As a yoga fan; I love going to different classes when I travel and had not been to Yogacara in several years so decided - with legs that craved some serious stretching after a long hike the previous day - to attend a class. Booing is easy through the Mindybody app and classes are reasonably priced at around $20 US for a 75 minute class. We did the Vinyasa class. It's a small studio with village views and class sizes are limited . We had 10 people in our class. Everything is already laid out rest to go - Mats and blankets and props are encouraged. The class was very good. The teacher asked beforehand if there was anything she needed to know before class which is important when teaching new students and her practice was very good, taught very well and very safe. In the years since I have been here, I became a yoga teacher with two credentials and it has given me more insight into practice and instruction- and I have realized that many cues are often not the safest such as pigeon but this instructor was great and very well versed in sage alignment. The only thing I don't love and I have noticed it on both visits as well as my daughter picking up on the vibe, is that it does not have a warm or friendly vibe. I cannot pin point it but it does not encourage me to come back - but maybe it's because it's a class full of strangers due to this being a tourist spot . Just a warning: Over new years I was sick and called the phone number that was on google to cancel my class, it went to voicemail so I left a message. When I recieved no response during the day, I went in at the start of the evening class to asked what I can do about a credit. The instructor didn't seem to belive me to be sick and asked me to join the class or write to the owner but that I had missed the chance for a refund. Unfortuatnely a couple days later I tested positive for Covid. I wrote Emily, the business owner, with a screen shot of the google listing. She implied that I was faking it and trying to get out of the class with a loophole and said, "No, we did not get your voicemail and I do not recognize that number. I've been in touch with Google to see what happened. We don't take voicemail at this time." Then she berated me for harassing her employee. Follow up from Emily: "I've processed a refund to your credit card, upon your demands, in the hopes that you do not return to the studio." read more

Wonderful studio and teacher. I felt nourished and well-met in all aspects of the practice body, mind and spirit. The teacher provided the right balance of group and individual guidance, and also gentle invitations to connect with my own inner wisdom and flow. The studio is very welcoming to travelers and locals alike. They hold a beautiful container reminding us that yoga is a global community. Very warm, kind, open vibe. A week pass for $49, it doesn't get much better than that. I have done a few classes so far and have more planned before I leave. All of the teachers are warm and welcoming. It's not crazy challenging but modifications are offered and you can run your own race. It's a great opportunity to do some great yoga for an inviting price. The location is a little hard to find but it's at the St Andrew's building, on top of naked sprout. In the building next to The Keg. There are so many different yoga classes and different teachers to choose from. I tried the 49/week + tax classes so I can try multiple different classes and instructors and I definitely enjoyed it. read more

Imagine this: After a long day of skiing you head to a perfectly warmed room, with yoga mats and blankets perfectly spaced apart and just waiting for you. As you lie down you hear the soothing sounds of a fountain and detect aroma therapy oils in the air. I was scheduled for a 9:15am class and unfortunately became deathly ill with a cold the night before. I called that morning and left a voice mail cancelling my reservation as well as followed up with an e mail to ensure receipt. I gave them ample advanced notice to allow for other students on the "wait list" to get in and they still decided to charge me. I tried several times over e mail to give Yogacara the opportunity to do the right thing and they still refuse to reverse the cancellation fee. I used to love visiting this studio when vacationing here from the Seattle area but now I will never be back. I am also disputing the charge through my cc company and quite honestly $20.00 is an insignificant amount but I do feel they are just playing mean in the sandbox over this. These ladies have it right! I booked a week long pass while I stayed at whistler and took several different classes after each day of riding. Each teacher is different, but nonetheless great! It is a centrally located, clean, quiet studio, with all mats, blocks, pillows, that you will need. The classes helped me prepare for each subsequent day of riding! Thank you! read more

I showed up right on time at the Saturday 10:15am class and the door was locked. I had already booked online on mindbody so I paid and reserved for my spot. I called and told the front desk we were on our way 25 min before class. I dropped off my friend and went to find parking. It's too bad that the studio didn't tell me on the phone that they lock the doors and I was right on time. So my friend got to take a class, and even though he told them I was on my way they didn't care. This studio took my money. There are other yoga studios in the area. I will be going there. read more

LOVE this yoga studio. Right when you walk in, it feels calming, quiet. During a week in November and now in March, I tried all the different classes and learned a bit from all of them. Just a little nicely sore. Perfect to alternate with skiing. We even had a class where it started snowing, it was magical. What I like even more, though, they lock the door when the class starts. Being from Miami I am so used to people showing up late and traipsing all over you when you are practicing. Yogacare encourages guests to show up 5 minutes early and relax. It is wonderful. Yogacara is easily my favourite Whistler yoga studio! It's centrally located and the classes sizes are small and intimate. I've found all of the teachers fantastic so far, and they've been happy to provide modifications when necessary. Note that the door is locked when each class begins - I really appreciate this as there are no interruptions from latecomers and everyone is ready to go at the start of practice. read more

Outstanding all the way around! Excellent, caring teachers. They came around to make adjustments and calm the body/spirit. Great space, mats and props are prepared for each class. It just makes a wonderful experience. They offer Yin yoga classes almost every day, which made it so special as we were hiking during the day and it was the best thing we could give our body at night. Visited the area for the weekend, and was excited to find this studio. Online enrollment was terrific. Easy to find, calm experience. My friends and I felt very welcomed and each person was addressed by name. The instructor (Maeve) read the room well - different levels of experience and she assisted each person. Yogacara was an essential part of my winter vacation this year. The Whistler Village studio was just a hop skip and jump from my hotel and I took advantage of their one-week introductory offer for new students. The studio is pristinely zen-like and fully equipped with fabulous props, so no need to bring your own mat as everything is already arranged and provided for. You can even help yourself to tea and lollipops at the end of your practice. I took a yin and vinyasa flow class with Larissa, Hatha with Emily and Hatha with Andrea. I've had the privilege of attending many of Emily's classes at Yogacara Whistler, my favourite being Kundalini. She has such a way of making every bit of stress, both mentally and physically melt away after this class. She is very knowledgeable in her hands on adjustments and creating a relaxing, safe atmosphere as soon as you enter the studio. Sadly I can't give the studio any stars. We phoned at 8am to check the schedule. Were told there was a 9:15 class. Showed up and waited with twelve other people and no one showed up. Three people said they had the same thing happen the night before and they had bought a week pass while they were on vacation in Whistler which were going to waste. read more

On the plus side: the instructors are very good to excellent, there are several classes a day, and the limit on the class size provides a personalized and relaxed experience. All of these points would have led me to give this studio a 5/5. However, the online reservation system is unreliable. Over the past month, I've experienced the following problems: the expiry date on my pass was wrong; twice I thought I'd reserved, but my name wasn't on the class list so I didn't get into the class; the system reported that more spaces were available than actually were, so I didn't get into the class as a drop in. Alternatively, clients are told to phone in for reservations, but on the one occasion I tried this, I didn't get a call back until after the class. Lessons learned: reserve a few days in advance and if you don't get an email confirmation right away, call to sort it out. Not recommended for the drop in yogi. read more
