They have a great selection, and the rental staff has also been completely candid about houses we consider renting. They have always taken care of any problems that have come up, from loss of hot water to teaching us how to run the electronics! Now that this has been sold to new owners (Modern America) and they have brought in a new manager Christy Smith, it is a joke. Christy has ruined so many things here & is very unprofessional. She does not talk to customers about issues when confronted, instead she slams the door in their face and swears at them while flipping them off. The prices have gone up and no work has been put in to the campground. The grass was above our ankles and the sewer lines were backed up so our tanks barely drained at the full hookups. Bathrooms were disgusting. We cancelled the rest of our planned trips that we had booked here for the season and will not be back. Over 60 seasonal customers are pulling out and not coming back next year either. Save yourself and book somewhere else.

WOW. What an…read moreabsolutely lovely experience we had at Highland Heath House. We emailed to see if they had an availability for an overnight stay on super short notice. We heard back from Nancy right away, and booked something immediately. She let us know that we would have to show proof of vaccination upon arrival, and we SO appreciated the upfront conversation about their comfort and expectations during the pandemic. It set our minds at ease immediately, as did getting a confirmation email about our booking. The beautiful log cabin home sits on a hill overlooking the eastern shore of Rangeley Lake so expect absolutely stunning views of water and mountains, the call of loons early in the AM, and deer frolicking in the field in front of your picture window. It's about as Maine as you can get. The amenities were outstanding: comfortable rooms with fireplaces and enormous rain showers, an all day coffee/beverage station, a lovely interior (when we came, Nancy had decorated for autumn with faux foliage and pumpkin decor), and a British style pub in the basement. Breakfast was served at a reasonable time AND it was tremendously filling (and thoughtfully prepared given our dietary restrictions). Even though it was cold, we were encouraged to take our coffees outside to enjoy unhurried on their deck. Nancy is a gracious host, incredibly warm and welcoming. We immediately fell in love with her special space in the western mountains of Maine, and are already planning our return! Perfect for a little getaway/staycation (and loads of great hiking/scenic vistas nearby).

I was stoked to find a place that was available for a holiday weekend and wasn't super overpriced. I outreached the owner via their contact button and got a quick response and booked the site. When we arrived we were shocked that our site was not cleared (full of weeds, tall grass and even some trash. We were on a site that was right on top of another site with an ugly old camper on it (looked haunted and abandoned). The site was the dumpiest camp site I've stayed on, and I've stayed on thousands of campsites. I feel bad writing a harsh review because the owner seemed to be super friendly. There was one bathhouse which were the only facilities in the campground. I didn't use the showers because those and the bathrooms seemed grungy. It's a great location and pretty easy to locate but I would recommend them cleaning up the sites and maybe updating a few things. The sites were too close together for my taste and again, the trash on our site was really off putting. I wouldn't go back.

For an RV & tent site it was not overcrowded. Pond for swimming and plenty of places for kids to run around. Kingfield also has a very nice grocery store about 3 miles away and a burrito stand that puts Chipolte to shame. The gaming and laundry area does have a 1970s feel and everything seems old and tired, but after 2 weeks of campsites this was one of the best because of so many things to do.
