Went to the restaurant for Sunday lunch so of course it was busy and full of the church crowd. Was brought out stale chips and asked for some new ones and were immediately brought out burnt ones. I ordered the carne asada. The steak was chewy and overcooked, the nopales were burnt and everything was oddly wet. Almost as if they boiled the steak, idk, it was weird. My fiance ordered tamales that had a hair in them and tasted bitter. My Diet Coke and her michelada were delicious though. The waiter Jake was good and was attentive to our table. Friendly staff, great sweet tea, food was great, we had no complaints. Plenty parking and they even have a drive thru window.

This was my second time there. My food was delicious, my margarita was very tasty, it was buy one get one night, our waiter was so nice and helpful, and they didn't even mind when we sat a little longer because there was a rain storm happening. My family's favorite place to eat! I've tried Mexican food from numerous restaurants and LaCabana is by far the best. All items are made to order---not pre-assembled! The atmosphere is wonderful. I love when they have live performers. The staff is wonderful and very attentive. I've watched one waiter serve a table of 16 and still waited on 2 other tables and never missed a beat. Great restaurant in Jena! The food is delicious, the servers are very nice, and the portions are enormous. I came here for lunch w/ a coworker and we ordered the fajitas + the street tacos. Both were delicious, and we were barely able to make a dent into the meal before feeling happily stuffed. You really get your bang for buck here. Well, looks like my friend made a great suggestion so we went to have Mexican food. The beef fajita lunch special at $10 was superb, and very filling, the salsa was on point, and the chips were hot and tasty. I will definitely return, and next time I'll take pictures. Good, tasty Mexican food very reasonably priced along with complimentary warm chips and tangy salsa, friendly top notch service and a loaded daily lunch menu that rings up most items under six dollars. The La Cabana has a new location and let me just say that it is a massive improvement. Actually it is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to and I have been all over the state. This was the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. The family ordered their food, my daughter got chicken nuggets and I got a quesadilla. When the food came out her chicken nuggets were the soy sponge nuggets, not chicken, she would even eat them. I didn't get my food until after everyone was done eating and it was cold even though I was told it was hot. When I asked for a fresh quesadilla she took it back and microwaved it. When we complained they just said "huh, have a good night". They will not get repeat business from us. read more
