One of my favorite restaurants in town hands down. I like the location because it is downtown and on the second floor. The space is a good size with plenty of seating including bar seating. It is so easy to make a reservation online if you do not want to wait but the wait has never been too long for me. I love how they do happy hour everyday with a lot of goood options to choose from! They also have other specials every night whether it is food or drinks my favorite night is 2 for $20 sushi rolls. The food is always amazing!! Everything I have eaten I loved, the drinks are good, and I love how they have hot tea. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I first visited in 2006, when I was still unsure about whether or not I even liked sushi. I played it safe and ordered edamame. Eventually, I fell in love with the Shelly roll and the Firecracker shrimp. The ambiance is very welcoming and perfect for a first date (or, if you're like me, a solo trip). The Happy Hour specials are very economical, and they have fun little things each night (such as 80's night, which is my usual go-to). If it wasn't for Yelp, we would probably always walk by it since it's on the second floor by Husk. A really sweet spot and it gets super busy on a weekend night so prepare depending on what time you show up. We got there around 6 but by 8pm, the line was out the door and down the stairs. The menu is A LOT. It's a lot to take in but it's worth the look and if I wasn't craving sushi so bad, I would have done a noodle or rice bowl because it looked BOMB when I saw it. We started off with some happy hour edamame, I ordered a Philly roll with cucumber instead of avocado (not a huge fan of this combo) and a vegetarian roll Green Machine - holy crap it's delish. Decided to try this restaurant again, have not been there in a few years ( disappointed last time we were here) . Made a reservation for 6pm , and the place was busy already . Took our seats at the sushi bar, it's alway fun to sit there and watch the rolling take place. Water was poured and menus arrived. There were three rollers , and they were busy rolling. The food looked fresh and awesome. We decided to start with Firecracker Shrimp, one of our favorites. Then started to look at our dinner options. The shrimp arrived hot and perfect . It had just the right spice, flavorful and just wonderful. We went on to order , Stir Fried Rice as a side. Then a Shelly Roll, Genroll and Spicy Tuna. And we continued to watch the show by the rollers. The restaurant was filling up , almost not a seat left open. The rolls arrived and were spectacular, the fish fresh, flavorful , perfectly spiced and the rice on the rolls was not thick , done very nicely . The wait for 3 sushi rolls was 55 minutes from when we ordered. 55 minutes for RAW fish. Wanted to order more food but refrained from due to the wait. Used to really like this place but quality of the food has really declined from what it was a few years ago. Ambiance is still fun, our waitress was nice, but most of the food was just not good. The firecracker shrimp was good- everything else was mediocre at best and the 2 sushi rolls were terrible. Chicken & pork dumplings recipe must have changed because it had hardly any flavor compared to the complex tangy beefy broth they used to come in. The tofu in the miso soup tasted off, and the sushi (gigantic roll & Roy G Biv) were honestly the worst sushi we have ever had. Extremely fishy- like how fish gets when it's not fresh, we each had one or two pieces and couldn't continue eating. Again- service was good aside from the hostess timeframe quote being completely wrong, it's an upbeat environment, I adore the ambiance- the food was just awful. Yosake is five stars from the atmosphere to the service and of course the food & drinks! We made a reservation for 8:00 last night but they were able to seat us at 7:30 which was nice! The hostess was very sweet & accommodating. My only complaint is how small some of the tables are & how close you are to your neighbors. Regardless, some restaurants are like that so it's all good. We started with my favorite sake, Zipang. I was pleasantly surprised that they had this. Additionally, the bottle was $2 off. We then ordered some delicious cocktails that were made perfectly: Oui Ou & Hello Kitty. Both amazing! Our dishes included: Edamame, Pimp Shrimp sushi roll, and the grilled teriyaki chicken that was served with fried rice and fresh vegetables. The pimp shrimp was one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had, so fresh and flavorful! The grilled teriyaki dish was also great. Lastly, our waitress was awesome! The ambiance is great (3rd floor) nice hip vibe with couches to lounge in. Also some nice house music in the background. We were there for Happy Hour. Started out with the fried cauliflower which I thought was strong on the salt and cumin. The bang bang shrimp with was fine and the edamame. Then on to the rolls spicy tuna, crunchy spicy tuna and crunchy spicy salmon. The presentation was nice on a single sharing plate but was disappointed in the flavor. Or I should say lack of flavor. I tried all firstly without any soy or wasabi. Nothing that teased my mouth. Just rice , fish and seaweed. But no taste! The staff was super friendly and attentive and a special shout out to Sam . We ate the pimp shrimp, fire in the mountain, spicy generoll, & fried rice. It was all fine & good, but not top 5 sushi for me. The broth was spicy but very bland. It tasted like water. The firecracker shrimp and ginormous roll were the only foods that were worth taking a second bite of. The best food was the side salad that comes with a carrot ginger dressing. Been coming here for years on and off amazing food amazing staff pricing is very inline with what they are providing. However, the hostess are atrociously rude. I have tried to eat here 3 times in the last 2 months. The dining room is half empty and they are for some reason always unable to seat me and the 1-3 others that have been with me. If they have been able to seat me they mention some outrageous waiting time usually over a hour. One of these times I went both bars were almost empty and only 3 tables had people at them. Was told there was a 45 minute wait. Would like to continue to go here but....the hostess need to realize this is not a VIP area at a Miami club it's a casual Sushi spot read more

Ok - been here a million times. Sushi definitely good, nothing crazy spectacular. Tried some noodles this time, wasn't thrilled for the price. I think they have a great happy hour, during which it's definitely worth it and a great deal. Highly recommend the firecracker shrimp. Would have been 4 stars but it was frustrating to be told that there was an "at least 1 hour" wait, when at least couple tables were empty. OK - I get it, maybe someone had reservations or something. We sit at the sushi bar and there was an empty table the entire time we were eating all the way until we left. This has become a pet peeve with restaurants getting into this habit of just throwing some arbitrary time out there. I was honestly a little underwhelmed by the food here. First of all we reserved a table at the dining room section and they sat us on a couch which we specifically did not want. Secondly I was a little annoyed when I couldn't get my Alaskan roll to have raw salmon instead of cooked. Traditionally an Alaskan roll is raw salmon and I know at most places if it's not you can ask to get it raw. Because we ate during happy hour they said they could not do this. In fact the waiter said "absolutely not!" I would've happily paid a couple extra dollars to have this done but it was made clear that I could not have this. Well after 30 minutes later when the food finally came my Alaskan roll had smoked salmon in it, I personally do not like the flavor of smoked salmon and I'm very confused why it wasn't on the menu like this. I also thought it was a little weird that when the check came the waiter handed it to me, as a female and said "ladies first" then looked at my date and said "I gotchu man". Now I'm all for gender equality but you could've just put it in the middle of the two of us and that would have been more polite. Just wanted to add that the woman who served us our appetizer also gave us the firecracker shrimp app even though we didn't order it and it's flavor was amazing so I do recommend to order this! read more

Yosake is great for a big group, or a fun night out. If you're looking for amazing sushi, this might not be the place. I felt like there were a lot of rolls with cream cheese, or things that were fried. Don't get me wrong, those things are always yummy, but just not as quality as other sushi places in town.
