The outside pastry was also very bland and very dry. We had some hot sauce which helps to make it a little less dry, but even the flavor of the hot sauce wasn't enough to help it. The one saving grace was the apple pie pasty! That was at-least packed with nice warm apple pie filling although the outer pastry was just as dry as the meat pasties. Perhaps we got a bad batch, or maybe this is how they are supposed to taste, but unfortunately I don't see the hype of the pasties!

When I first visited here about two years ago, the visitors building was under renovation and there…read morewas no way to visit. I'm glad to report that now it's fully finished! Inside there's a counter with maps and the NPS cancelation stamp, but not much else. You also have to pay the admission fee at the counter The ranger there is pretty friendly and I overheard her giving advice to other visitors. There's no gift shop or displays/exhibits yet, but I'm hoping they're added in the future. The restrooms are located outside across the path. There's plenty of bathroom stalls. There's also an informational board next to the bathrooms with information about the area and hiking conditions. The Munising Falls are about 800 feet from the visitor center. The main path is paved with some wooden bridge areas, but overall it's a smooth trail. There's a trail to the lower falls which takes you to the level of the plunge pool, but also stairs to the upper falls if you want to get another viewpoint. Make sure to bring bug repellent since there's plenty of mosquitoes around!
