I've been coming here for YEARS but I'm just getting around to writing this review. I have been attending these classes now over 4 years and I love the community and how everyone is welcomed. Classes are held 7 days a week Mon.- Sun. 11am-12pm and a few months out of the year they also offer classes Mon.-Fri. 6pm-7pm (check the socials for that). Yoga is located on the bluff. It's outdoors off Ocean Blvd, parking can be a hassle sometimes since it's such a busy area but if you don't mind walking a bit there is plenty of residential parking all around. Yoga is located on the bluff over looking the water, it's beautiful on sunny days and nights are perfect for sunset views. It's a donation based service, so feel free to donate whatever your heart or wallet desires. Donations in cash are always welcomed... that's how they support the business but the instructors always mention they are also open to other donations like things people have to pay for that you might have at home like fresh fruits and vegetables that are home grown... I love that concept. Yoga instructors vary depending on the day of the week but I will say that they are all Amazing in different ways. Each yoga instructor has a different style and that's what makes it beautiful, come see what fits your needs. I also wanted to mention that they have a location off Redondo called Yogalution Movement & Wellness. If you're ever in the area I would recommend you stop by and get your Zen on. I attended Yogalution for several years and completed their yoga teacher training, but I do not recommend this studio. My main concern is how teachers are treated. Even though the studio is donation-based, teachers are required to give a large portion of any donations they receive back to the owner. This includes offerings like free Yoga on the Bluff, which are presented as opportunities for teachers to earn income but are not truly free for them. I consider this exploitative of skilled teachers and inconsistent with yogic principles like aparigraha (non-greed). The yoga teacher training itself is heavily Bhakti-focused and can feel cult-like. The program moves quickly through queuing and poses--the very skills most students hope to learn--while placing heavy emphasis on adopting the owner's personal devotional approach rather than focusing on the core teaching skills most students seek. This attention is then used to pressure students into signing contracts to teach at the studio, meaning you pay to train and then pay again to teach. For me, it felt like a financial model built on taking advantage of students rather than supporting their growth. Because of this structure and approach, I can no longer in good conscience support this studio, despite the skill of the teachers themselves. read more

Great place to get started with yoga and be a part of the larger Long Beach community. The classes are for beginners, but all levels can add different modifications to get a great stretch in. Ed was my instructor the day that I attended and his style was mindful and soothing. I am not a big fan of Yin yoga (slower and longer holds) but it still felt great to perform yoga outside, with the ocean right there, fresh air and a group of over 100 like-minded Long Beachians. Plus, you cannot beat the price (free, or a love donation of any amount). I wish there was a closer restroom. I went down to use the one on the beach right after class, but it was closed due to seasonal hours. I eventually found one open in Bixby Park, but I definitely recommend using the restroom before you arrive. I also recommend sunscreen, maybe a hat, an old blanket or towel to use as a barrier between your yoga mat and a possible soggy ground. I used an old mat, so I didn't care, but definitely had to clean it after. A hand towel or wet wipe also helps if your hands drift off your mat during practice. All in all, a great experience and just something you have to do at least once if you want to be a full Long Beach local! read more

Wonderful activity for the community uniting together on the bluff doing yoga next to beach. This is scheduled daily at 11am. Different instructors for each day with their own style practice. My favorite day to go is on Wednesday with instructor Sue. She is so amazing! Slow paced very inviting movements to bring you peace without any judgement. As Sue guides you, she speaks with enlightening words bringing positive energy to your soul. Soften my heart breathing out slowly to release tension. She works her magic! Sue always ends the session with a sound bath. Soothing relaxing your mind and body. Feels amazing! Class is about an hour long with tons of other people so can get packed. It's free but donations of any amount is kindly accepted. read more

Sunset yoga is back for the season! The park is so lively at 6pm- there was a free rock concert down at Alamitos beach for last nights practice. Love living within walking distance of this unique offering Long Beach has- so easy to run out my door and catch a stretch and calm my mind amongst folks with similar mindsets. Yoga with a view! The yoga class is donation based and super chill. Running late? No problem! There's no check in, attendance counting, or reservations needed. I love how easy it is. I went on a Thursday morning session (11 am) and found free parking in the neighborhood. It was a 5 minute walk away because of street sweeping but I didn't mind. I was fortunate to stretch in the shade. The class was easy to follow. Looking forward to more morning sessions in the future. read more

