The atmosphere was exactly what you'd want from a traditional sports bar -- plenty of screens, cold beer flowing, and a lively crowd getting into the action. We ordered wings and beer, while we watched the game. The wings were noticeably tiny by American standards, but they were cooked really well.

We asked about to go and were told that we had to order off the regular menu. Ok, no problem but are the wings the same as the special wings of the day. We were informed they were. We said "good we like small ones!" We paid, received our bag and left. When we arrive back at our place we opened up our boxes. No celery included. Then there were the wings. They were almost the size of baby turkey wings and totally soggy. So much for excitement of 2 orders of hot wings that didn't happen. Service was good. The place had a good number of customers seeming to be very happy. Just not happy with my order as we were told it would be. Our fault for not opening the food containers before we left. Recommend one eat at the restaurant versus take away.

Being close to where I used to work, I'd frequent this place quite a bit, and before it was a PJs it was a mates fave city pub so we'd catch up over a few here from time to time. There's a pretty good mix of people in the street-level bar, and PJs have converted it into more of a sports bar so there are plenty of screens for the sports nuts to check out their favourite teams prospects. PJs typically have pretty good fare. In winter they have two absolute cracking dishes. The Guiness Pie with mushy peas, and their signature lamb shanks which is totally unctuous. Why such a modest score? Price kills the place. It's not one of the cheaper places to get a beer as someone incorrectly states in their tips, it's easily one of the most expensive places to get a beer. You're paying over the top prices for domestic tap beer. A cheap beer is $5 for a Coopers Pale Ale, which you can get on the same street about 200m up the road... Also... As much as I enjoy a good pokie section, this one ain't good. And by that I mean the clientelle. It brings in the undesireable types, and sours what is otherwise a sweet pub. The snug, the downstairs den, has a great looking bar, and "snug" seating, but it's kinda pointless down there. It doesn't feel snug, it feels stuffy and claustrophobic - and the bar has never been manned when I've been down there. Now, if they moved the pokies to the snug, and then opened up the entire bar at the street-level to include the room vacated by the pokie section, you'd have something. But why would they do that when they can get by with what they have.

Being in the city, it can get quite busy very quickly and is a decently sized basement multi-storied pub. TV screens are usually are usually playing Fox sports or something similar. I order the Parmy, just to be on the the safe side. I wasn't too game to try the Pie which is supposed to be one of the best (as judged by Irish people I work with) around. The food is carefully prepared and you can tell the produce is quality and they've cooked it properly which some pubs sometimes struggle to do consistently... The chips were the standout side, crisp and crunchy! Definitely will be trying the stew or pie, that is if I'm brave enough to.

Our entree was garlic bread which was buttery and obviously garlicky - a great start. Main consisted of lamb shoulder, chips and seasonal greens. The lamb was very tender and fell apart easily as we carved. The side of gravy added some nice depth of flavour to the dish. I really enjoyed the chips - they were light yet had a nice crunch that I love to see in my chips. Seasonal greens were as you'd expect from vegetables. A nice addition but nothing stand-out. Our dessert was a salted caramel chocolate tart with biscuit crumb, caramel popcorn pieces and popcorn ice cream. Such a fantastic end it had great texture from the crumb and popcorn and was overall a well constructed tart.

Swirl your drink thoughtfully while you can gaze out upon the great commercial precinct of our city and watch its native animals, with their purposeful stares and gabardine pelts, prowl along asphalt corridors of Sydney's concrete jungle. For something more demure and intimate, and all-together classy, retire to the function room further inside The Flynn, a wonderfully decorated private area home to a restaurant with an internationally-themed menu with a European flavour that aldo houses some killer specials, like Tuesday all-you-can-eat pizza for just 15 clams. I love when style is paired with affordability. Hey, look at that, I got all the way through this review without making one obvious Errol Flynn reference. And then ruined it by calling attention to the fact. Blast.

My preferred spot is in the windows, watching the peak of King Street crazy from a safe vantage-point while nestling a beer. The Bank is also famous for it's long-running Wednesday night Girl's night (for girls who like girls) and as I saw on the poster outside, they are kicking off Summer with a Drag Queen hosted "Sausage Fest". It was a Friday night, and the place wasn't too packed, it was calm and responsible - which wasn't what I thought it would be by the interior and exterior contemporary design - looked more publish, with a TAB & late night cosy couches. Maybe it was just the cold weather. The outside was where I spent the most of my time, and it was pleasant, and lively at times, and one of the biggest courtyards I've seen. Beware of the many smokers that use this area, on the flip side, it's smoker friendly. The drinks were well priced, and the specials were great, the bar tenders were very helpful in recommending some different drink inventions. Although the overall place missed a vibe I was used to, and it just wasn't the most interesting place to have a few drinks.

You can get a burger with fries ranging from cheeseburger, vegan burger, to fried chicken burger and a few others. The fit out is pretty cool, large outdoor area and chill vibe and staff. Food came out rather quick, I thought $10 was a great deal so I ordered a fried chicken burger and Bushwick burger. Bushwick burger is beef, cheese, onion, pickle, lettuce, tomato sauce, on an nyc style. Hold up, what's an NYC style bun? I've spent a lot of time in New York City and have never heard of such a thing...NYC style pizza sure. NYC style bun? This is some faux BS trying to win customers in an attempt to seem more authentic methinks... Anyway, the fried chicken burger was great, definitely up there with the best in Sydney, comparable to Mary's, Pub Life (prior to the new one,) and Pinbone. The Bushwick burger on the other hand was OK. It seriously just tasted like a Whopper from Hungry Jack's. Not a bad thing...but nothing special either, because if I wanted an imitation of something I would have just gone to the original. Will have to come back to try the cheeseburger. Chicken is 4.5/5 Bushwick is 3/5
