Well stocked campstore, lots of games and things for kids to do outdoors or borrow a game from the desk for your campsite, plenty of safe space for kids to ride bikes and explore. Nice shower house. We where promised a site until mid October come to find out they over booked the site we where on and moved us to the bowels of the campground right beside a very busy bridge over pass it was so loud my dog would shake. We decided to pull out due to many things at the end of the day they tried to price gouge us at the end with about 35 days left. When I told him I was leaving his comment was oh is the price to high and then he went on to say in front of his mother in law that I look like I have money. We enjoyed the restaurant that was there but they also bailed out. I would not recommend this campground to anyone we miss the old owners.

This review is on the kayak rentals. The staff is great. No, make that fantastic. From reservation to drop off you will experience nothing but pleasurable and experienced people. Call to make a reservation. Get there 1/2 hr before the van leaves to drop you off. It leaves every hour. It was my fist time kayaking (or being in any non motor boat for that matter) and I brought my 6 and 7 year olds and my husband with me. We chose tandem kayaks. $65 each kayak and includes life jackets and the van ride upstream. Parent in the back, little one in the front. My little one did not want an oar and without a partner it is a little difficult to navigate the parts with the stronger currents...my kayak kept going down stream backwards but this was a great learning experience because I very quickly, in 15 minutes, figured out how to use that paddle to steer and keep it straight. So even if you've never paddled a boat before and even if you have a little one with you...you can do this! We didn't want it to end. We stopped at a tiny island for a picnic. The scenery is beautiful and it is quite along the river. We did the 4 mile route but next time we'd do the 10 mile route. I think it took 1 1/2hr even with the short picnic break.

Even when you first meet her it's like visiting an old friend. My husband and I came last year in October and stayed here for an anniversary trip. We stayed at Ramblewood Cabins and we're extremely happy that we chose them. We met the owner and his niece that works there and they were the nicest people. They answered all our questions, and we had many because this was our first time staying in a cabin and our first time in that area. They were very helpful and happy to answer the questions. We stayed in Red Spruce 10 and loved that it was away from everybody else, but their cabins at the lake looked beautiful too. If your headed up to Pittsburgh, NH I would highly recommend staying at Ramblewood!

The site is clean, well-maintained and above all quiet and peaceful. The pool is just right - as are the outdoor showers and bath house. We're booked for next year and will share more photos. We have a Roadtrek Van and also set up a screen house (we call it our living room). Previously we had fires at night but it was kinda warm so we didn't indulge. Another favorite thing to do is to take our morning coffee (or our eventing cocktail) and sit on the chairs overlooking the ocean. If peaceful wooded experiences are for you, this is a great deal. Bonus in that it is close to Rockland and even Camden for even more fun.

However it's been sold out to a corporation and as it's typical they are only after the $$$. You can not pre book for the following year, and the have a season camp manager, who although very nice has no answers to anything other than call the 1-800 number. We met many ppl over the week we were here and most of them repeat travelers who agree this may be their last year due mainly to the attitude and corporate hospitality, aka none. It's a shame, this was a nice family feel and accommodating camp ground. Our family have been coming here for three generations. The campground itself is pretty much unchangeable, the amenities could be upgraded and spruced up, but we come for the feel of the grounds. The cold corporate feel it's already having is making us think twice sadly.
