There are some packaged quilt projects if you like that. Bolts of fabric with are coordinated with each other. Lots of batiks to choose from. All kinds of accessories like plastic quilt piece templates. They do hold classes in the "kitchen" area of the shop. The owner is very friendly and because she was holding "Christmas in July" my package was packed with two fat quarters of Christmas fabric and some Russell Stover Chocolates. I thought I would drive down the road a bit to check out this fabric store, sure that I might find some other fabric that I could have fun with. To be honest, I didn't think I would find much, as Jeri's Quilt Patch is the only fabric store for miles. I was pleasantly surprised when this house-turned-business space had walls and walls of fabric, quilting kits, accessories, tools, and examples. My cousin, a quilter, would have been in heaven. There were so many versatile examples which I appreciated, although I sew different projects. I also appreciated the fabric was often organized by "collections" and complimentary colors. The owner, I'm assuming Jeri, was very kind, helpful and efficient in her checkout process, even though it wasn't anything fancy. Not surprisingly, I walked out of there with more than I planned to and I enjoyed browsing everything. She also has a fun collection of decor and antiques upstairs. I was happy to support this small business and would recommend it for any crafter passing through this area - the locals clearly already know that it's a gem!

Cheesy, but my New Year Intention will be to revisit the yarn shop without the pressure of "this project needs this specific yarn!" hanging over my head. I was greeted immediately upon entry by two lovely folks. Sometimes in a craft shop - like a great bar - it's hard to know the employees from the comfortable regulars. The warm welcome was appreciated nonetheless. This is a quilt shop, which all of you sew-n-sews can enjoy. You have my respect, as I cannot even manage to replace a button without the fabric getting all bunchy. You crafty devils will appreciate the stock of fabrics and notions. It even got me thinking about lessons and classes. The yarn area is small but BOY! It's pretty and has a lot of my favorite brands. Sadly I had a specific project in mind and could not get my brain to make the math happen for substitutions. I will come back, buy yarn 'just because' and maybe even buy some buttons (justification to cast on for a sweater, amiright?).

And not vintage as in "somebody's grandma's 70-year-old dress" - modern retro chic! Find bomber jackets, '50s style polka dot dresses, costume jewelry, Audrey Hepburn attire, and more. If I was in Marquette and needed a costume for a themed soiree or a quirky gift for an old soul, this would be my first stop!

The staff wears vintage pieces and there is one particular gentleman that should be the face of the business (you can see his pictures on the photo gallery). Now onto the actual merchandise: they have a mixture of old and new. The main theme is cloth a from the 50's and so on. They have men's clothes as well. In fact the men's clothes are great for summer vacation. You will definitely be the most dapper looking dude. For the ladies they have a much wider variety with the most beautiful dresses and tulle skirts. The dresses are mostly new vintage like pieces and they are gorgeous and will be perfect for cocktail dresses, weddings, and any other dress up event. A little pricey for my taste, but everything that I have gotten from there over the past couple years has lasted. Throughout the store they have home goods and some of them are in mint condition. They have a corner for vintage handbags and if you are looking for a unique piece you will find it here. Last trip I got the most beautiful pair of sunglasses and they were very affordable and well made. Their selection of sunglasses and old vintage frames is small but beautifully curated. Whoever is responsible for visual merchandising in this store should be so proud. Love shopping there. It's one of my favorite things to do while in the U.P.
