Follow and trust your GPS! The sign for the Wild Kingdom is clear but the road is small as you drive towards the Park. Plenty of parking so don't worry about when you arrive. We bought our tickets online making it easy to enter the park. As you come up to the entrance, to the right are the rides, snack bar and restrooms. We grabbed a snack before heading in, but you can bring your lunch if you want. There is a pretty clear trail to follow. The butterfly exhibit was wonderful, our kids loved hours the butterflies were flying around freely. Bird exhibit was fun and watch out for the goats of you go into the fenced area to feed them. They will overwhelm you as they know you have the food. A fun experience, especially for the little ones. They've do have a lioness and a tiger. We liked looking at the Texas longhorns. Those horns were over six feet long. Interesting to see. They do have another snack bar inside the zoo area if you decide to take a break there. They had camel and pony rides which the kids loved. A nice day visit for the family.

Still an OUTSTANDING little zoo and amusement park! They let you bring food and water in, and that saves you a ton of money right there , and they're admission prices are already less than other bigger zoos. *U.S. VETERAN FRIENDLY. THANK YOU FOR THE SIGNIFICANT ENTRY-DISCOUNT!!! Due to this discount, we could once again go to the park. Its smaller than bigger zoos but has tons of different animals from all over the world. Earlier this year, my wife and 4 kids went to Franklin Park Zoo in Dorchester. They like York's way better. Said they couldn't get within 30 to 50' from the animals in Dorchester. But in York we could get withinb5' of several different animals. The kids also didn't think that they were gonna get caught in a street-gang's crossfire on the way in/out of Wild Kingdom... so that was definitely a plus! It was well worth the family-friendly and affordable zoo in York. Its low key and very very special. ( Lots of awesome amusement park rides for younger kids as well.)

Came here with our grandkids. A nice zoo but dated but a variety of animals and rides! Its some walking and off the beaten path. My favorites were the monkeys and tiger. A good little zoo in Maine for the amount if people density it serves in Maine.

This zoo has a variety of animals and insects. They offer mini pony rides and camel rides here. There is even a small amusement park in the front. Even though they had several animals, it was very hard to take photos of the animals since there were in double cages. They had a butterfly area as well, but there were not as many butterflies as I expected. (I'm used to Magic Wings in Deerfield). Decent place to go if you're in the area.

The place is run down, and the cages seem too small for the animals. Bring cash and quarters as all the feeding stations are cash only. We loved the parakeet exhibit and spent $10 on parakeet food. My son also loved the baby goats, but those are quarters only. Ride tokens were also cash only. Hmmmm

    A tiger

A number of the animal enclosures are way too small and the animals appear to be totally without stimulation or access to water. There is currently a 10 month tiger cub there (tigers in the wild are not separated from their mother until they are 2) that is alone and being kept in a gated in and very narrow enclosure. There is no stimulation or anything for it to play with so it keeps pacing and just pouncing at the gate. there is no grass and it's just gated it on all sides. An employee said that this tiger was "purchased" like any other "commodity" and is not a rescue. They also said that it was being kept in the small enclosure to acclimate it to the space but the enclosure was extremely small and it was totally alone and in bad condition. It was heart breaking to see. I hope the zoo will read this and improve the condition for this tiger. There were several other animals in small and sad enclosures but the tiger cub was the saddest. I won't be returning.

It is a great diversion for small children. I went with my seven-year-old daughter and she had a fantastic and amazing time! Yes, the place is not well-kept, the rides are in poor condition, the infrastructure is in terrible condition, and the animals are not kept according to modern standards. The clientele looks pretty rough, and I saw more people smoking today than I've seen smoking in probably the last two years. But if you look at it from the perspective of a small child, it is a great place. My daughter had the most amazing day! I doubt this will be here many more years, so if you have ever wanted to go, you should probably go now, because it is clearly on life-support.

Nice little zoo to visit with kids. Not too big and a decent selection of animals, including a tiger and lions. The parakeet feeding was super fun. Rides aren't really worth it unless you are looking to extend the day.

Knew you had to pay to get in and for the tokens, but I didn't expect basically no rides for kids over 5

Expect a day trip for 2 to be over $100 for tickets alone. Food and drink in the park is pricey, like you would expect for an amusement park. The great thing about Funtown is that you are fully able to bring in your own food. My family opted for the annual season pass, as we come multiple times a season. If you plan to attend more than once, I highly recommend going the pass route. It pays for itself after 2-3 trips. Does it need updating? Sure, but honestly, it's part of the charm. Go forth and have a good time!

We went on a Wednesday at the end of June and it was not crowded at all. My kids had a blast! Right when the park opened we headed to Excalibur and rode it about 4 times to start off the morning. Everyone was so excited to ride it that many times. It's a wooden roller coaster that is a lot of fun. I highly recommend it. We hit all the Funtown rides multiple times. They loved the bumper cars, the vintage car track, the wild mouse, thunder falls log flume (which gets a little bumpy, but it cools you down on that drop), Atmosphere (which is an indoor Sizzler type ride with music and animations, that is the weirdest thing I think I've even seen in my life), and especially Whispering Pines Haunted Hotel. That last one is a dark ride where you have to save people from ghosts. You get a laser type gun to shoot at the targets and keep your score. I'm not sure how accurate they really were, but it was fun none the less. After a pretty "meh" lunch, we headed to the Splashtown area. They have a few water slides, a pool for the kids to swim in, and a little splash pad. The water slides were fun, until I bonked my head goind down Amphitrite's Challenge. You go down head first on a mat and for some reason on one of the turns my head didn't follow along. It hurt pretty bad, and I had one of the EMT's on staff help me out. He was very very nice and gave me an ice pack. I appreciated his kindness as I felt so silly after the event. Overall, we had a fun day exploring Funtown Splashtown USA. If you are looking for something to entertain the kiddos for the day, this is definitely a nice option.

My parents used to bring us all the time when we were young; I think because MWP really IS NOT a zoo (so don't come here with that expectation). It's more of a rehabilitation center or sanctuary than anything else, and I think my parents liked how educational, real, and local it felt. We came to see Maine's wildlife in their natural habitat recover from injury, or because they were formally raised in captivity by humans, or because they were orphaned for whatever reason. It's a safe place for ME's critters who can no longer survive in the wild. (PRO TIP: Ask the staff about the animals. They have a list of all their names and how long they've been residents; if you reeeeally pry, the staff also have favorites and it's fun to hear their stories about the animals' big personalities!) I've come back a few times as an adult, and I still appreciate it. It's a gentle, relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. I've seen bears, turtles, raccoons, deer, skunks, and - yes - even moose (though, again, set your expectations accordingly: they are notorious for NOT showing up for us spectators). I have, over the years, spent a stupid amount of money feeding the trout at the pond by the hatchery. There's a ton of information there about how Dry Mills is important to the preservation and continuation of our aquatic ecological balance (they release thousands and thousands of fish into the wild every year, it's incredible!). Maine Wildlife Park itself is worth the visit, but they also have events throughout their open season as well including archery classes, plant sales, fairy-themed days, and harvest parties (just check their website FMI).
