This was a really amazing experience. The staff here were so attentive and friendly. The food was also extremely fresh. The presentation for each dish was amazing! Not everything was exactly my thing but you could tell all the ingredients were high quality. It was also very clean inside the restaurant and bathroom! It's definitely pricey but if you're visiting or celebrating something this is definitely a nice spot to do so.

Excellent food, very intimate experience and great service. There were a lot of courses and they were actually quite filling. A superb place to visit for a sushi/Japanese food enthusiast.

This was our first time here and what can we say other than wow! Everything was phenomenal, from the courses, to the staff Mogi and Haisu, to the drinks, and the ambiance. We couldn't be more pleased on the entire experience and hopefully will be back again (soon)! And compliments to the chef!!

Beautiful dining experience. On par with kaiseki we've had in Kyoto. Wonderful, friendly staff and an overall indulgent experience.

Amazing food, amazing service. Our family lived in Asia for 17 years. Whenever we are craving a really authentic, exquisite Japanese meal, Yoichi's always delivers. Such a gem to have a restaurant of this quality in Santa Barbara.

The food was great, service was on point. The ambiance is electrifying. I liked what I ordered so much.....I had to order it again.

I had a wonderful dinner at Yoichi's. I am usually a more flavor, more spice type of person. Yet, I was able to thoroughly enjoy all the delicate flavors, as they were presented elegantly in very thoughtful ways. The meal was comforting, fun, and unique. Highly recommend!

Best omakase experience due to the variety of dishes, the quality of ingredients, service was spectacular, and we left feeling very full!

An incredible experience worth every dime! I'd go every day if it weren't so indulgently filling. I struggled to have most of each my eight courses, but the quality and flavor of each item was so fresh and perfect I couldn't resist. We had excellent service and really enjoyed the lovely, cozy dining room. All items were explained to us at each course and the servers were very approachable and knowledgeable. I can't wait for their new menu to come out in the new season!

The food was incredible. I went back in August 2025 and it was one of, if not the, best dining experience I've had in my 29 years of life. Our waitress was beautifully knowledgeable and equipped with an answer to every question we had.

Courses included

The 8-course meal we had was absolutely incredible. Food was presented and explained by the most friendly waitstaff, making the experience unlike the overly precious prix fixe meals we have had in other restaurants. Standout items for me included ika nigiri which was so uniquely creamy, a swoon-worthy corn bechamel atop sea bass, baby octopus with seaweed and vinegar, but everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Unfortunately I forgot to photograph several of the courses. We will definitely come back.

Yoichi's is super special! The service and food are amazing. The best kept secret restaurant in Santa Barbara. A must for all Japanese food lovers!

(Overall: 89% | B) - Overall, this $150/pp Kaieski experience was definitely a worthwhile first experience for me. I love the atmosphere in that its very cute and upscale, and most of the food was natural and very upliftingly tasty. The service was pretty nice for the most part, although I was actually pretty bummed when they neglected to ask if it was a special occasion, unlike the rest of the tables, because it was indeed a special occasion. (Zensai Appetizers: 97.5% | A) - The first course consisted of an assortment of appetizers including washugyu beef, miso squid, yuba tofu, and pickled root vegetables. The washugyu was intensely marinated in a soy and pepper-forward marinade that started the meal on a high bar. The squid paired with a sweet miso that highlighted tenderness and pureness of Japanese flavor. The tofu was silky smooth and held texture which was pleasant to eat as sashimi. Finally, the pickled daikon and carrot is always a favorite of mine and helped clear the palette between appetizers! (Owan: 92.5% | A) - The second course is a soup course, featuring a clear broth containing a large sweet fish cake full of fresh crab. The dish looks very majestic with natural colors derived from the pumpkin and spinach. Personally though, despite the high quality ingredients, I do not find that fish cake is a very good way to highlight the ingredients as it hides the beauty of the crab. (Mukouzuke: 102.5% | A+) - Course three is the sashimi cours! The selection I had included fresh hokkaido uni that highlights the sweetness of the sea. Not expecting anything less, the hamachi belly, maguro, and otoro were all cream of the crop, and expressed the luscious butteriness in highly desired sashimi. The red snapper was also fresh and delightful with the skin on, and all of the freshly grated wasabi root in abundance added a fantastic zing to lift this set. Finally, I felt that the ume was a great palette ender for this set of fish! To complement this meal, we got this sweet sparkling yuzu wine that was low in alcohol content and extremely pleasant to drink! (Mushimono: 97.5% | A) - The steamed dish is an egg custard with eel and mushrooms, topped with an abundance of ikura. The salmon roe is a magical addition to the custard that adds sweetness and an umami burst, as well as a beautiful presentational feel! I love the mild yet soothing flavors. (Yakimono: 105% | A+) - The grilled dish consists of a miso marinated Chilean sea bass served on a bed of scallion puree and topped with trumpet mushrooms and a spoon of caviar. The sweet miso marinated for the sea bass is endearing and adds fantastic flavor to carry the dish. The pairing of the scallion puree is smart in that it adds fragrance to complement the earthiness of the shrooms. Finally, the caviar and edible flower really elevates the presentation to the next level. (Shiizakana: 70% | C) - This simmered dish involves sea bream, shrimp, mushroom, and chive? in a sweet dashi-like broth. I love the natural colors and simplicity of the presentation, but unfortunately found the broth to be a bit too sweet and the fish to be a bit too dry. (Shokuji: 97.5% | A) - The sushi course contained three pieces: hokkaido scallop, sweet shrimp, and mackerel with a generous serving of fresh wasabi root to give the sushi a zingy sweet kick. The scallop was naturally sweet and very silky. The sweet shrimp was tender and bursting with sweet freshness from the sea. Finally, the saba was flavored well and incredibly tender. I loved this pairing of sushi to highlight the best of what Japanese cuisine has to offer. (Kanmi: 67.5% | D) - The dessert course featured a red bean and orange jelly, which I personally found strange as the tangerine had a stark contrast to the red bean in flavor and texture that was quite jarring. The matcha jello had better flavor, but similarly had unappealingly coarse texture.

