Upon being seated, guests are presented with a simple yet genuinely authentic menu. The flavors remain consistently exceptional, a quality I believe is essential for any restaurant hoping to thrive in Alexandria. Caro's is far from the typical, run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant where meals are hastily assembled from a hot line and served with an inflated price tag. Instead, each dish reflects care, authenticity, and craftsmanship. Complementing the cuisine, the staff and atmosphere provide an added layer of warmth and charm. The establishment also features a small shop offering imported goods, further enhancing the overall experience. I strive for honesty and objectivity in my reviews, and I rarely award a full five stars. However, Caro's is an exception. This assessment is not based on a handful of visits but on years of consistently outstanding dining experiences. If I were to choose a single word to describe Caro's, it would be authentic. This restaurant exemplifies what true, heartfelt Mexican cuisine should be.

The street tacos --though the burritos and fajitas never disappoint either. What makes Caro's stand out is more than the food--it's the people. The owner and staff always greet me and make every visit feel like home. If you haven't tried Caro's yet, take it from me--you should! #NicksPick #CenLaEats #SupportLocal #AuthenticMexican #AlexandriaLAe

Natchitoches, LA was the next town coming up and I started checking Yelp reviews in the area. El Patio, which had solid reviews, looked like an easy off and on from the Interstate plus there was a gas station in close proximity. It was perfect place for us to stop, stretch our legs and get a bite to eat. When we walked in the decor of the restaurant was a feast for the eyes. The chairs and tables were painted with bright colors and designs. It looks like Fiesta Time all the time. Victor, our server greeted us and took our drink orders. No margaritas, but a big glass of unsweetened iced tea was in order. A hot basket of chips and a small carafe of salsa was dropped off at our table. The salsa was good, but too mild for our tastes. The tortilla chips were very good. I decided on the #1 Lunch Special which included a Chille Relleno and a crispy beef taco. Both platters were accompanied with refried beans and rice. Wow, what a quick turnaround from the kitchen! Victor was back in a flash with our lunch entrees. Both of our lunch entrees were very enjoyable and spiced nicely. We both had happy tummies by the time we left El Patio and headed towards New Orleans. Next time we're in the area, we'll make a point of stopping in and try something new on the menu.

Their menu is pretty extensive. Couldn't find the combo plate I wanted so one of the servers assisted me with ordering. Ample parking in front. Very reasonably priced. I don't typically get dessert but he talked me into getting the sopapilla..it was delightful.

I know there isn't much to eat in Winnfield so people think this place taste good. No! No it…read moredoesn't! It is horrible Tex-Mex. I live in Texas and I know good Tex-Mex and this isn't it. I have eating Mexican cuisine in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Tijuana, Juarez, Nuevo Laredo each place different and some lean more Tex-Mex while others give you authentic Mexican flare. I don't know what this place is but it isn't good. The saving grace is the service. Everything else is a horrible we are going to con these people into thinking this food is good. Should have just went to the local Walmart and made it myself. The beans were horrible. I love a good bean I don't know what that was. To the people in Winnfield I hope one day you get to experience real Tex-Mex or authentic Mexican cuisine.

I ordered the Puffy Tacos thinking the tacos would be normal taco shells that were a little puffy. Nope! They looked like miniature taco salad bowls! I ordered mine to have shredded chicken and they include lettuce, tomato and cheese. I also asked to have jalapeño added, then I poured some of the salsa from the complimentary salsa and chips over the tops. They were quite tasty! Then came the fun part... the birthday celebration with the birthday sopapilla (fried quesadilla with chocolate sauce and whipped cream on top), and ceremonial sombrero. Of course, if you're lucky, there's the ceremonial spoon full of whipped cream that is supposed to go in the mouth but usually ends everywhere else! A good time was had by all and most of the credit goes to the fine service provided by the friendly staff. The servers took excellent care of us.