Yoga, on the bluff, 11am daily. There are also 6pm classes sometimes in the summer, although I'm not entirely clear of their schedule yet. These classes get big...like 50+ people, especially on weekends, it's easy north of a 100. If you want more peaceful vibes, be closer to the water than the road. Parking isn't too bad, but sometimes if you come on a weekend and drive, it does take a bit of circling. I'll bike on occasion to yoga on the bluff - such a cool community initiative that I'm SO grateful is a part of the LBC culture. This is a Sunday morning ritual for me a couple times a month. Dharma is legendary with her patience, humor, and reassurance. Most of the flows that I've performed on Sundays have been fairly accessible, even as a not-the-most-skillful of yogis. Getting there early makes parking less of a chore, but be prepared to take a little walk before and after your practice. There isn't a lot of shade (especially now since the city has fenced off the trees) so make sure to put on sunscreen, bring some water, and hope for a breeze during shavasana. I absolutely hate yoga... When I temporarily moved away from Long Beach, I tried yoga at the gym and I was miserable. That being said, there's something about Yoga on the Bluff that's special and makes me love it. I really think the thing I love most about Long Beach in general, is that it feels like a small town with big city benefits. There is such a strong sense of community here. Well yoga on the Bluff epitomizes this. There's so much positivity and it really feels like I'm participating in something really great with 40 of my closest friends that happen to be strangers. This free service provided to the community really motivates me to want to improve my practice, meditate more, and just live a healthier and more positive life. I'm lucky to live walking distance form here but if you do have to drive, come early as parking in this area can be super difficult to find. read more

This is probably one of my top reasons I love Beach. Where else can you find a place that provides a free yoga class?! You need to bring a mat or towel with you, especially during the winter or if it rained recently because the grass is usually still wet in the morning. I would advise you to wear sunscreen and at hat as well because there is absolutely no shade. Also, bring water and a towel, especially if you sweat pretty easily like myself haha. This class is definitely for beginners or if you just want to do something active that day. If you are looking for a pretty difficult higher level yoga class, do not come here. It is insane how many people actually come for every class time. I believe the times are at 11AM and during sunset and it lasts an hour. One con to this place is that parking is pretty difficult because the only free parking is street parking. There is a paid parking lot right next to this park, but you have to walk a pretty steep hill to get to the park. Sometimes the yoga instructor comes late, but she never shortens the time thankfully. read more

Great Yoga Class for beginners or experts~ Pretty easy to find since it's in a huge grassy area across cherry beach. My BF and I came 30 minutes late so we sat towards the back. The instructors voice was a bit hard to hear but the moves were easy to follow and pace was good. A little repetitive but great for any level and was super relaxing. Took one star off due to the poor covid precautions, space between each people was less than 6ft. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a free yoga class with syc beach views~ read more

This was a life changing thing for me. I've only ever enjoyed hot yoga but due to Covid in La county I needed to do some sort of exercise along with something for my anxiety and I came across yoga on the bluff. Dharma is amazing. I love her teachings and looked forward to them every weekend. Yoga here has helped me with my range of motion and mobility for crossfit. Such an exciting concept. The place has great views. You're practicing with nature and the sound of honking horns passing by. It just doesn't get any better than this. There was somewhere about 55-70 people practicing in the grass alongside us. The only downfall were the amount of ants that crawled onto my mat and decided to feast on me as a pre sunset snack. They were so annoying that I could not focus. I would still however give this place a 5 star review as the instructor was excellent and the sense of community. I really don't see how anyone could rate it any less - it's FREE. Yoga that's free? That's like finding a needle in a haystack... just saying. read more

Lovely experience last Sunday. Amazing teacher. She navigated a large group in a public park near a busy street. I was able to focus and the noise was soon an after thought. Greatly appreciated the view and being able to adopt poses to my ability. Great group of people. i moved my mat up closer and inadvertently dropped my cell phone. a very good hearted young lady noticed and returned it. Thank You ! I did wake up sore for a couple days totally worth it. going again this weekend. This is by donation which isn't exactly the sane as free. I over heard someone say....I love coming, i come all the time im a regular because its free. it is free and if you get something out if it a donation is appreciated left to ones discretion. i enjoy this immensely and therefore leave a donation. I never wanted to review this because I didn't want it to pack out. When I first discovered it years back, there were already 100 people in Warrior One, distracting my drive down Ocean. Then I became a Saturday regular. I'd do my two-six miles on the beach, then end up on the bluff for 11am yoga. I love the golk at Belmont for their free yoga too--but the sand breaks my concentration. Here, I am already at peace with the fabulous views and ocean breeze. I stay away from the dog-peed trees, and find my spot with my yoga mat, in wait. Somewhere near 10:55, a swarm of golk come from each direction to make a very large cordial group. Donations are appreciated, but not necessary. I give periodically. I think the city should also chip in from our taxes. I love the spirit of the Saturday morning instructir: "Yoga should be free so all can enjoy." I truly belive I'm now a yogini due to me being able to practice in this environment over time. But they also have bills to pay... I just found out they also do this Tuesday evenings in the summer, in conjunction with the Bixby Park Farmer's Market. read more