They brough menus promtly and shortly after offered us water. We mainly order nigiri, but ended up ordering other things as well. The food: Fluke' n crab was delicious. I loved how they added fresh jalapeño and finely sliced chili. The seafood paradise was a salad with a variety of sashimi from shrimp, jellyfish, salmon, yellow tail, etc. Think rainbow roll but as a salad. I appreciate them for using nice sized pieces instead of thinly sliced like a lot of other places. The jalapeno hamachi roll was ok. I wish it had more heat or some fresh sliced habeneros with it. I know not everyone can handle spicy but the roll didnt have any kick to it at all. When we asked where the habenero was, the waiter knew we wanted some heat and offered to bring us their house made siracha. The arigato roll was ok. I couldnt taste the smoked salmon but the wife could. I tasted more mayonnaise. But when I popped the salmon out, I could taste the smoked flavor. I do want to note I have lazy taste buds. The sea eel goes to Hollywood reminded me of a California roll but with sea eel and had a sweetness to it. The snake roll had a great presentation and tasted good. I liked how it wasn't super sweet. Overall I enjoyed this place.

We booked a reservation for my birthday, but it wasn't too busy on a Wednesday night. The specials are listed both inside and outside the restaurant, and I definitely recommend ordering from there over the standard menu - not because anything was wrong with the standard, but everything from the specials was top tier. From the specials menu, we had the Toro Tartar with Uni as a starter, then the CA King Salmon and Anago (sea eel) nigiri. Everything was so fresh, rice was perfect with the nigiri, and the Anago melts in your mouth (if you like unagi, this is its hot cousin). We also had the sake sampler to share, the unagi avocado roll, and Three Amigos roll. Of the three sakes, I really liked the Akitabare "Daiginjo" for its refreshing aftertaste, while my partner's favorite was the Oka. We both liked the "Junmai" Nine-Headed Dragon sake for its sweeter aftertaste. Definitely go to this little hole in the wall - this is where the best sushi is at by far in Santa Barbara proper.

There's a parking garage a short walk away, along with street parking nearby, so parking wasn't too difficult. We ordered the Crispy Rice Salad, Chicken Satay, and Nasi Goreng Jawa to start, then added the Larb Gai afterward. Honestly, our original three dishes would have been plenty for three people, and adding the fourth ended up being too much food. The Crispy Rice Salad was BY FAR the star of the meal and absolutely lived up to the hype. It was so refreshing, flavorful, and easily one of the best crispy rice salads I've had. It was also the one dish from our meal that felt truly memorable. The Chicken Satay had a really good sauce, although the chicken itself leaned a little dry. The Nasi Goreng Jawa was good too, but tasted like a fairly standard fried rice to me and didn't stand out much. The Larb Gai was refreshing, but after having the Crispy Rice Salad, it felt like a much less memorable version of those same bright flavors. I honestly found myself wishing we had just ordered another Crispy Rice Salad instead. The staff was friendly, although service was a little inattentive at times and it could be difficult to get someone's attention. There was also a small mix-up at the end where I was handed the wrong physical receipt. The amount on the actual payment terminal was correct, but the receipt itself wasn't ours and the mistake hadn't been noticed before it was handed to me. They also have a gender-neutral bathroom, which was pretty clean during our visit. One random thing to watch out for is the sink because the water comes out surprisingly strong, so turn the nozzle on slowly! Overall, the food was good, but the Crispy Rice Salad was on another level compared to everything else we ordered. I'd definitely come back for that alone and would be interested in exploring some other dishes on the menu next time.

Have respect for the food and the culture and make sure all of your wait staff knows how to pronounce the names of the dishes properly, especially at such a high end joint. Outside of the faux pas mentioner above, the wait staff was very attentive and good. The prices are high for how much food you get, but for the ambiance and location I'm not surprised. I probably would've given it a solid 3 stars if not for the initial complaint. It is a little crazy that this place is bib gormond rated, I think that shows how much Michelin values style over substance.
