First off, let me start off by saying I highly recommend Downdog Flow Yoga & Pilates Studio and…read moreMelissa as a Yoga and Pilate's teacher and here's why: Style: Melissa brings her own style and technique to her classes - it's a playful, fluid, and challenging practice - a combination of Vinyasa and Pilates. Not only do you get a good sweat but she always has a focus and intention behind it. She does a great job of breaking down the flow in an easy and methodical way and no class is ever alike. She always comes prepared with interesting and different flows and peak poses in which I admire and continue to be a student of hers as it goes to show you how much effort and work she puts towards giving the best to her students. She is always listening to her students and tailors her classes to deliver. Energy: I've been going to Downdog studio for a little over a year now and Melissa's energy and power has always been 110%. Her intensity is like no other instructor I know which permeates throughout the class. It drives her students to do better, to take us out of our comfort zones and to challenge and push ourselves pass our limits. This in turn has all of her students giving it there all every time they step into the studio. It also helps that it is a community atmosphere so you feel comfortable, engaged and always included. Personal: She goes above and beyond as a yoga instructor. Melissa genuinely cares and is concerned for all of her students. She will befriend you and always go the extra mile to guide you in the right direction of good health and well-being. She is truly on a mission to share the benefits of yoga, fitness and good health to everyone she meets. She has given me workouts, poses and stretches for restoration and follows up to see how I'm doing. Overall: Although your core will be fired up, you will definitely feel zen after every class leaving you to feel like you're ready to conquer any challenge life throws your way. If you want to better yourself on and off your mat, need a vigorous workout that is guaranteed to give you results physically and mentally, and would like to be part of a fun community atmosphere that motivates you, I highly recommend Melissa at the Downdog Flow Yoga and Pilates studio.

I can't recommend Om Studio more highly.

I took 2 other classes with two other instructors and they were both great as well. When I am back in this area, I will definitely be going back.

Well, come on down to Collective Studios for the stationary bike ride of your life. Located quite literally next to a Planet Fitness in Londonderry, this upscale studio won't be serving slices of greasy pizza to people (like myself) pretending to workout on machines that are covered in Covid 37 and divorce. This is not your usual "I went to the gym for an hour, but I'm going to count my time in traffic as gym time" workout. The ladies of CS bring the Burn (or Flow) each and every class. As someone who enjoys exercise in concept only, I found myself being lapped by every single one of my classmates. I was a three legged horse at the Kentucky Derby, my only solace being the impending glue factory. That being said, my social anxiety and third-trimester-beer-gut were welcome with open arms at CS. They not only fit me with stylish shoes, but encouraged me to actually pedal when on the bike...and pedal we did! There was a great mix of both physical and mental workouts for the 45 minute session. While, as always, my tongue remains in my cheek with these reviews....I did thoroughly enjoy this experience! "Rita", the name of the helpful and way-too-in-shape instructor, brought energy, encouragement, and "good vibes" as the kids say. Thankfully for society, I don't think I'll be slipping into any yoga pants in the near future....But...I will be going again to Collective Studios. For the first time in a long time, I felt welcome and encouraged to step outside of my comfort zone. Mark this as my first (and let's be honest, only) gym review because I can't imagine having a better experience anywhere else.

The studio is on the second floor of this old brick building in the trendy part of downtown Haverhill, where parking is ample either on the street or in the back parking lot ($.50/hr during the weekday, free after 8pm and on weekends). There's a really cute lobby area where you can leave your stuff on the benches. There's also a small curtained-off changing area. This might be weird to say, but I was also impressed by how clean and tastefully decorated the bathrooms are. But of course, the most important room is the yoga room, in which the positive and relaxing energy is almost palpable. High ceilings, dark wooden exposed beams, mustard yellow walls, and tall windows that look out onto the Merrimack River. This room beats any dingy gym I have ever taken a yoga class in. There are a ton of classes to choose from throughout the week, and the business operations of this studio run as smooth as butter. Just reserve a spot for a class online and then show up. There are a bunch of different payment and class bundle options available too. The owner, Caroline Giles is so incredibly friendly and encouraging. I also love how there are different classes for all levels of fitness and experience. I just wish classes weren't so pricey, although I think the $10/class cost is pretty average for places around here. I got a LivingSocial deal for 30 classes for $30 and it was the best 3-month break from the gym I have ever taken.