This is probably the easiest yoga class I've ever done, but you can't beat free yoga on the bluff overlooking the ocean. They offer classes every day at 11am, and seasonally at 6pm. I always go on Saturday or Sunday for Dharma Shakti's class. She gives spiritual and motivational speeches while she goes through the poses, and interjects jokes as well to keep things light. She brings a speaker system so that everyone can hear. The class is donation-based so if you are able to, it's nice to drop a few dollars into the bucket at the end of class. They don't pass it around, so you won't feel uncomfortable if you don't donate. If you come for more of a stretch and a peaceful morning to get in touch with yourself, you'll enjoy this experience perfect for all levels. read more

Just do it! There are very few other places you can go to participate in yoga for free in a gorgeous setting like this one on the corner or Ocean and Junipero provides. The beautifully-balanced staff of Yogalution is responsible for leading people from all walks of life stretch their bodies and relax their minds in the serene setting that, along with bring present in the moment, allows one to forget the bustling city setting that borders the bluff. Parking can be a little wack, especially on the weekend. I park at Cherry Park when I can. You may be able to find metered parking on Ocean Boulevard or residential spots if you search in the neighboring blocks. If you attend on a Saturday, you can support numerous small business owners of Long Beach via the Farmer's Market. I love Yoga on the Bluff. It's free, the instructors are amazing, and you get an amazing view by the ocean. What more can you ask for?! It's every day from 11 am to noon. And seasonally on weekdays there's an additional session from 6 pm to 7 pm. They rarely cancel the sessions and if they do, they announce it on their Instagram page (@yogalutiononthebluff) Dharma, the owner, leads the weekend classes. Mondays are good to go too. The instructors encourage you to go at your own pace and do whatever you can; no pressure. Everybody is welcome even beginners. Some people bring their dogs and/or their human babies. Some come a little late or leave early. Everything is seriously so chill. Yes there is street noise along Ocean which is a busy street and it can be hard to hear sometimes, but the instructors move around, bring microphones, and find ways around this. I don't really consider this a con and regardless they are providing an awesome service. You can park for free at Bixby Park or there's street parking. Just keep in mind the Farmer's Market (every Tues afternoon and Sat morning), and street sweeping (Mon/Tues/Weds/Thurs depending on what street you park). They also have indoor classes at their studio which is donation based. They host seminars and yoga retreats from time to time as well. read more

Every day, 7 days a week you will find Yoga on the Bluff overlooking the beautiful scenic ocean views. This is a chill space that draws a large crowd looking to get centered for the day. Each day there is a different instructor leading the class. I recommend showing up 10 to 15 minutes early to grab a nice spot closer to the yoga instructor. Because the further back you are, the harder it is to hear and you will have to rely on the visuals of what every body else is doing as a queue for the next yoga position. read more

I'm not a yoga person but doing this because its good for me and the session made me feel comfortable and at ease with myself around other people. Maybe this was a one time thing, but today was my first time attending (the 11 am class) and overall I would not recommend it to friends. Overall, I would say if you've went to a yoga class before and know anything about the poses/flow, then don't expect anything out of this experience. The instructor was nearly 15 minutes late, did not have any audio setup (couldn't hear him with such a big group and near the ocean and traffic), and did not even do a simple sun salutation/flow or talk about the poses (or even name the poses after he told people what to do). He was saying step forward, and back, now step backward, and back, and step to the side, and back. I've literally never experienced any yoga like this and I've been to a lot of studios. With all that said, if you're just looking to get outside, connect with other people, have a laugh (the instructor was funny) and move your body, then this is your place. I read it was 'donation based' but I didn't even see a place to donate if you wanted to. Overall I'm supportive of any kind of community activity, especially when it encourages movement - that's why it got a 3 star review. read more
