinary, the Willy Wonka room is a nice touch. The staff were friendly as well! I'm sure my family and I will be back again next time we are in downtown Sonora!

For our second visit I had the rocky road and honey lavender. While I love lavender, I really enjoyed that this one was subtle yet flavorful. It wasn't strong. The rocky road was also delicious. I really appreciate the portion sizes here too, compared to a lot of other gelato/ice cream places.

According to their website USA Today once named them one of the top 10 candy shops in the US. How cool is that?! I was in town with friends and hadn't visited Old Town Columbia since I was a kid. The one thing I remembered was the candy, so this was an obvious stop to make during my trip. The shop is pretty small and I heard them yell several times that only 10 people were allowed in at a time. There is a sign on the door, but it's easy to miss. I think they had three staff members working and even with only 10 people allowed in at once, they were busy bees. It was a little confusing whether or not we needed to get in a line or if it was simply a free for all, but we figured it out. My friends and I tried the chocolate covered honeycomb, which was our favorite. We also got dark chocolate almond bark, peanut brittle, and your typical pecan turtles. All were delicious and we snacked on it all day long. The prices were a bit high from what I'm used to at home, but I'm not sure how they compare to other candy shops in California. If you happen to be in town, you have to give them a visit! They have everything from truffles and chocolate covered fruit to licorice, hard candies, giant jawbreakers, and gummies/jelly sweets. They are bound to have something to cure your sweet tooth.

The inside was lined on both sides with some many different candies - I was almost overwhelmed! They had fresh fruit jellies, dark and milk chocolates, rock candy, marshmallows - I could go on and on! We took home the jellies, dark chocolate almond bark, a discounted Valentine's Day chocolate heart box, handmade marshmallows and a couple of other goodies! Staff were friendly! The inside had an old western feel to it and they even had old school cash registers. It's a great place to pick up a gift and they have different holiday options - I even saw St. Patrick's Day candy out already! Check them out!

The service is friendly and the drinks and snacks are reasonably priced. But watch out for the sweets - some of them are priced a bit on the exorbitant side. We paid $4.49 each for marshmallow and nut truffles! They were delicious though, so I guess you get what you pay for!!
