This year has been hurdle after hurdle, and after going from a staff of four to a staff of one, one employee has returned and I'm slowly digging myself out of the hole of these tasks," Along with note of intent to refund for my patience. September 3: Items arrived September 8: PayPal posts notice that money refunded So, as you see, bumped it up to 3 stars. Still not happy about missing that card for the event. Seems that during the pandemic, customer service with any internet order is 100% hit or 100% miss, not just here, but any internet order. Okay, I saw a road sign that literally said Tourist Trip Ahead. So of course I had to stop!…read more This one didn't disappoint because it was unique and did not take itself seriously. The shop is actually quite large with tons of fun and weird stuff. Signs, clothing and all types of collectibles. Outside, the entire surrounding area and lot is filled with something of an Upper Michigan Museum. One that totally makes fun of the "Yopper" life style. (A Yooper is someone that lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). I'll admit, some displays were kind of dumb and outdated, others I didn't even get...but I have to say it was far different than any gift shop I've ever been to. If you're in the U. P. (for whatever reason) and you have nothing to do, stop in. It's free, fun, and you probably have to pee anyway.

About 5 mins in shopping a man abruptly entered speaking loudly and reminiscing about the last nights drinking and questioned the young lady at the cash register about why she didn't call him and talking about how she missed out on a good time etc. Then the employee and the obnoxious man embraced. I found it completely uncomfortable and inappropriate. This has been one of my favorite places in the past. Unfortunately, this business lost over $200 today because of this. I won't be back.

The shop is full of charm and so many things you don't see anywhere else. I found the most beautiful kitchen towel with a Scandinavian design that I couldn't resist, plus a bag full of unique Finnish candies that became a hit at the reunion. The chicken pastie was packed with a lot of potato and some ground chicken in between. Should be called a potato pastie. It was quite dry. The bottom of the pastie is super thick and quite dense. I gutted my out. It's dry and has zero flavor. Should have gotten some hot sauce, would be better with sriracha even. The apple pasty tasted like an apple pie. Has good flavor. Bottom of the pastie once again is dense and heavy. The tops are flat and boring. Flaky would make it better. But then again pasties are supposed to be filling and hardy, not flavorful or delectable, or?

Unfortunately the pasties did not live up to the hype for us. The insides were a mixture of the chosen meat with carrots and diced potatoes, but it was extremely dry and flavorless. The outside pastry was also very bland and very dry. We had some hot sauce which helps to make it a little less dry, but even the flavor of the hot sauce wasn't enough to help it. The one saving grace was the apple pie pasty! That was at-least packed with nice warm apple pie filling although the outer pastry was just as dry as the meat pasties. Perhaps we got a bad batch, or maybe this is how they are supposed to taste, but unfortunately I don't see the hype of the pasties!

It's very well done. There's three sections in the store, as it has to expand within the historical building it occupies. The first section has the most variety as it sells small items like candles, dish cloths, lights, etc. The second section is clothing focused. The third and most personally interesting sells food. They have homemade fudge and turtle cookies, as well as candy station. There's a wall of jellies and jams, including UP favorites like thimbleberry jam. Located inside Palms Book State Park, this natural spring was one of the most unique and beautiful places we visited. The water is crystal clear all the way to the bottom, and you can easily see fish swimming below. You hop onto a self-operated raft that you pull across the water to the middle of the spring, where there's an opening in the center to look straight down. It gives you a perfect view of the vibrant underwater world -- it's honestly mesmerizing. It's a quick stop, but totally worth it. And the best part? It's dog-friendly! Definitely add this to your list if you're exploring the Upper Peninsula.

Clear blue water, bubbling sand, never ending springs, a tow boat, and lots of trout are the wonders to see. Everyone gets on the boat and someone (well a few people over the course of the trip) step up to the wheel to tow the boat across the water. The water is mesmerizing. I couldn't take my eyes off the water. Many people can fit on the boat so the wait is not too long. A day pass is $11. Definitely make this stop if you are in the area.
